  • never herd im swear lol

  • I lived in Boston in the '70's. At the time that historic city was torn by racial strife as people were struggling with school bussing as a solution for achieving de-facto integration. During that time Born To Run was released. Art doesn't seem to get much credit from newsmakers, reporters and politicians, but it seems to me that Clarence and his saxophone woke up a lot of hearts, and did as much, as anyone to promote true harmony. Brilliant. Thank you, Clarence. What is remembered lives.

  • You could tell without a doubt that Bruce loved this man like a brother... i love watching this vid.

  • Nice! Thank you very much for Sharing!!!!!

  • Unforgettable Clarence....

  • Movin'

    thanks

  • RIP CC you were and always be bigger than life

  • when clarence got to heaven at the pearly gates st peter said "i've just got to let the boss know your here so you can come on in" and clarence replied my god don't tell me bruce is dead!"

  • Bruce, Clarence, and now Gaga... true artists.

  • @MsPsycho29 gets kinda tired, I agree. It's like encores after concerts, you know it's coming.

  • @MsPsycho29 - I don't delete comments, just wanted to say I respectfully disagree.

  • @dukestreetking75 i agree with @mspsycho29, this is just Bruce showing his respect to the big man. you can see Clarence is nearly crying with emotion, & that made me nearly cry too, (although being a bloke, i wouldn't actually admit that to anyone in real life).

  • @dukestreetking75 Re: MsPsycho29: I had to laugh when I read the word "insincere"... There's nothing insincere about Bruce, and anyone who knows anything, would know that. Sorry MsPsycho, but your name fits your comment!

  • @sudosurfer - I agree with you one hundred percent. Your comment is what the majority know to be true. As you saw, I don't delete comments and your response to her was the reason why.

Thanks for taking the time to publicly "correct" her.

  • @MsPsycho29 springsteen's whole thing is his "sincerity" which would ring true if he didn't repeat it word for word every night changing only the name of the city, might go down great with american fans but you'd think he'd makes his adlibs a wee bit spontanious sometimes ? BUT, when it comes to bandmembers & the big man in particular ? then it was sincere, you can't work with someone for 35 years & not love them like a brother, i'll miss Clarence at IOW 2012 won't be the same. RIP

  • I imagine this is how St. Peter announced Clarence's arrival at the pearly gates.

  • @bmx2962 No he didn`t. Peter knelt when the Big Man passed

  • The Born to Run album cover said it all about the relationship between these two.................Bruce holding his guitar and leaning on the Big Man while he's blowing his sax. These two guys were true blood brothers who fed off of each other..................R.I.P., Big Man, stay strong, Boss.

  • This is friendship at its greatest. This is friendship x 10 to the hundredth power. Touches my soul every time i watch this....

  • what the fuck i cried!!!!!! when i see this lol!!! good introduction..those guys were in loooove!

  • If Bruce Springsteen is saying what CC is like then enough said.

Seems like they were blood brothers

  • So sad, we lost him way too early.

  • The world has a GIANT hole in it now.

  • Pause the video at :49. That is how we should all remember The Big Man.

  • rip

  • Scooter and the Big Man

  • now cracks a noble heart. GOODNIGHT, SWEET PRINCE. AND MAY A BED OF ANGELS CARRY YOU TO YOUR REST.

  • From Bruce's eulogy at the memorial: "Clarence doesn't leave the E Street Band when he dies. He leaves when we die." Right on, brother.

  • Clarence Clemons doesn't live on E Street anymore...

    :(((

  • @violaquarius E street is not a place, not in the tangible sense. Its a place in which all Springsteen fans can reside, young and old, here or on the other side. So really, the big man didn't leave E street, he just moved to the top of the block, where he can look down on all of us, smile, and play that sweet music. R.I.P The big man Clarence Clemons.

  • What song is that the beginning off ???

  • @Daddyolsen - It is during the middle of "Mary's Place" from October 27, 2002 in London's Wembley Arena.

  • @dukestreetking75

    Thanx - appreciate it :)

  • RIP to the BIG MAN :(

2 years ago my parents and I saw Springsteen in Jersey and they were having a book signing with Clarence for his new book. It was free. We didn't go. My mom had "work" or something to do. She was crying when she found out he died and kept going on about how she'll always regret it.

  • rest in peace big man clarence clemons.rock the heavens with your sax!!!

love from Sussex County New Jersey!!!

  • Hopefully big man can finally rest in peace and not deal with the chronic pain anymore... But rock music has definitely lost one of its top 2 sax players... Him and Alto Reed and right up there at the top....

  • RIP

  • So eine Scheiße.

Jetzt stirbt langsam die E-Street Band weg.

Reicht es denn nicht das es nur noch 2 Beatles gibt?

    Thank you Clarence.

    Your Sax was unbelievable!!!

    THANKS!!!

  • I've saved this in my favorites. Thanks so much for putting this out there. Makes me smile ... for the first time since Clarence went to Heaven.

  • RIP Big Man!

  • Very very sad. We first saw them in 1975. My mate Steve Yates had heard of this band and we went to London to see them at the then Hammersmith Odeon on Monday 24th November 75. The band were fantastic with the Big Man's sax towering above it all. As we left, I quickly got a poster. I still have it. Tickets were £2.20, £1.65 and £1.10. A fantastic night. Clarence's sound will be around forever, to be transferred onto any future recording format. His sax will never fade away

  • Grazie Clarence.

