I have the same problem. I'm on blip.tv, most of the videos with the adverts have movie scenes, music, etc, but I got a reply from blip.tv it's against their rules. But then how almost everybody making profit with those music/video clips? I just wanted to use old video game music, they said I can't. But then how all the videogame/movie/music reviewers using them? I don't get it. Can someone explain this to me?
I know it's been like, another year since someone commented on this video, but so what you're saying is that you were accepted as a partner even though you had copyrighted material on your channel?

dude, I'm a partner, as long as you got permission from the original owners of any other copyrighted content (and provide proof) you'll be ok. if you want to become a partner you have to deal with some of these things. it's worth it.
i hate the copyrights on youtube.>;( i had to upload my video three times cuz i had audio and then the next time i had my boyfriends song on it and they still disabled my video's audio!!
I'm wondering that too. Michelle Phan uses music on her make-up tutorials, but I don't know how she got copyright permission or if you mention the artist then it's ok...
I would like to thank you for this video. I was denied a partnership because of copyright. Plus I just saw a top youtuber singing to a popular song. WTF
Chris Bores steals countless material from James Rolfe, uses movie and music clips, and made hundreds of bogus copyright claims from his fake Y2B company that's a rip off of cinemassacre. He should be suspended AND fined, but jewtube won't do that because they make money off of his lard ass and he makes money off of them and his DVD sales.

