  • yea this song was a prayer

  • I was 14 years old, heard this song, had my mind blown, went and bought the cassette tape, read the title and thought, "THREE YEARS!!.....that's so long...."

This song is good for my soul because of itself and because of where I was when I heard it and it's good to remember that version of me.

  • this is old school

  • A GAME OF HORSE SHOES!!

  • Great tune. I love the line "I am still thirsty." Amen to that.

  • remember ordering this on the Box back in the day, the good ol days

  • @Siagonthegod then y r u here??

  • The grammar I see as I read these comments makes me so sad :(

  • @maddmaxxe cuz they like rap

  • Always someone to drop the F-Bomb unprovoked. Nonsensical.

  • <3 I can't describe how much I love this song.

  • i challenge u to a game of horseshoes... a game of HORSE SHOESSS!

  • is echt geil. hasse normalerweise den hiphop heutiger zeit (bin eh ein rocker & so) aber das ist echt cool. naja ich born 1976 war dies übrigens meine teenie-zeit

  • Arrested Development didn't just put ATL on the map they put the South on the map along with OutKast, GoodieMob, Getoboys and all of em' Real Southern Hip Hop

  • This is true poetry classic

  • One of the greatest songs ever even better then some Beatles songs

    one love Speech

  • @RAthaPunisher This song isn't on vevo.

  • @dudenyeh yeah I thought it was vevo but it's emimusic peace fam

  • Don't argue with ignorant people and bigots while Arrested Development is on the sound system. "Hatred never ceases by hatred in this world. By love alone it ceases; this is eternal law." -Gotama the Buddha

    So... just groove.

  • When I was little, I use to laugh my butt off everytime she said a game of horse shoes! Like wtf was she talkimg about in the middle of the song! It was just so random!

  • A GAME OF HORSE-SHOOOOOOOES ... lol my favorite part

  • I wish I could go back in time to the year 1990

  • born in 1997 , its 2011 still in love with this song :)

  • What an innocent time we lived in the 90's. This is where REAL hip hop and REAL music originated and lived. I find it hard to digest the lyrics we hear nowadays. There is a way to sound REAL without sounding soft. BELIEVE ME.

  • GOD PLEASE BRING THIS TYPE OF MUSIC BACK!!!!!!!!!

  • Real shit...

  • vevo took over youtube now its called bootube.ggive back the owner from the jump.cuz videos r loadin madd slow.upgrade vevo or lose urself.

  • Rap with meaning does still exist. It's just been pushed so off the grid, it's underground now. The majority of people today prefer listening to rap about busting caps and fucking bitches. Sad...

  • @awmallek i definitely agree wit you man, this track right here is a real example of "real" rap, rap that comes str8 from the heart

  • i have endless respect for this music!

  • A GAME OF HORSESHOES!

  • Im from Tennessee I love to jam dis

  • I wish someone would upload a instrumental of this. I sometimes heard BET play the instrumental sometimes during commercials a while back.

  • Oh 5th grade. :']

  • I miss conscious rap. Now it's all either wealth porn, trap rap, or emo bullshit. We need these guys back!

  • you know, it's so fucked up that record execs got to a point where they basically blackballed hiphop like this from the mainstream industry.

  • 1 person doesn't like Tennessee.

  • deep shiz dis has so much meanings memories..........

  • I'm 15,and i love this

  • this sort of music brings enlightenment to the listener and makes them question what is occuring in their society and at the same time reminds them of the past.

  • This is when hip hop had a message and made you bob your head at the same time! This album should be in everbodies top ten easily! Today's rappers should be made to study AD, PE, TCQ, JB's, X-Clan, Paris, Del, and if you all got some MCee's to add, fill in the blank_______________, I like saying sho your right!

  • Just saw AD in ATL. Great stuff, brought back memories.

  • @boxanova66 ur racist ass needa step off,,,

  • @yummi118 lol. Don't be so sensitive. He's joking, obviously, and is only saying that because it's a sensitive subject. I think that instead of limiting the freedom of speech, you should build up a fuse.

Slavery was a terrible thing, but the average black american isn't moved by it. If people would forget all about it, there would be no problem at all. The problem itself is that people bring it up, and just that people react to it.

  • @boxanova66 oh,, now black ppl r monkeys?! gtf out of here!

  • @boxanova66 YOU BITCH ASS HOE!

  • @dariusdrums U aint gonna do shit bitch Nigga

  • @Ldc2163 Shut yo hoe ass up nigga

  • @boxanova66 Only a very small minority of people had enough money to own slaves...some say as low as 10%, some say as high as 20%. I can guarantee by your ignorance that even if your family lived in the South back then, the only thing they owned was a still and a shack by the railroad tracks.

  • @boxanova66 Purely ignorant. Makes me embarrassed to mention I'm white. But we all come in the world the same way, and go out the same. If you need to belittle people to feel good about yourself, it's a free country...

  • @lxw0052 I actually really like black people, they're funny, glad we brought them here to live with us :)

  • @boxanova66 Whats there to miss..its still goes on today its just mental. Some how the top1% in this world have convinced the other 99% that they have our best interests in mind!!

  • A GAME OF HORSE SHOES!!!

  • 90's rulezzzz!!!!

  • Niiiccceeee..ty

  • Love it!!!!

  • why is new rap unbearable ?

