I personally think that Tinkerbell is Marc's most expressive female character, mainly because she doesn't talk, but the audience pretty much knows what she's thinking the whole time! Tinkerbell I think is the most interesting character in Peter Pan, and the most interesting female character ever in the old Disney films!
From Tinkerbell, to Sleeping Beauty, Marc's women each had their own individual style!
We had decided to do "Sleeping Beauty" as what Walt called a moving illustration so we came up with a style that was different from any other feature film by stylizing the drawings of Briar Rose and Maleficent!
Marc Davis - just really kept Disney's dream going. He deserves all the recognition he can get. We tried doing our small part in our Pirates of the Caribbean episode of PipersPicksTV.
The Tea Party scene in "Alice in Wonderland" is one of the best pieces in Disney animation. the reason that Wendy and Alice look so similar is because they ae both based on the same person, Kathryn Beaumont, the voice of the characters. Tinkerbell is incredibly sexy. Marc Davis' work on Maleficent is one of his best.
@CartoonFan56 Glen Keane when he was animating Ariel in The Little Mermaid no doubt looked at Marc Davis's drawings of women like Alice and Briar Rose, because Marc sort of set an industry standard for drawing those types of characters!!!
I'm sure he designed Wendy in Peter Pan. If you look both Alice and Wendy faces look the same. I wonder why they didn't bring it up in this documentary?

I never understood that hip scene with Tink... Hips are beautiful, why would a woman want to have the figure of a teenage boy?
