@IAreCrazyChris Sentinel can become VERY destructive if you're good at using it, but an Adept is easier to use effectively. So whatever you prefer: For a challenge pick Sentinel, for an easier run pick Adept.
@callard2 I don't know about that sir, a biotic having used "Nemesis" based singularity can damage ANY protection type, allows for detonation via Warp or more damage via Warp Ammo and can be ragged dolled by other biotic effects (same effect with Pull). I've owned on Insanity thus far, it's CRAZY fun but less of a challenge than other classed I think.
@Gerrit80 see, i suppose i've been using the wrong damage types. im not sure if i used the nemesis based singularity. that would make a lot of difference. thank you for the information. have you fought the sentinel on the collector base yet. that was where i quit on insanity with the biotic.
@callard2 No, I only recently realized how awesome the other classes are 4 game play. I rolled through once with a Vanguard, once with a Soldier and once and an Infiltrator. I haven't completed a Biotic play through yet. I don't know what you mean though, with "have you fought the "Sentinel?"" What "Sentinel"? But Nemesis ROCKS my friend, it will effect every protection type.I've tried using "Wide" Singularity but I think actually "Heavy" might work better. Hope that was helpful? Happy 2 help
@callard2 Oh yeah The Praetorian! I kept running around the area with the high crates and pot shotting at him when he was slightly above cover, or when he just peeks around a corner. I do that w/ every class, sometimes I'd use Barrier as a Vanguard and run a lil ways 2 the railing on the left as well. Honestly that's the section that I usually find hard w/ not being a shooter "based" class but Barrier can save you a bit there, when your health goes down, use it immediately and then go to cover.
@Gerrit80 the big bug looking boss on the collector ship. the one you fight while you are escaping. the same bug looking thing you fight on horizon. it was helpful btw. i gotta try that.
I actually liked the soldier class. In fact it's one of my only classes. Because no matter what you do, you have to shoot stuff. Cloak as an infiltrator and you have to shoot stuff once you get to their flank. Charge as a vanguard and you have to unload your shotgun on the rest. Sure other classes can be awesome but it's hard to be both awesome AND practical. As a vanguard I had difficulty with heavies, infiltrators have trouble with commandos, and sentinels just make you feel too damn normal.
@AntiTPG I hear what you're saying man, I just find that Soldier get's boring though. Swap ammo types, somewhat fun, but there needs to be another interesting element with powers, other than just Adrenaline Rush.
@Gerrit80 Oh, well, that's the drawback. still, normally i get slam or reave, or just take pleasure in shooting stuff. Can't have guns and powers, I suppose.
@KnightOfFlight Vanguard and Adept are SUPER fun, Infiltrator I found boring. It could be though that I always "Assassination" sniped and never strategically cloaked but I found it hard and less fun.
@Gerrit80 You're probly right, considering how much they improved game play for ME2, they'll quite likely do the same for ME3. :) Although, I could see that being harder to do for ME3 because they did so well with ME2.
Sorry but you guys dont really know what you're talking about, I dont even know where to start, but I'll say this, In ME1 biotics were gods, if anything they are worse now because you have to break the sheilds first. They were super strong at a high level especially nemesis. They were muc more than "support", especially when you get an added skill which allow for an extra gun if you want.
Some things about the classes in ME2 are good, however other things are not. Neither is overall Better.
@tidus814 what i ment was that i hope they cointinue the story somehow, i dunno like adding a conflict between species with the humans then sheppard has to clear theyr name or whatever ... at any rate i would love to see this game continue after the trilogy of the reapers is finished
WOW, that was the least helpful RAMBLE i heard in a while now
I already finished the game with 5 different characters (all except for the soldier - i hate the soldier class FYI) so i didn't really need any advice on class choosing, which is good cause none was given here.
i only disagree on 1 thing, the soldier isnt the best in ME1, just get yourself an weapon unlock( like shotgun) and use it on the adept, they will KCIK ASS
@guitarfreak781229 That would defeat Biowares purpose of making the "Classes". I'll tell you that if could've picked powers for my own Shepard, I would've given him Warp, Overload, Adrenaline Rush, Slam, Inferno Ammo, and Biotic Charge. With the ability to use all guns. That would be absolutely epic, but it just doesn't work that way. Personally, Shepard is a Soldier and with Adrenaline Rush, Disruptor and Inferno ammo, and all the guns, nothing can stand against him.
@JesseTheWarrior110 you do make a very valid point and it does make sense i was just stating that it would be awesome if we could im not saying they should but still you do make a very valid statement
@eran5005 What I really like about Slam isn't necessarily the damage it does, because it doesn't do that much damage at all. Instead it's the down effect the power has. I swear it seems like it takes enemies longer to get up from than anything else. Shoot while they're down. Not to mention it's cooldown on Shepard is the shortest of anything in the game. With the upgrade Cooldown, you're looking at less than two seconds to use it again. Beautiful against unprotected Husks.
Ive tryed every class in Mass Effect and my favs are Infltrator, Vanguard, Soilder, and Sentinel is ok. The Adept and Engineer are kinda bad because they are support and you cant do much like they said
Insanity Adepts kicks so much ass. Trust me, they can't get as physical as a Vanguard (For obvious reasons) but there biotics can pretty much decimate anything in your way. Warp+Singularity/Pull Field dominate unprotected enemies.
i loved the first mass effect, (probably my all time favorite) but the second one just wasn't the same for me. I still liked it, but the fact that you couldn't buy new guns at stores. Idk it just didn't feel the same to me.
i chose a infiltrator wich i kept through mass effect 1 and 2. although i recently ended up deleting everything related to my account when i was deleting 2 clones of my live account that had been created by recovering my account when the 360 my profile was on didnt have live on so it was useless and confused me when i tried to sign in. so i am having to recreate my character from mass effect 1 to mass effect 2 so i can have a character to play in mass effect 3 and hopefully mass effect 4
@Ecci well if your talking about shepards back story then you would import shepard and then what you chose for shepards back story in mass effect 1 or 2 would be chosen, example; shepard is war hero, you fight at the skylian blitz or soul survivor you would fight a maw and lose your squad
lol in ME1 every class have speech skill and i always played like maxing that out first cuz u can win any battle with low level skills but if u dont have the speech skilll u can miss a lot of stuff or get more money
Idk I do have to say that ME1 had more of a get out there and shoot'm rather than strategy, but in this its more of the opposite. ME1 was awesome, but they went to town on improvments on this game.
Dang, am I the only one who played Engineer in ME1? I just loved having the ability to nerf the ever loving sh!t out of everyone on the battle field and pwning krogans with my pistol. I love the Engineer even more so in ME2 that little combat drone saved my ass more times than I can remember. And who could forget the awesome research bonus! More time playing the game, less time mineral scanning.

