they should make it legal, and then add a extra tax to the product. Demand would remain the same, but the government would be able to make a profit from this tax, enabling them to pay of their debt or use these funds to pay for healthcare.

Why could they not tax marijuana. The things we buy are taxed, why would pot be different? Also the industries in place would not suffer, but if you believe the would, please explain. I smoke every day and condone state sovereignty. I could would love for it to be legal, but even more then that, I would love for us to make that choice.