Want to know what i have a problem with? If people want to become YouTube partners, but they don't have permission to use the copyright, the big-shot companies that you want to get permission from aren't going to cut time out of their life to comment back on some random person they don't know. So there's no way to GET that permission that you need. Almost ALL Youtube Partners use copyrighted stuff. Supermac18 uses 3OH!3, smosh took audio from There Will Be Blood, Fred uses Kev Blaze stuff, etc..
It doesn't work like that man. You contact the publishing company that represents the piece of work that you are trying to obtain a license for. You then pay a fee for the use of that license the same way that tv shows, radio, commercials etc... does. It's not that hard. You just need to do the research and put up the money like everyone else.
As an artist, I get paid for the things I create and I resent when people profit from my work w/out compensation or proper credit given. stay fair.
yeah like with songs, i think you should have permission to use them, but not make a profit if you purchase the song. One of my friends videos got taken off because of the song, and he bought the CD at WalMart, so i think you should have permission. And another thing, i uploaded a video that 3 or 4 other people had on youtube, and i got copyrighted by the company that make the show i put on, and i really think its wrong that YouTube uses a double standard for normal youtubers and partners.
The whole copyrights thing is really ignorant. Ok you have music from other artist that you downloaded. You can do that on any website on the internet pretty much, plus if you give credit ( like you said ) it should be perfectly fine until you make money off of it
really, when will this all end? is it going to get to the point that your video will be removed if you are wearing lets say a nike shirt, or a metallica shirt?
They deffinately need to specify more clearly and Majorly need to watch their partners now. Also the porn issue. Why are they very very strict on nudity but allow porn sites to advertise on youtube? I flag that crap as much as I can. A girl rubbing the outside of a guys pants in his crouch is "Sexual Intensions" Sorry!
I hate all this crazy copyright stuff. I mean you can watch whole music videos of whatever song you want on youtube and those people don't get in trouble. But I make an animation, which is my own, and use 30 seconds of a song in it, and my videos get muted and deleted. It doesn't seem to be fair how it is now. I see what you are talking about how a popular partner shouldn't be allowed to do what us non-partners get punished for. As it is right now, the enforcement of copyrights isn't fair.
Copyright is bullshit. The majority of the people in this country don't agree with this bullshit law and eventually it will have to go away. These laws can't be enforced equitably, they limit creativity too much and the public isn't going to stand for it for very much longer. We should be figuring out how to let Youtube know that we buy what they advertise, so we're in charge.
How's the Youtube Partner program working for you? Does it actually give you profit?
I'm personally thinking of becoming a partner as well (but guess who has no fan base =o,) but yeah, the rules and stuff do blow because it's pretty clear they aren't followed. It actually seems like partners are privileged, while non-partners are the only ones punished for copyright.
I know this was made March 24, 2008. And its' 2009, but it looks like you're a partner now.... I went to your page and I see you used music in your vids.
So did you decide to just sign the document and do what you wanted? Or did something change?
I decided as a partner to only monotize videos that had no copyrighted content.
Whether or not other people followed that policy shouldn't have been a determining factor in whether or not I joined it. I can still have integrity where others don't.
Becoming a partner has ultimately meant about 1000 more subscribers than I had, and a pretty banner for my page and videos.
I haven't made diddly squat monetarily because only about 5 of my videos are approved for google's adsense program.
yea, I came across this vid and I was just wondering. I want to be a partner , just to say "IM A PARTNER" but at the same time, I hate all the rules and regs...
As far as im concerned, people taking other peoples vids and making parodies out of them is more of something I would personalyl see as a problem or COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENt, than just using music in our videos. Its ridic. I actually went on a rant about it in my latest youtube vid on my page. haha.
you don't make much on the partnership? how long have you been one? I've been a partner since late july early aug and I Make like $2.00 to $6.00 a day or $about $60 a month.