i loved playing as sentinel... it was all about controlling ur enemy (sabotage, overshield, stasis, lift, throw, cant remember name medicine skill) then having ur allies massacre them.
Got ME1 and i enjoyed it a lot gonna get ME2 after i get all achievements 4 ME1
To get the most out of mass effect 2, i'm gonna play it 3-4 times with a different class each time and maybe a few new decisions, but i'm gonna keep one specific playthrough saved up for mass effect 3.
WTF are these guys talking about. Soldier wasnt half as good as the vanguard in mass effect one. You could snipe with shotguns in that game plus you got some biotics. Best class by far as far as damage you can deal out (Fact).
Wtf? Every class is popular among the ME fanbase. Where the hell did he get this "Well we all know everyone picked soldier" bull from? I'm a Vanguard and proud of it!
Ditto. The Soldier was the most boring class in ME1. I played an infiltrator and loved it. Just because all you want to do is shoot things, don't assume others did the same thing.
@ultrahero2115 also in the first Mass Effect, if you got the achievement for using biotic, tech ect skills, you would get it no matter what class you chose on your next play through.
@Ecci Try a Sentinel. Tech Armor + Geth Shield Boost...makes you almost unstoppable. As long as you never sustain health damage, your Tech Armor will last forever, and all you have to do is re-activate your Geth Shield Boost every 60 seconds. Not a big deal, for tons of shielding. Cause the strongest shielding from Tech Armor is 100% to base...and for Geth Shield Boost, it's 100% to maximum. That's A LOT of shielding. Especially after you have all your upgrades and everything.
@Hellbane224 Yeah, but that's mostly defense. With the combo I mentioned, there's barely a chance to need the shielding. A maxed slam with one or two biotic damage upgrades will kill everything in one or two shots, and with upgrades for biotic cooldown and maxed Assault Mastery, it only takes two or three seconds to use again. The GPS will take care of anything else during that two or three second wait. I'm also a charge fan. You can kill everything with guns/squad powers before it gets back up.
It seems like he never even played mass effect 1. like he just watched a review for it and pretended he knew what the game was like. and like hes saying that he only chose the class thats like over simplified for people that dont know how to do anything but push the right trigger.
i can understand why some people might hate the 1st game because when i 1st played it i had trouble getting used to the controls and after playing for a few minutes i started thinking that the gameplay was terribly done. of course, i gave it another try the next day and started to like it until i finished the game. then i thought " wow, its been an honor to have played one of the best games of 2009" ...
Not once did I play as a soldier in mass effect 1 and I kinda regretted it. So in ME2 my first playthrough will be as a soldier although the other classes look sooooo badassssss!
Ive played through ME 5 times each time as a different class and now Im on my final one AKA my 6th class, the sentinel, I love ME so picking one was not going to be a option for me.
No, you can choose who to put on the console for the galixy. You can sacrifice the humans or the console in the battle aganist the ravenger things. Not to mention, based on how you played, the text at the ending of the game are leagues apart.
:D i played mass effect. i played it multipul times.
There are different endings. Many really. close to 6 when you really think about it.
it's council and reapers, 1 ending 2 choices at the end regarding the council, and you can convince saren to kill himself for the initial fight using either paragon or renegade choices. so :P
I played through the first Mass Effect game thrice, once with a Vanguard and twice with an Adept because Biotics are so fucking fun. I tried a Soldier, but it was so tried and trope and boring it wasn't really any fun. It was like playing GOW but really bad.
But the ME2 classes aren't even new, they're the same ones as before, just made a bit more distinct and revamped for the new combat system.
im a infiltrator i like the smgs and snipers i got the xbox achievement so i can use the assault rifle with my infiltrator i hope it transfers to (} ;
Something to give to the table?

