I don't know why everyone calls Sonic CD the best Sonic game either.It was one of the best - if not the best - Sega CD / Mega CD games ever made Graphics were great for its time and the sound was outstanding, but Sonic 3 & Kuckes (Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles cartridge combined) has been the best Sonic game so far in my humble opion: Hyper Sonic,Hyper Knuckles,Super Tails,a continuing storyline and some of the finest Genesis / Mega Drive graphics in its lifecycle.I think Sonic CD can't beat that

getting good future is well worth it, all good future stages look amazing. and music is decent. would loved to have seen a sonic cd stage on generations to fit with the sonic cd come back. sonic is on the right track now. should see some new designs for classic sonic 4 episode 2.

For me, Sonic 3 w/Knuckles is the best 2D Sonic game (maybe even 2D platformer) made.

Masohiro these are not Emeralds they are Time Stones which enable time travel and also determine the fate/destiny of the little planet depending on if they are in Sonic or Robotniks hands

if you ask me sonic 2 is the best game, just because of the level design and music, sure sonic 3 has GREAT music, but what I don't like about that is that some levels are just too long and annoying cuz there isn't usually a way to speed run them through so thats why, but there almost a tie, but sonic 2 wins ;)

Sonic CD - IMO opinion the most fun sonic game. To answer some of the questions, it came after 2 and before 3. This game had a huge level of complexity unlike all the other sonic games which essentially boil down to RUN REALLY FAST THAT WAY! GO! One thing about this one is the difficulty. I beat Sonic 3 in one go and got super sonic on my first play through. Sonic and knuckles was pretty neat how you had to go back with Knuckles. CD though, is freaking hardcore.

This is a good sonic game but I don't understand why people call it the best. Sonic 3 + knuckles was interesting, and sonic 2 had great old school graphics with extremely well done levels. This game is too random and confusing.

@TacoBoat2 I think they call because of interesting time warps. The best Sonic ever was Sonic 2, the second best is Sonic 1, and the third is Sonic 3 + Knuckles. IMAO, Sonic 2 was the best levels design and graphics of the old-school games. I played a little of Sonic CD, and yea, is very confuse :S

@TacoBoat2 This game is no more confusing or random than other Sonic games at all. Even if you think it is, you need to actually play it. I still think that it is one of the best Sonic games out there, possibly to it being like a 'severely overhauled' Sonic 1 in my opinion.

That and it was one of the first Sega CD games I ever got. It was quite amazing back then to have such a colourful and unique game with some of the most awesome music around.