just type "no copy righted material here" and it will be approved
Great Video man! AkewsticRockR, Nostalgia Critic got banned from uTube for reviewing movies and,TV shows. Now, its some fans who are spreading there word.
I've had some videos taken down because I've used say for example, Fur Elise (no joke), and the song-sensor whatever technology that YouTube uses has muted the video ("Elmo Suicides") due to this copyright infringement. Do you think they've denied my partnership application because of this violation, or simply because I only have 315 subscribers?
I'm really lost here, so any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks man!
I AND SOME YOUTUBER's ARE NOT GETTING PAID to do the videos that we do... we do them for fun and if copyright issues are going to be problem guess what ...THERE ARE OTHER VIDEO POSTING SITES that will gladly let us be the Artist that we are. IF anything we promote their music and or footage by others that bring THEM more money. SORRY YOUTUBE BUT MY LAST SHOW IS COMING SOON.. Freedom of ART!!
I think youtube needs to put a link somewhere that people can use to download the music that is availible under the "audio swap" option...
this copyright thing is a bit out of hand. It's simply youtube trying to go from what it was.. a free community of people posting their stuff, views, humor, etc .. into a cash cow.. blame Google ..
as far as the partner program .. do it dude, and best of luck with it!
i think if they credit the person that owns copyright and there is no profit then its fine. i used music in my videos along with my own creation. im going to give credit to the band/maker of the song.
Someone Used the information That I made And Didn't Give Me Credit. HE MADE THE VIDEO JUST AFTER I DID!! PLZ HELP ME... I want Him to at least give me credit...PLz reply and help me
Wow! So true, i was wondering this myself. I'm hoping to someday become a partner(not too near in the future)and i was worried about rejection based on the copyright policy. I'd have to say i disagree with the policy to some extent. I mean i don't really understand why we should be banned from using copyrighted audio in your videos, unless you have a band or something, it's not really feasible for the average partner to create their own audio and have it be just as entertaining.
I agree. I don't want to become a part of the partner program, because their criteria is insufficiently fixed. I cannot believe that most of us serious contributors get laid off by them but they accept people who should never have the right to become partner in the first place! I hope you expose this malevolent prick for abusing his partner status. I will keep making videos even if I have to deal with the 10 minute, 1GB limit. I make video game walkthroughs to help others out. It's my passion.
You make a very good in this video. Why you should become a partner if you're forced to sign a document like that? Also, how did you end up becoming a partner with the clips from movies and music in your videos?
IrateGamer is a douchebag and has no talent whatsoever. He is a criminal for what he does. Taking others' coprighted footage and making money off of it is a CRIME. IrateGamer will burn. Buy a copy of his DVD which contains hollywood footage and send it to the authorities. $20 to get a criminal off the web or the streets is money well spent IMO.
its not like there arnt thousands more serious problems in the world, but you make a good point,, and yes its not right that some people can ignore the laws and get away with it.. costing the public alot more than it would to lock up a drug dealer,,
DEFIL3D SHOULD BE BANNED SHE/HE MADE BOB BANNED I SAY BOB JUST SAID A JOKE ABOUT DEFIL3D NOW THAT SHES AUTOING SHES PISSING ME OFF NOW. COPY AND PASTE THIS TO EVERY BULLETIN YOU CREATE!!!!SHES A YOUTUBE PARTNER SHE NEEDS SUBSCRIBERS SO SHE GETS MONEY FROM YOUTUBE PARTNERS!!!!
i say we all send letters to the copyright owners that Irate Gamer ripped off, so that they can take legal action and force Youtube LLC to suspend Irate Gamer's account forever.
Fist off: You points are great and I don't know much about the program.
Second: I do know you make great videos and you could probably run a site of your own like other former youtubers have done.
Third and final: Personally I wouldn't be a parter of site where they bend rules for people that happen to get a lot of views (like Irate Gamer)or just because they are a partner.
so now that u are a partner...how does youtube regulate those copyright laws? Are you really not allowed to use any other music besides your own original music in your videos? And...if you apply for a partnership and you do have some copyrighted material on your videos (say like outro music at the end of your video), will youtube remove your videos? Thanks for your help.