All classes have pros and cons
Soldier (my favorite): All weapons and adrenilen rush allows you to go all matrix but lack of biotic powers means second you run out of ammo, dead
Adept: Tons of biotics but lack of weapons makes me not trust it
Sentinel(2nd fav): Awesome biotic and tech powers but lack of weapons till mission on Collector Ship isn't good
Vanguard: Best of both worlds, but charge in with no ammo and you're screwed
Engineer: no comment
Infil.-Good Class, could be better

I prefer vanguard ^^ Playing bowling with every one with shockwave
IIDenkanII 2 years ago
i loved playing as sentinel... it was all about controlling ur enemy (sabotage, overshield, stasis, lift, throw, cant remember name medicine skill) then having ur allies massacre them.
Got ME1 and i enjoyed it a lot gonna get ME2 after i get all achievements 4 ME1
Mrpnut08 2 years ago
@Mrpnut08
Sentinel is WAY better for ME2 it's as Vanguard was for ME1 tho Vanguard just heh for ME2 tho >.>"

YoJimBoHugabaJoe 2 years ago
the cutscenes were pretty cool
LinkinParkWorshiper 2 years ago
im gonna play thru it once w/ eah class but keep my imported ME1 soldier for ME3
Halomoviefreak4 2 years ago
To get the most out of mass effect 2, i'm gonna play it 3-4 times with a different class each time and maybe a few new decisions, but i'm gonna keep one specific playthrough saved up for mass effect 3.

same here
TitanGT66 2 years ago
WTF are these guys talking about. Soldier wasnt half as good as the vanguard in mass effect one. You could snipe with shotguns in that game plus you got some biotics. Best class by far as far as damage you can deal out (Fact).
07rensza 2 years ago
I definately agree. "Biotic shotgun sniper" is how I can best sum up the vanguard class. My favorite class from ME1.

I hope you can add bonus abilities to classes after you master them like ME1. Vanguard + Singularity = Epic Win.

It helps if you do not say "ummm" every other word. That's a sure sign of "I don't know wtf I'm talking about"

Wtf? Every class is popular among the ME fanbase. Where the hell did he get this "Well we all know everyone picked soldier" bull from? I'm a Vanguard and proud of it!

@ultrahero2115
Yeah man i was infiltrator and then adept and i wouldn't change it for soldier, for only shooting game we already have call of duty)
DkFr88 1 year ago 2
@ultrahero2115
Ditto. The Soldier was the most boring class in ME1. I played an infiltrator and loved it. Just because all you want to do is shoot things, don't assume others did the same thing.

