The whole point of passive income is to free up time to do what you really want to do, especially if what you want to do will not bring in money (such as non-profit) etc

I can break down your arguements so easily. Almost all of your points are seriouly flawed. I don't know whether it is your lack of knowledge or you just live in a different world to mine.
Your first Point is that if you had 1 Million USD, and that made you 5% interest a month, you 'd work hard not to lose that money.
A professional investor won't work hard because a professional investor is not affraid to lose money as you are. your example don't add up.

If you put your money into a bank CD, a money market or a bond issue, you're done. You don't have to watch it or work it. If your stock returns a dividend, that check will be there on time. The problem? Having enough seed capital to generate a comfortable income SAFELY.

Well Passive income means that if you are ill or for any reason you can't work your money will keep coming in regardless whether you work or not.
