Well then dukeaddict237 call me a racist. I absolutely have a problem with it. But my problem isn't with the islamic faith. It is the group behind this specific center. This group (I can provide the name if you want it) has a radical foundation and its leaders have been caught several times calling for Sharia Law in America and down playing our role as the victim of the attacks. Also, religion isn't a race so you calling me a racist doesn't really make sense here.

@gerryk32 We should not allow a Mosque to be built within the first 10 miles of Ground Zero, if you disagree, you have no business living here in the United States. When the muslims have beaten us, then after they have beaten me, then, they may build a Mosque wherever they please within this Nation. As a smybol of victory. But otherwise, we Americans will fight for an American building to be put in the area at or around Ground Zero. End of story.

Thank you to all the Firefighters,PoliceOfficers,EMS workers,First Responder and all who answered the call of duty at the peril of their own lives on that very fateful day. Let us remember for not the way they died,but the way they LIVED,and the lessons we have learned. If a House of Worship is to be built at Ground Zero,let it be an interfaith one. As an active duty Marine I support the costitution of the U.S. Against all enemies whether they are foriegn OR domestic. Regardless of what you all think of know, we all were affected by it one way or another. And the mosque thing. I totally disagree with the idea of ever having one near ground zero. If you have lost someone near and dear to you on that day in those towers I ask this: Would you want something like a mosque built over where they were killed? I don't

Though an idea it may be, does not really possess something that would benefit the whole of the city there. What is needed is something that would benefit everyone. Of all race/creeds/religions...

A place where those who do believe in a higher power can go, not just to remember. But, to ask for guidance. From whatever religion you may be. We are all arguing of what we don't want there. Yet no one has ever made mention of what "should" be there.

It isn't a mosque. It's just an Islamic community center in a typical looking building a few blocks away. There's already an Islamic place of worship already nearby with 2 other Christian churches around the area too so I really think this whole debate is blown out of proportions.

I can understand the reason why people don't want a Mosque built over Ground Zero, (and personally, the only reason I don't want it built is because I think only a memorial built to those who died that day deserves to stand there) but in all honesty, the Muslims that live in America are Westernized to an extent that they /most likely/ wouldn't follow Shariah (sp?) law to such a degree as the bombers do.
