This is a scene from the book by Eric Nylund 'The Fall of Reach' which serves as a prequel to Combat Evolved. This takes place when they are in boot on Reach somewhere between the ages of 6 and 14. John is the child on his side, kelly on her back. XD

@Daiiley Only someone completely ignorant of Halo's Storyline would make that assumption, no thats an impossibility as Master Chief is at least 40 years old by Halo 3, Noble Six was a SPARTAN III the third Generation of Spartans where as Chief was a SPARTAN II the second generation, Six was about 25-32 when he died.

Master Chiefs life must have really sucked.

First, being taken away from his family

Then Being forced to work his ass of all day long

and then se his homeworld get glassed and seing inocent people getting killed.

And on reach his entire squad including his best friends get slaughtered rigth before his eyes and being forced into cryp sleep to prevent to take his own life. then see his last friend get killed to and finaly getting trapped in space with a very close friend.

A pretty crappy life..

I actually have the theory that this was not the Master Cheif talking to kelly, but rather Cheif as a child on his home planet before he was kidnapped by UNSC and that was his childhood friend that he meets again in New Mombasa. I think he's back on his home planet in this trailer. but that would HAVE to be before the events on reach.