wow you spend a lot of time on this page.
anyway, that comment i made was a song someone made so why don't you shut the fuck up? I'm sure he doesn't get hurt by what I say but you must be his loyal groupie?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
ok, I'm sorry you feel it is necessary to get so defensive. Maybe you should get the word 'fuck' tattooed on your forehead, seeing as it is a mainstay in your vocabulary.
Also, it is Handicapped, which by the way you spelled it, would suggest that you may be.
so im throwing a fit. now im being defensive. and you called me handicapped. and i say f*ck(there is that better) and you go head and say all of that. you think think about looking over what you typed.
P.s handicapped means a human disability or condition. now unless your a stalker and spying on me to know that i would go out and say that if you can't back it up. wow i spelled a word wrong. now thats called being defensive.
I would really love to become a YouTube Partner. I have one video that is copyrighted. Im afraid Ill become a Partner then my account will be deleted...
When you take a video game or movie footage and use it to create a review/parody, the resulting video is your copyrighted creation and thus you own the copyright and are allowed to upload it via YouTube partner program.
Hey, I'm interested in becoming a partner, but I need some advice -- it says one of the qualifications if to have videos that are seen by thousands of YouTube users.
How exactly can I get my work out there and seen so I can meet this qualification?
dont worry ive seen people(lots) of views just like you on your videos and there partners. its the subs you have 23 is way to low. at least like 150-400 maybe if your lucky
IrateGamer sold DVDs with copyrighted materials on them??!?! Really?! What the hell. So he supresses dissent, makes crappy work, ignores the people he rips off, and sends legions of trolls at people? Is this really the sort of person that YouTube wishes association with.
When people like David Letterman or Jonathan Ross (BBC TV film reviewer dude) include film clips, either because they're interviewing one of the stars, or doing a review, they generally put a copyright thing over the clip, or mention the distributors who let them have the clips in the end credits.
But the wording of that policy is a bit of a fudge to me, and I don't know how well it would stand up in laws, especially outside the US.
The same thing just happened to me, with regards to a song I used, apparently, but it wasn't a whole song, it was a clip of a song! Just in the title and the credits, like I've seen a million people do.
The thing that made me irritated was that instead of asking me to take it down, they just reported me.
Lol, same here, i was going to start doing video game reviews, then i couldn't becuase i saw the copyright law they had up on the partner page. I agree they need to enforce it or just let people copy things under certain circumstances.
also with the not haveing copyright thing thats just bogus, I aint in the know about all that stuff personally but yeah hell, if you cannot express yourself the way you want on a site why bother, find a new site that supports your artistic integrety and with the usage of your content, thats pretty cool man apreciated its good to see some people givin a go to others to critique or use their work for a video. -thumbs up.-
hmm, the partner thing If I ever get popular enough to even consider it I would not become a partner untill this bullcrap with the accounts is fixed up I mean the AVGN.... suspended.. thats just a load of dog shit((scuse my language)) but yeah anyway nice video man well thought out and to the point
expressed written consent would fall under the distribution rights in the clause, as for fair use I'm not sure but i need to look in to it for my own reasons.
Fair use is very clear at it's core and then unclear on it's fringe.
I need to refresh my self on copyright laws before i make my run a partnership over the summer. (obviously on a new account, unless I can have a talk with Tite Kubo)
good questions though, but a trailer with music would fall under fair use.
Become a YouTube Partner, And remember dont use the whole movie in your review. And you have talen so i think you shoud go for it! (And you have more talent then The Irate Gamer)
Partners can upload videos, and not monatize there video, and they can get away with using copyright material. But if they want to monatize it, and be able to make money off of it, then they cant use any copyrighted stuff.
At least that's what I've heard. If there are no ads next to the video, then they aren't making money off of it.
So, yeah. They can upload videos with copyright material, they just cant make money off of it.
Btw in my opinion partners that use copy writed material for their videos should be either kicked from being a partner or banned... But the general people using copyright like music videos i dont think should be a problem (although it is)
Upload some kitty videos as they always feature vids with cute critters :-)
I think you should apply. Don't beat yourself up over this as you may not even get accepted. I mean if ScrewAttackEurope was rejected they clearly don't care about quality.
View count is probably their only criteria. Irrategamer got featured, lots of views and thus became a partner. YT don't care about copyright. They ban people on tenuous copyright claims and turn a blind eye to blatant stealing.
You should definitely become a partner. Your proffesional, funny, and informed. You are also very passionate about what you do and you deserve to be paid.
But... if say, I record bits and pieces of video games, and add commentary, that wouldn't be copyrighted to me - because the game, music, sounds and whatnot are owned by the company (or companies) who made and published the game.
Actually, having videogame music, gameplay footage, and a commentary over it to make is as a game review does not violate any copyright laws, because generally speaking, the videogame companies dont care about whether their copyrighted work is used legally or illegally.
The only time they do care is if a person uses the company name(Ex. Nintendo, Sega, Sony, etc.) or uses company trademarks(Ex. Sonic, Mario, Samus, Pokemon, etc.) and makes a profit off of it without their permission.
