  • Hi,

Im a female 20 years old and experiencing overall thinning of each hair and reduction in numbers especially near the temples. My physician said that its hereditary and gave me minoxodil but it barely worked. I am using oils all the time and the quality of my hair is good. I need to know if laser light therapy would do me good or a higher minoxidil level. If there is no cure I'll cope with it but I just want to know if there is something I can do. Thank you for this informative video :)

  • @PRRCanada Hi, I believe women use a less strong version of minoxodil as recommended. I would stick with what your doctor prescribed. It can take a while to see results. Have you given it enough time? Unfortunately, I am not familiar with laser light therapy for hair loss. Sorry.

  • Hi, i am 20 yrs old and my hair has just started falling out!, ive noticed it feels alot thinner, but it is most noticeble on the sides near my temple and on the sides when my hair is back. kinda like its receeding?Do u know the most likely cause of this form of thinning? blood tests came back normal and currently waiting test for high testosterone but i dont think its that, I haven't straightened, blowdryed or coloured it in over 4 months:( any advice please?:( i dont want to end up with no hair

  • @Samiisabelle91 Hi, as you know there may be many reasons for your hair to thin out or fall out as I share with you in my video. It's best if you examine your life and try to pinpoint any type of situations or behaviors in the last several months as possible causes. I talk about these in my video. You don't mention whether you are male or female, but if you are male, you'll want to also consider hereditary factors as well as lifestyle. You have done the right thing by seeing your doctor.

  • @Samiisabelle91 It is possible that your methods of styling your hair has caused damage to your follicles, but that's hard for me to say without knowing or seeing you. You may want to speak to your hairdresser who can assess the health of your hair. You may also want to see a dermatologist as they specialize in skin disorders and are very informed about the scalp and hair.

  • I have been off birth control for two months, and my hair is falling out like crazy, every time I run my finger through it one hair comes out! Help

  • @SLFbeauuty Hi, that can be caused by the hormonal shift of stopping the pill and should subside. Your body will regulate itself in a few months.

  • LADIES, How many of you dig us guys with long thick hair and would without thinking twice about it date us and have a relationship and fun with us GIVE ME THE THUMBS UP LETS HEAR YA

  • LADIES How many of you would NOT date or have a romantic relationship with bald men even if he has other good qualities, if his baldness would be the total turn off give me thumbs up.

  • Hi! My hair is curly and dry..I suffer from hair breakage which i dont understand because i trimmed my hair last week . Before i trimmed my my hair i used to loose a lot of hair especially when i washed my hair and now i still do (well less then before but still) , sometimes i only run my fingers trough my hair gently and taaddaa!! i'll have hair all tangled around my fingers... i really hate that , could you help me please?

  • thank you

  • my thinning hair and hair loss is really upsetting me :( , you helped me have a better understanding on whats going on. thank you so much for this video, i will try the scalp massage.

  • Lots of my scalp shows when my hair is wet. My TSH was slightly high and I had iron deficiency a couple of years ago, but all my levels are normal now. Still, my hair is not in good shape. My diet is great, I exercise a lot, etc. One doctor told me I had female pattern baldness but my mom didn't believe that. Then I saw a dermatologist and she just kept sending me for blood tests. No answers. I am 17 and this started when I was 15. What do I do?

  • Hi, it is common for more of your scalp to show when your hair is wet. How does it look when your hair is dry and do you see bald patches? If your blood test have come back normal that's great. Have you had your hormone levels checked during those blood tests. Perhaps your problem is related to a hormonal imbalance. They may have checked that when they checked your TSH. When you say your hair is not in good shape, what do you mean. Can you be more specific? How is your stress level?

  • Birthcontrol also causes hair loss?! Omg..

  • sensitivity to these harsh detergents and find that their hair falls from it. Many of these types of shampoos are sold in natural food stores. You can check online for shampoos that do not contain it if you do not have a whole food or health food store nearby.

  • Hi, hair does go through cycles where you lose a bit more than usual. Just because your dad had thinning hair does not mean you will so don't feel you are doomed. You could very well take after mom. Finding the right shampoo that works for you and leaves your hair moisturized but not greasy after one day can be a trial and error. I would like to suggest that you try a shampoo for dry hair that does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate. Many people have ......cont'd

  • @YouTips4U im aware that MPB is carried on the mothers chromosone, but my mom was adopted so i dont know about her dad or grandfather. However, my dad and grandfather both lived/died with a full head of hair and i have the same type of hair as my dad. does this mean that i wont go bald?

