@KnuxChid Blasphemy. There are ton of people who still remember the old classic and love them deeply. Though you might get the impression that most of them have simply learned to ignore some of these childish plays for the most part, popping every now and again to remind them of prior superior titles.
Most likely, they're too busy still gaming strong and hard... Speaking of which, I've got 3D Dot Game Heroes to finish before moving to completing Resonance of Fate.
FF12 is great for it's own reasons. The developers wanted to try something new so they used the whole action based battle system, but I think they are doing the right thing to make FF13 a sort of mix between the old style and the new one. I had a blast just exploring in FF12, hunting the rare monsters and such, really was a lot of fun.
same here.. hunting for the mobs just became my weekend thing to do... i was better sad when i ran out... .. i do hope in 14 they pick something up like that... not just some nm to kill with friends but something u have to track down yourself
Any game tnhat you can beat the last boss on your first attempt is too easy imho. Any game you can beat the last boss whilst hardly even touching the controller has some serious design flaws!
Well my first FF game was X and I loved it. Then I got XII and I loved it even more because of it's battle system. Obviously I didn't know that all the other previous FF games had turned-based battle systems similar to FFX but I thought that FINAL FANTASY was an awesome RPG title. The battle system is what got me addicted in this game.
I just started playing this game yesterday. I don't really like the battle method. I like the Wait Mode Battle like the previous 12 FF games. That's one thing that makes Final Fantasy FINAL FANTASY in my opinion. Anybody else agree?
This is a good theme...should have been placed higher (but that's just my bias opinion). I loved mixing and matching characters to follow me. My favorite was probably Basch, Fran and Princess Ashe. Kick some magic ass...
FFXII was great but it changed things around a lot so it pissed off a lot of fanboys who are scared of things being different. FFIX and XII are the best in the series IMHO. FFVI is a close third. This is a great song, too, btw.
I never could understand how a game set in the same world as FF Tactics could have a subpar story. They tried to get too fancy with the battle system too.
Don't get me wrong, this was a good game, better than a lot of RPGs, but I expected a little more from a Final Fantasy game.
the original director of FF12 left the game because of illness and some other director took over...(guy who do saga unlimited) i'm not sure what he changed or took out but i know it would have been better with the real director/creator
I love how these comments look like a debate on whether FFXII was a good game or not...I personally thought it was pretty good, the story was passable, the combat was pretty good, the music is really good (this theme included), the graphics are great, my only complaint is that sometimes, I got lost and didn't know what to do lol
@numanuma250 To be honest, I loved the game, but hated having to grind for loot to sell for gil to buy new equipment, magic, and items. Why can't the enemies just drop gil? WHY?
You people are stupid, FFXII was an awesome game. Granted: it's not perfect, but I think SE should get a little bit more appreciation for trying something new with the series.
i hope no one will be offended...as this is not meant against anyone...
i can first and foremost not say that FF XII was a bad game you may have loved the others a lot but i don't think that this game should be called worse for that
IMO i loved FF IX the most and X was great...
Noubuo Uematsu was a great musician...
but i think this game has some good tunes as well...
i don't think any game has complete differences in tunes...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
worst final fantasy ever
even worse than ff7
the only thing this game has is nice graphics and 3-4 nice soundtracks thats it
the story is plain boring...even mob hunting was more interesting than playing the story...
the characters (if you can call that character) were just like dolls that you could control...they had no difference except for their looks. vaan is a pathetic main character. the only thing he does is following the others
even balthier showed more maincharaness in the game than him
Vaan was not the main character in ffxii to clear that up. he was just the guy you walked around with...the main character of the game is Ashe...and how is xii the worst ever??? was it because you didnt like how SE changed things around? personally i found this story to be more mature...with the exception of vaan xD...it wasn't a mind blower of an ff but still a good one especially with quests that don't get you bored...ok...some...stupid f**king yazmat =_____="
you got a point about ashe there...but then what the fuck are vaan, penelo and fran for? basch wasnt doing much either
And I had no problems with walking while fighting
i prefer the old ff fighting style more but i got used to ffxii´s fights soon and i guess it wasnt too bad...but what i couldnt stand was that horrible story which bored me to death
there wasnt any part of it that interested me
i just walked through it hoping for it to get better but that never happened...
haha i guess the story was too mature for all fans to like...i still like the gameplay though...and sidequests were one of my faves in this game...i always loved fighting espers cuz i get to hear that epic kick ass theme!
first of all, i don't see the point in swearing, second, vaan is only the person you play as...not the actual main protagonist who is ashe...notice how the story revolves around HER and how vaan is only caught up in those events? seriously, do some research before you decide to talk.