It shows, from your simple Transformers PSAs to your rants. They display not only your passion but your talent. You deserve to be paid. So, go for it. The rest of the video with the copyright issue, to me, it's always going to remain a grey area. Overall, do what you want, that's the main thing.
Thanks so much for the compliments. It really means a lot to me. I've given it some thought, and I don't think I'm going to seek partnership until YouTube features one of my videos or something happens where I get a much bigger influx of subscribers. Afterall, YouTube will be the ones making the most money off my videos, and they'll only be cutting me a fraction of it.
Anything from the 30s and before should be fair use. However, the question really is: is the record company that represents that artist going to threaten to sue youtube for your use of their music?
Generally, the answer is "no", so unless the video gets flagged, YT doesn't care.
That's a pretty stupid rule, they really do need to allot for fair use. So I wouldn't join until they fix that, it's just too limiting for ANY youtuber.
Irate Gamer...kinda sucks though. Total ripoff of AVGN and nowhere near as funny.
Also about the Irate gamer on how he steals other people's material and gets paid for it His account should not only be suspended he should be IP blocked and arrested for the criems he did.
Your videos are fun, and you have a subtle sense of humor, but your last two vids are not fun: you become serious. U don't seem to enjoy the simple fact to SHARE your opinions about life or videogames or else anymore. Becoming a partner means loosing your priceless generosity, ie the 'cheap and sympathetic' sides of your vids.
2-Leave the geeky fights between Irate-AVGN-mygrandmother, just ignore them! THAT'S JUST ENTERTAINMENT!
If you have a problem with it then you have your answer after all its you that has to live with the decision and if its going to make you unhappy in anyway then its just not worth it.
If they don't restrict your stuff or require you to create content within certain timeframes, then I wouldn't see a reason to not become a partner.
Just because other people are violating their contract with YouTube doesn't mean that you shouldn't be a partner. Just make sure you don't do it. You can't stop yourself from joining a profession just because others in that profession are dishonest.
I would say no to becoming a partner, and yes to the video exposing other "partners" violating the agreement. There is no real point in joining if you feel that you are sacrificing integrity to do it. If YouTube changes the policy then by all means join. Respect > Profit.
Although not technically copyright infringement, his Jaws video is basically a carbon copy of Armake21s review of the same game, uploaded 10 months earlier. Also, the similarity between his and AVGNs Back to the Future and TMNT reviews is uncanny.
The copyright policy is really stupid.I do agree with you on the fact that the policy if it will stand should be enforced. Also bout being a partner you have to do what is best for you and your career and if that involves becoming a partner then go for it.
I am going to second the motion on exposing the copyright for the partners, be really interesting to see non IG members finally exposed of it. As for being a partner, I am going to vote no, Revver has a better policy for payment and it is friendlier to web development and compression, Revver FTW!
I think you showed a major flaw in the 'youtube partner program' right now. Copyrighted content, even in fair-use, or if you have permission, is not allowed according to the youtube partner program. 'NO EXCEPTIONS' makes a pretty clear statement to that. Unfortunately it seems they have a way of 'slipping violations through their fingers' when it comes to popular video creators. I would personally think twice before I signed on to do something I can't follow, even if you do deserve it.Good luck!
yea you should become a partener and also the copyright is thing is stupid , no expetions? like you said i know a lot of names who do use game , movie and other youtube footage that are parteners , to be fair i dont even know how fair use works
What's the point in everybody being eligible to become a partner? Almost all youtubers (I know, I don't want to generalize here) that became partners started to whore/sell themselves somehow or lose quality on their videos as they have to deliver no matter how bad or unfinished it is. My advice (at least for now): stay away from the partnership.
And violating copyright infringements is never any good, if it's done in fair use it's fine but not if you cash in on it.
hey, just wanted to say you deserve to be youtube partner. your videos bring quality and entertainment and innovative. I just think if your not able to use music or any copyright stuff your videos may be sort of lack..unless your like other youtubers who vlog then its okay aslong as its enjoyable to watch.
on the left area of the page are 5 images, one of those images is a picture of the happy tree friends... unless the actual copyright owner of the happy tree friends is on youtube, someone is definitely using some fair use law :p
as for your final question, it seems that you've made a comeback to more active video making, if you can keep that activity up, you should definitely apply.
I know about that guy who stole your video. He also stole videos from other people like UrinatingTree and PlayitBogart. He never gave them credit and he tagged an annoying ad for his spam site at the end of them. He deserves to be flagged and banned, if possible.
I have the same problem. I'm on blip.tv, most of the videos with the adverts have movie scenes, music, etc, but I got a reply from blip.tv it's against their rules. But then how almost everybody making profit with those music/video clips? I just wanted to use old video game music, they said I can't. 33,000 video views isn't much though. For me, I have:
302 Subs
15,851 Channel Views
180,451 Total Video Views
But a few of my videos were copyright claimed by WMG, but I disputed those claims and I could keep the videos. Would I be able to be a partner?
And If i was a partner, would those videos be deleted, or would I get suspended?