@ultrahero2115 Damn straight. I plowed through the game as an Inflitrator with Lift. Snipe'd! So much fun.

@RazelG I use the sniper bonus talent with my vanguard and no scope enemies after I charge them.

M1A1Griffin 1 year ago
@ultrahero2115 also in the first Mass Effect, if you got the achievement for using biotic, tech ect skills, you would get it no matter what class you chose on your next play through.
xXxXNanuXxXx 1 year ago
@ultrahero2115 i'm and infiltrator and also proud
taka3000000o 1 year ago
@ultrahero2115 its cuz if u wanted to try all weapons at once, u pick a soldier, which is what ppl look at first: the weapon possibilitys
Whippenberg 1 year ago
@ultrahero2115 My personal favorite is Infiltrator, but Vanguard + Slam bonus power + Geth Plasma Shotgun = Most powerful Shepard ever.
Ecci 1 year ago
@Ecci Try a Sentinel. Tech Armor + Geth Shield Boost...makes you almost unstoppable. As long as you never sustain health damage, your Tech Armor will last forever, and all you have to do is re-activate your Geth Shield Boost every 60 seconds. Not a big deal, for tons of shielding. Cause the strongest shielding from Tech Armor is 100% to base...and for Geth Shield Boost, it's 100% to maximum. That's A LOT of shielding. Especially after you have all your upgrades and everything.
Hellbane224 1 year ago
@Hellbane224 Yeah, but that's mostly defense. With the combo I mentioned, there's barely a chance to need the shielding. A maxed slam with one or two biotic damage upgrades will kill everything in one or two shots, and with upgrades for biotic cooldown and maxed Assault Mastery, it only takes two or three seconds to use again. The GPS will take care of anything else during that two or three second wait. I'm also a charge fan. You can kill everything with guns/squad powers before it gets back up.
Ecci 1 year ago
@Hellbane224 I would have like 2000 shield then

It seems like he never even played mass effect 1. like he just watched a review for it and pretended he knew what the game was like. and like hes saying that he only chose the class thats like over simplified for people that dont know how to do anything but push the right trigger.
DoomChompy 2 years ago 2
i can understand why some people might hate the 1st game because when i 1st played it i had trouble getting used to the controls and after playing for a few minutes i started thinking that the gameplay was terribly done. of course, i gave it another try the next day and started to like it until i finished the game. then i thought " wow, its been an honor to have played one of the best games of 2009" ...
japorms318 2 years ago 2
Not once did I play as a soldier in mass effect 1 and I kinda regretted it. So in ME2 my first playthrough will be as a soldier although the other classes look sooooo badassssss!

ZoraZoldier 2 years ago
@ZoraZoldier range, thats why
Hyroblaze88 2 years ago
Well thats what you have garrus for =P No really, the few times you needed ranged attacks, you just break out the pistol and marksman.
In Me2, vanguards will even have that awesome lungeattack. Man is that going to be OP ^^
ZoraZoldier 2 years ago
i played through 3 times so i could hit all/most of the endings.
kouriichi 2 years ago
but there's only 1 ending in ME, so wtf dude have you even played it?
mh4777abc 2 years ago
Saving and killing the council :/ thats kinda of an ending right?
Albertini234 2 years ago
No, you can choose who to put on the console for the galixy. You can sacrifice the humans or the console in the battle aganist the ravenger things. Not to mention, based on how you played, the text at the ending of the game are leagues apart.
:D i played mass effect. i played it multipul times.
There are different endings. Many really. close to 6 when you really think about it.
kouriichi 2 years ago
it's council and reapers, 1 ending 2 choices at the end regarding the council, and you can convince saren to kill himself for the initial fight using either paragon or renegade choices. so :P
mh4777abc 2 years ago
I played through the first Mass Effect game thrice, once with a Vanguard and twice with an Adept because Biotics are so fucking fun. I tried a Soldier, but it was so tried and trope and boring it wasn't really any fun. It was like playing GOW but really bad.
But the ME2 classes aren't even new, they're the same ones as before, just made a bit more distinct and revamped for the new combat system.
RamboStrategy 2 years ago
I seem to be the only person in the entire world that played through the game twice. >.>
Vanguard and Soldier :3