  • ''They never die who live in the hearts of those they leave behind''. God bless Big Man.

  • Wow - That just about made me cry.

  • My God, we'll miss him....things will never be the same. He'll live forever though.

The end of an era...R.I.P. Big Man.

  • Simply a great man, huge talent, a great loss! The flags in New Jersey will be raised at half-staff tomorrow, June 23rd in memory and honor of Clarence.

  • We love you Big Man...

  • RIP clarence, you were the greatest. I was given the greatest honor of seeing Bruce and the Band live in 2008, and always wished i could see it again. it will never be the same. There are tears on e street...

  • I am seriously mourning the loss of Clarence Clemons. If Bruce is the heart of the band, Clarence was definitely the soul.

R.I.P. Big Man. You were loved more than you will ever know.

  • still sad

  • The Big Man has gone.... Baby you were born to run.......RIP....

  • A long, long time ago... I can still remember How that music used to make me smile. And I knew if I had my chance That I could make those people dance And, maybe, they’d be happy for a while. But february made me shiver With every paper I’d deliver. Bad news on the doorstep; I couldn’t take one more step. I can’t remember if I cried When I read about his widowed bride, But something touched me deep inside The day the music died. for the" Big Man" Clarence Clemons
  • Great intro from Bruce exuding a great love, respect. and comraderie Outstanding musical memories and good vibes. RIP Clarence Clemons.

  • Bruce sure Loved ' The Big Man ' !

  • Who would dislike this....

  • The Big Man left a big hole in a lot of hearts. RIP Clarence and thank you for the amazing memories.

  • RIP big man.......and thnks fot all u r great music

  • so sad...just heard the news..the E-street band will never be the same again..can't believe he's gone...he was a part of Springsteen and therefore a part of me..rest in peace Clarence...such a big loss for everyone involved...still can't believe it..

  • I cry every time I watch this video.

I had the great luck to see him in Italy 2 years ago. Can anybody write me the intro, so I can translate? Thank you?

  • @BananaSeppia - Here is what Bruce is saying as he introduces Clarence:

And last but not least, I want to say London is finally ready for - the Minister of Soul, Secretary of the Brotherhood, probably the next King of England ... Give me a C-L-A-R-E-N-C-E ... what's that spell? ... what's that spell? ... what's that spell? ... I have seen the future of the whole fucking thing and it is Big Man Clarence Clemons - right on brother man, yes it is.

  • Feels like a piece of my soul is missing. Thank God and the E Street band for the transcending power of rock n roll.

  • To Pedrocantina and Lastdaysguitar - please keep your opinions to yourselves, you are both sullying a very poignant list of tributes.

  • The fact I never got to see Bruce Springsteen when Clemons was alive makes me cry. I can still see The Boss live, and it'll probably blow my mind, but I don't think it'll ever be the same without the BIg Man.

  • The frame @0:49 when he leans back and just enjoys life is the image I choose to remember him by.

I'm so glad I got to se Clarence Clemons when they played my hometown back in 2003 with The Rising Tour. What a man!

  • Saw this tour in Miami and I will never forget this. The Big Man will never be forgotten. He was other reason besides Bruce that I wanted to see the show. Wish it hadn't taken 9/11 to reunite the band, but I'm glad I got to see them again, even if it was just once more.

  • R.I.P Big Man!

  • Rest in Peace Big Man, thank you so very much

  • R.I.P. CLARENCE...STAY BIG !!

  • The big man will be sadly missed. He made the sax come alive and sing sweet melody. RIP

  • Loved the style, the humour and the goosebumps when Clarence blew his horn and we're lucky to have so many wonderful performances of his to celebrate while we mourn his passing. Gimme a C

  • RIP Clarence Clemons...God has a new Sax Player.

  • REST IN PEACE BIG MAN, YOU WILL BE MISSED BY ALL

  • Lovin' ya tonight Clarence.

  • Just so sad tonight---I'd hoped he'd pull through.

Thank you for the music: thank you for the joy that infused your playing it.

    Can't stop crying.

  • RIP Clarence *Big Man* Clemons. Legendary musician and you will be missed. I grew up listening to you and Bruce (ESB). I'll never forget you.

  • RIP Big Man

  • I saw them in Atlanta during that tour I do believe. I remember Bruce's intro for Clarence ended with something like "You wish you can be like him but you cannot . . ."

And I thought, yeah that's about right.

RIP Big Man. Here's to you.

  • RIP Big Man. Thank you for being part of the soundtrack of my life. You will be missed. I'm so grateful I was lucky enough to see Bruce and the ESB live many, many times and experience the awesomeness that was Clarence and Bruce.

  • RIP Clarence big man you were so simply......RAD.

  • RIP, thank you for the wonderful music.

  • Great video. Thanks, it helps on this sad night.

  • The music world lost a great man and sax player. The music world won't be the same without the big man. Forever and always in our hearts. You are the music that lights up the heavens.

  • Rip, Big Man....................

  • Every sax player in the world just went up a notch. A true artist in a world of artesians.

  • @lastdaysguitar It's sad, I didn't know he was that sick, I honestly thought he would be back on stage soon. I've seen Bruce and the E Street Band, people were screaming for the Big Man- he gave that music it's soul :(

  • @Poochalot Soul indeed - Clarance was a man of faith and he often talked in interviews about how he prays to Jesus Christ every night before he went onstage asking that his music would help somebody, and it sure did.