I hate all this crazy copyright stuff. I mean you can watch whole music videos of whatever song you want on youtube and those people don't get in trouble. But I make an animation, which is my own, and use 30 seconds of a song in it, and my videos get muted and deleted. It doesn't seem to be fair how it is now. I see what you are talking about how a popular partner shouldn't be allowed to do what us non-partners get punished for. As it is right now, the enforcement of copyrights isn't fair.
elfo19noob 2 years ago 7

Scrapperton 2 years ago
I know this was made March 24, 2008. And its' 2009, but it looks like you're a partner now.... I went to your page and I see you used music in your vids.
So did you decide to just sign the document and do what you wanted? Or did something change?
RkstarTv 3 years ago
I decided as a partner to only monotize videos that had no copyrighted content.
Whether or not other people followed that policy shouldn't have been a determining factor in whether or not I joined it. I can still have integrity where others don't.
Becoming a partner has ultimately meant about 1000 more subscribers than I had, and a pretty banner for my page and videos.
I haven't made diddly squat monetarily because only about 5 of my videos are approved for google's adsense program.
AkewsticRockR 3 years ago
yea, I came across this vid and I was just wondering.
Its ridic. I actually went on a rant about it in my latest youtube vid on my page. haha.

Odd question for you:
I've had some videos taken down because I've used say for example, Fur Elise (no joke), and the song-sensor whatever technology that YouTube uses has muted the video ("Elmo Suicides") due to this copyright infringement. Do you think they've denied my partnership application because of this violation, or simply because I only have 315 subscribers?
I'm really lost here, so any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks man!

Peace :):)

Wow! So true, i was wondering this myself. I'm hoping to someday become a partner(not too near in the future)and i was worried about rejection based on the copyright policy. I'd have to say i disagree with the policy to some extent. I mean i don't really understand why we should be banned from using copyrighted audio in your videos, unless you have a band or something, it's not really feasible for the average partner to create their own audio and have it be just as entertaining.
cowtipper11 3 years ago
Hey Kyle, are you ever gonna make the video where you expose the youtube partners that blatantly steal copyrighted material?
joshguy64 3 years ago

HunterBlackLuna 3 years ago
When people like David Letterman or Jonathan Ross (BBC TV film reviewer dude) include film clips, either because they're interviewing one of the stars, or doing a review, they generally put a copyright thing over the clip, or mention the distributors who let them have the clips in the end credits.
But the wording of that policy is a bit of a fudge to me, and I don't know how well it would stand up in laws, especially outside the US.
VidNationNut 3 years ago
The same thing just happened to me, with regards to a song I used, apparently, but it wasn't a whole song, it was a clip of a song! Just in the title and the credits, like I've seen a million people do.
The thing that made me irritated was that instead of asking me to take it down, they just reported me.

expressed written consent would fall under the distribution rights in the clause, as for fair use I'm not sure but i need to look in to it for my own reasons.
Fair use is very clear at it's core and then unclear on it's fringe.
I need to refresh my self on copyright laws before i make my run a partnership over the summer. (obviously on a new account, unless I can have a talk with Tite Kubo)
good questions though, but a trailer with music would fall under fair use.
it exposes the artists.

Well, take it easy.

Dentolux 3 years ago
You should definitely become a partner. Your proffesional, funny, and informed. You are also very passionate about what you do and you deserve to be paid.
On a side note that was a really cute kitty.