  • Hi, if you have the same type of hair as your dad, it is very possible that you will have a full head of hair throughout life just as he did. I know many people who's maternal grandfather had thinning hair or balding and they had thick heads of hair throughout life. So just because a maternal grandfather had mpb, doesn't mean you will definitely get it. I believe that both parents contribute to their children's hair pattern.

  • By the way, very nice videos. You're very knowledgeable.

  • Hi, if you have concerns, start by asking your hairdresser. If she feels that your scalp showing is more than normal, then you can see a dermatologist for an opinion. I'm not a doctor or nurse and it's hard for me to know if what you are describing is normal without really seeing your hair. I hope I could help :o)

  • What about scalp showing?

My scalp shows in the middle - around the top of my head, at times.

I've parted my hair in two ways, it used to be on the left of my head, and then down the middle for a few years, but now its just not parted at all, I keep it sort of natural.

My hair looks normal when I part it from the middle ... but I dont know.

  • Hi, it is normal for your scalp to show a bit at your part. Sometimes when you wear your hair parted in a certain way for a long period of time , it can become a bit more prominent. It can widen if you wear hairstyles that pull on your part like tight ponytails or braids, you could cause hair to fall at that area. It's a good idea to vary your part and also to avoid wearing hairstyles that pull on your hair. Things like cornrows as I mention in the video.

  • I take streess waaay too easily..

  • Thank you :o)

  • The problem with me is stress

  • @ColombianaXO7: Yes it can, the best thing is to first rehydrate your body. Second you can use the aloe gel in the plant - not the synthetic type. There are also many other things to do for dry scalp.

  • i always had thick hair my parents have thick hair but i have been dying and using heat since i am about 10 .. now .... my hair is SOOO thin its really badis there hope of me getting it back ? also eversince i started bleaching my hair its very itchy and i have lil bumps kinda like pimples i have stopped coloring my hair but is there anything else i can do ? please help me !! i do not leave my house due to my hair it depresses me

  • @aBcbeautyy: The bumps along your scalp are basically waste build-up. Also depending where the bumps are , will indicate where the issue rests. There is something written on my channel in the comment section that expresses the link between hair pulling and systemic issues - this may help you to better understand your break outs.

  • Hi, start of with a good trim to remove any dry or damaged hair that may have resulted from bleaching. Then take gentle care of your hair. Be sure to use conditioner after every shampoo and I recommend using a deep conditioner once a week. Please see my video on deep conditioning with olive oil. With proper care, your hair will regain it's thickness and luster. Be careful with heat styling because it can be very damaging.

  • hi, im 19 years old .. i have long blonde hair. It isn't natural but ive had blonde hair my whole life aswell. i have not noticed a difference in losing hair until recently. I've noticed after i take a shower and wash my hair that it falls out the most then. i dont use extremely hot water or do anything different from what i normally do I do not use heat on my hair other than a blow dryer. My diet is also the same as it has always been i can't figure out why this is happening any suggestions?

  • @VUSTAH: There are a number of things that can cause hair loss, but keep in mind tap water has a lot of chlorine and fluoride which can contribute to hair loss - also certain deficiencies can create issues.

  • Hi, the only way to know whether you are losing more hair than normal is to count them. You should count the hair in your drain after you shampoo (be sure you use a hair snare to collect the hair so it doesn't go down the drain). You should also count the hairs in your hairbrush. Start the day with a clean hairbrush and count them at night before bed. When you have long hair, it can appear as though you are losing a lot of hair because they are so long , but actually you are not. Good luck.

  • You forgot to talk about hair falling out cuz of being poisond

  • no he didnt say anything else.

  • hi, the Dr sent me for a blood test n then put me on iron tablets, its been over a year now.

  • Hi, you should have your blood retested to see if you still need to be taking iron tablets. You may have built your iron stores back up and no longer need them.

  • Hi, thank u for ur usefull information. i really have an hairloss problem and look for any possible help, ive spent hundreds of £sss n still not helped. my hairline is getting bigger n im getting patches at the front which really lowers my confidence level, i try to cover it up with a fringe but still dnt feel good. im 28 yrs of age by the way. ive tried taking multivitamins tablets daily, been to the Drs n kind of giving up hope now... could u plzzz help me? thank u.

  • Hi, you don't mention what the doctor said may be causing this. Did he/she give you a diagnosis?

  • I was losing hair recently and it was because my doctor was I wasn't eating right and I needed vitamins so I started taking "Mega Food 100% whole food" and they have so many vitamins and such and it really helped :)

  • hi. i am a 12 year old girl with hairloss....actually i cut my hair really shirt underneath...and it's by my neck.... i want it to grow back b4 school starts...plz help me.... there's not barely a hand full of hair on my left side.. all myhair is on the rite side....i do not want exstentions,tho....