  • @turgore i wonder the samee thing

  • @yummi118 This is not really rap. Its soul music. This rap that it means something important. The lyrics are straight out of the heart. True soul music..

  • @zjbeast i agree fully,,

  • @zjbeast Hip hop. Rap as a genre is really a sub-genre of hip hop, which has integrated in pop music.

To say new rap is unbearable is prejudice to all new tracks that are like this one. You'd like them, but people dismiss them because of the general attitude towards music that has a rapper on it.

I agree though that the majority of new mainstream rap music is unbearable, but there is a lot of good stuff that is nothing like the rest, which is put under the same titled and ignored by a lot.

  • @zjbeast

rap is soul true hip hop is

  • @zjbeast can anyone say lyrical content??? love songs that actually have a purpose besides fuck this and that

  • @turgore AGREE!

  • lord i've really been real stressed, seeing the way hannah montana's dressed; her torn panties and skirt seem skimpy to me, she's got to be the sexiest thing comin outta tennesse. sometimes when im in my room alone, not a single call on the phone... i go online and view her site, drop my pants n' my load to it all night. And when im all washed and done, i turn on the TV and watch the hannah montana re-run. sometimes my obsession makes me feel kinda silly... guess its time to jerk to Lily ;D

  • @jowston100 fuck u.

  • @jowston100 You mean the show or this band? The show was terrible, this band is damn well awesome.

  • @jowston100

i would like to see your significant contibution to hip-hop?

    no?

thats because you fucken suck. you brainless steaming pile of shit. have a fucken hollow life.

  • Thank you VH1

  • take me to another place, take me to another land

  • You spelled Tennessee wrong at the begining.

  • @Wanksterbufford well sorrry.... its about the song man. no need to point that out when the song is wayyyy more important..

  • @Wanksterbufford and you spelled beginning wrong

  • @Wanksterbufford and you spelled beginning wrong.

  • @Wanksterbufford if you're going to correct others on their spelling, you best get every word right yourself. now you just look stupid! begining? seriously?? anyways, this song is a classic. thanks yummi118 for the upload :)

  • @Wanksterbufford says you who can't spell BEGINNING! Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

  • I Love this video. It is so knowledgeable 4 us!

  • "Headliner I challenge you to a game of horseshoes......A game of HOORRSESHOES." I like the cover art so bad....

  • i love this jam so much.

  • A game of horseshoes...A GAME OF HORSESHOES!!

  • This song is such a throw back from jr. high. I'm not black, but I have childhood memories of my granny and Tennessee. =P

  • Only thing I have never understood about this song is the "horseshoes" bit. Boggles my mind, it does.

  • @TheGreatVarholy its just that simple. its a game of horseshoes. 2 players have actual horseshoes and they toss them in a fashion so that they may land on a metal stake. the person that gets the most on the stake wins! my dad and his friends played this all the time when i was young, and over the holiday he mentioned that he bought a new set!

  • My FAMILY!!!!!!!!

  • OMG! Such a great song! This was the jam back in the day. Crank this while heading to the beach with a big group of friends! Wow! So many memories. Great stuff!

  • I've NEVER understood what Tennessee has to do with this song by a bunch of doped up hippie negroes.

  • @kf8295 . Then why the hell do you continue to listen to it devil? Of course you're not going to get it, you're not suppose to. You devils aren't on the same frequency as US.

And you don't make any sense. "I've NEVER understood what Tennesse has to do with this song......." It's not a matter of what Tennesse has to do with the song because that is the title of the song idiot. Got-damned devil.

  • @kf8295 Listen to the song closely, my narrow-minded and ignorant friend. The backstory is the male singer's grandmother had passed away recently and she either lived or had a house in Tennessee. He had a great deal of good memories of the place so he wrote a song encapsulating his emotions.

  • @kf8295 -- it's about identity. A topic that is *especially* relevant if you were let's say forcibly enslaved and shipped thousands of miles from your home to a new land where you were seen and treated as property, not a person. Slaves took on the last names of their masters, families were routinely torn apart and people literally lost track of who they were. The song is about that. It celebrates having actual roots to return to, something that was not always the case for African Americans b4.

  • @kf8295 -- In other words, "you can't know where you're heading if you don't know where you're coming from..."

  • @kf8295 That "Doped Up Hippie Negro" is a minister and the brother of a good friend.

  • A Game of Horseshoee!!

  • it would be so awesome if they could put up da instrumental version

  • my fav song by them is mr. wendal, but this is prolly second

  • take me to another place take me to another land make me forget all that hurts me let me understand your plan*

  • definately underrated

  • Arrested Devolpements iz 1 of the best rap groups eva!!!

  • early 90's this had the club rockin', but they only played the instrumental. so when that hook came on the club went wild.

this was so new and so different from the rugged hip hop that came on the scene and reminded us what hip hop was all about

  • AAaahhhh....i have figured out how to be 16 again! Thanks to you!!

  • This was real music.

  • Takes me back I miss the early 90's so bad .

  • this is the all time best song i mean you just feel good when you hear it to day cuz you cant help but to go back to when it came out and those were some good times

  • Come on. New Found Glory? Forget them.

  • The orinigal is always better then a crunk remix

  • Man I love this song! Thanks so much for uploading an audio only version!!

  • ur welcome