But... if say, I record bits and pieces of video games, and add commentary, that wouldn't be copyrighted to me - because the game, music, sounds and whatnot are owned by the company (or companies) who made and published the game.
I'd only have the copyright to the review.
This makes no sense. :\
Foxhack 3 years ago
Actually, having videogame music, gameplay footage, and a commentary over it to make is as a game review does not violate any copyright laws, because generally speaking, the videogame companies dont care about whether their copyrighted work is used legally or illegally.
The only time they do care is if a person uses the company name(Ex. Nintendo, Sega, Sony, etc.) or uses company trademarks(Ex. Sonic, Mario, Samus, Pokemon, etc.) and makes a profit off of it without their permission.
joshguy64 3 years ago
"I've put a ton energy and time into the videos"
It shows, from your simple Transformers PSAs to your rants. They display not only your passion but your talent. You deserve to be paid. So, go for it. The rest of the video with the copyright issue, to me, it's always going to remain a grey area. Overall, do what you want, that's the main thing.
amiga1200games 3 years ago
Thanks so much for the compliments. It really means a lot to me. I've given it some thought, and I don't think I'm going to seek partnership until YouTube features one of my videos or something happens where I get a much bigger influx of subscribers. Afterall, YouTube will be the ones making the most money off my videos, and they'll only be cutting me a fraction of it.
AkewsticRockR 3 years ago
is classic Jazz copyrighted?
therosesword007 3 years ago
Anything from the 30s and before should be fair use. However, the question really is: is the record company that represents that artist going to threaten to sue youtube for your use of their music?
Generally, the answer is "no", so unless the video gets flagged, YT doesn't care.
AkewsticRockR 3 years ago
That's a pretty stupid rule, they really do need to allot for fair use. So I wouldn't join until they fix that, it's just too limiting for ANY youtuber.

Bonjour de Paris sry I dn't speak well:
1-DON'T BECOME A PARTNER
Your videos are fun, and you have a subtle sense of humor, but your last two vids are not fun: you become serious. U don't seem to enjoy the simple fact to SHARE your opinions about life or videogames or else anymore. Becoming a partner means loosing your priceless generosity, ie the 'cheap and sympathetic' sides of your vids.
2-Leave the geeky fights between Irate-AVGN-mygrandmother, just ignore them! THAT'S JUST ENTERTAINMENT!

Although not technically copyright infringement, his Jaws video is basically a carbon copy of Armake21s review of the same game, uploaded 10 months earlier. Also, the similarity between his and AVGNs Back to the Future and TMNT reviews is uncanny.
TheLardman 3 years ago
Must admit he knows what's good - shame can't do his own thing
AVGN is the original and best by far
Though technically his stuff could be said to infringe copyright [as with pretty much ALL YouTube videos] so it's a tough one
Only sure-fire way to assure balance is allow use BUT enforce fact that must credit original creator or at least get permission
Surely if they're ok with it then there's no place to complain
Anyway 5* once more
Eagerly await the next video - whether blog or exposé

I think you showed a major flaw in the 'youtube partner program' right now. Copyrighted content, even in fair-use, or if you have permission, is not allowed according to the youtube partner program. 'NO EXCEPTIONS' makes a pretty clear statement to that. Unfortunately it seems they have a way of 'slipping violations through their fingers' when it comes to popular video creators. I would personally think twice before I signed on to do something I can't follow, even if you do deserve it.Good luck!
trilabs 3 years ago
yea you should become a partener and also the copyright is thing is stupid , no expetions? like you said i know a lot of names who do use game , movie and other youtube footage that are parteners , to be fair i dont even know how fair use works
CommandoJay 3 years ago
What's the point in everybody being eligible to become a partner? Almost all youtubers (I know, I don't want to generalize here) that became partners started to whore/sell themselves somehow or lose quality on their videos as they have to deliver no matter how bad or unfinished it is. My advice (at least for now): stay away from the partnership.
And violating copyright infringements is never any good, if it's done in fair use it's fine but not if you cash in on it.
bpbrother 3 years ago
I was told to apply as well, but I see so many flaws with the system, plus I'm pretty sure I'm violating copyright rules as well >_>

hey, just wanted to say you deserve to be youtube partner. your videos bring quality and entertainment and innovative. adding to my last comment:
on the left area of the page are 5 images, one of those images is a picture of the happy tree friends... unless the actual copyright owner of the happy tree friends is on youtube, someone is definitely using some fair use law :p
as for your final question, it seems that you've made a comeback to more active video making, if you can keep that activity up, you should definitely apply.

the "no exceptions" thing is indeed pretty stupid.
fair use and permissions shouldn't be a problem, Youtube should clear that up.