I personally the thought the story wasn't well presented, the character development of most characters was weak, and Square's idea of adding in tons of optional missions that, overall, just weren't fun kinda killed the game for me. It was...ok...at best.
The same could be said about a lot of games. Vaan is officially recognized as the main character, so hes the main character. Its true that the story concentrates on Ashe, but Vaan is still the protagonist.
This is the only FF I played that I couldn't bring my self to finish :/. Balthier was the best thing to come out of this game...and he jumped ship to hitch a ride with FFT.
this was one of the best final fantasy games ever i loved how they did the battle system they stuck to the turn based battle system of there past but granted the ability to move i also loved the story line as for the muusic all of it was amazing this song in particular was also one of my favorite boss themes i intentionally prolonged the battle just to hear it XD
I love FFXII's music. It was great, and had some wonderful environment to it (Such as Salikawood's theme).
However... the soundtrack keeps getting reused - 90% of Revenant Wings' soundtrack is from FFXII, and 45% of FFTA2's music is as well (Another 45% of that soundtrack is FFTA1 music)
At first I hated this game because of the battle system. But then I actually gave it a chance and loved it. The only thing I hate now is that I haven't played in forever so whne I play again I will have no idea what is going on and I'll end up restarting.
i loved FF XI, i didn't like the whole idea of a Political Storyline, but i loved the battle system, i guess it was incorporating Final Fantasy Online battle system a lil.
oh well, yeah making characters 3D is good and all. But the storyline sucked for what you could have done. Come on! you have an invaded kingdom and 2 great empires about to fight eachother. thats a big enough set up already. The characters (except maybe...penelo as far as I remember) had decent backgrounds too, but ultimately they ruined it. It turned into a massive right and wrong argument instead of a grand epic.
erm...looking at everything I just said above, I do know whats going on. I still dislike the storyline, but its a good development I suppose. So far its just been about one great entity about to engulf the world in evil, this was slightly different (they couldnt resist throwing an evil overlord) but still I think its the sole uber entity that makes games good sometimes.
I won't lie, I would prefer a turn-based one than real-time. But let me state what I feel about this game. It brought something new to the RPG. It gave it an MMORPG feeling to it, which made it more fun. I can't say this game was bad, but it is the turn-based system that I fell in love with. In the end, it was an epic game with epic music.
love this game! O_o xii is one of the best ff games ever =( don't understand why other ff fans dont appreciate it tho- is it cuz of teh real-time battle system? =) i personally liked the battle system (not the licence system tho)!!! XD
old habits die hard...some people don't like change...I personally love change and love ffxii (story could have been executed better or better paced though)...also, being a music person, I find ffxii to have the most dynamic and deep soundtrack of all the main series ffs...just saying
@TheTrendSetter89 I found the battle system slightly convoluted, a glorified ATB system with the semblance of actual liberty of action that was nothing short of simply beautifying the entrance to random combats.
I can actually compare it to Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross in a manner of speaking, but change going into an entirely different field of battle, to remaining exactly where you are (Chrono Trigger), opening up the menu, then... fight or run by holding down instead of R1 and L1.
The game was terrible compared to old ones. After I played this I realized the FF series was dead

i also think that... although the graphics actually have been tuned down in some places...there are still some great things with this game...
bestairy and monster hunting was a good upgrade from the other FF's...
a lot of different weapons... and some neat combat manuverabilty...
i only had a problem with espers and chocobo's limit...
but it's still a good game..
not the best!