  • Hi, unfortunately, you will have to be patient for a while and let it grow. To help it grow and stay healthy, be gentle with it by limiting heat styling and any hair style that may cause breakage so you don't have to trim it too frequently. Also keep the ends conditioned to help prevent split ends and breakage.

  • Hi there, I have been losing hair since April and I find it mainly in the bathroom but even though it's only about 50 or so hairs a day it is a lot mire than usual and my hair feels very thin and sift. I am 53 and have been kn the pill for 1 yr now since HRT doesn't agree. Can it still be menopause even though I'm on the pill? I might go for a thyroid test, if it is thyroid will it grow back with proper meds? Thsnkyou in advance Nancy

  • Hi Nancy, one of the side effects of going on the pill can be hair loss. The pill causes a shift in your hormones and since hormones control hair growth it can be affected. Please know that 50 hairs a day is not abnormal, in fact it is well below average.

  • hi, first of all my english is not very good but ill try because i really need help :S my hair tips gets damage very fast , they become very dry and they break easily. i thought that it was because i used to use bons , (i think thats how they are called) so i decided to cut my hair and remove all the damage and stop making myself bons and leave my hair in a normal ponny tail BUT it still happening :( help plz

  • Hi,

I am wondering whether clip-in hair extensions could also cause hair fallout. I have been trying to grow out my hair but I occasionally wear extensions. Also, would you recommend getting a keratin treatment for healthier hair? Thanks so much , I love your videos :)

  • Hi, as long as it is not pulling on your hair, it should be o.k. If you feel that it puts tension on your roots, then I would avoid them. Keratin in the protein found in your hair and it is the latest craze for treatments. My recommendation if you want to do a protein treatment for your hair is to use egg. It's natural and works great - no chemicals. Please go to my blogspot for a great recipe.

  • Hi, you hair can thin due to breakage if your hair is dry as well. Having a dry scalp will not cause hair to thin or it to fall out. I recommend that you use a moisturizing conditioner for your hair and massage your scalp with jojoba oil to help relieve the dryness and itching.

  • Hi,

Hair length is genetically pre-determined, correct? Say for example one person can grow hair to their waist, while another person can only grow their hair shoulder length. Would you agree?

  • Hi, hair growth patterns is genetically determined and also affected by lifestyle. So both come into play.

  • i started to loose so much hair and i didnt know why.......but i think it was bcos when i bath,i use a really warm water so then i started to use cold water and i started to recieve less hair fall

  • @angietheboo: Although it can happen with cool water, warm water opens the pores faster allow certain chemicals to make contact with the roots and loosening them out. The better thing to do is wear a shower cap and when washing your hair wash it in the sink with cool water.

  • yes- hair loss can be due to many factors... but- hair growth is only due to ONE factor... blood circulation. There is NO product that will make your hair grow... but- the act of rubbing -massaging your scalp, brushing your hair, shampooing EVERYDAY- increases blood flow & your hair grows. (your hair is dead the minute you can see it on your head- the hair bulb is below the scalp) Bottomline- Eat Right- Don't take drugs- shampoo daily & trim your ends every 6 weeks to keep your hair healthy.

  • @akamissrubytuesday "trim your ends every 6 weeks to keep your hair healthy."

Trimming your hair is an urban legend perpetuated by hair care industry to keep clients coming back regularly. hair doesn't have to be trimmed every 6 weeks to grow. I deliberately told my stylist to 'stop trimming' my hair and voila it grows and is healthy and is just fine. Hair trimming gives the 'appearance of neatness, just like trimming a hedge, but it's not necessary. In fact if you want length don't trim.

  • @nancydrew5 - I've been doing hair for over 35 years & I trim my ends every 4 weeks- the reason I tell my clients to do it every 6 weeks- is to maintain the style they have & to remove the split ends they aquire from excessive blow drying. Example- most people who complain of headaches don't realize the direct connection to the hair bulb- & generally have greasy nasty hair caused by lack of shampooing & the inability for the oil to drop off the hair- due to the accumulation of split ends.

  • @akamissrubytuesday "he reason I tell my clients to do it every 6 weeks- is to maintain the style they have & to remove the split ends they aquire from excessive blow drying."

Again this trimming as you yourself pointed out is to maintain the hair style, to maintain the hair's 'neat appearance.' None of which has anything to do with the health and growth of hair. If you want to maintain your hair cut/style then trim the ends, if you want to grow length leave the ends alone.

  • @akamissrubytuesday

The problem is hairstylist who tell clients that they 'NEED" to trim their ends in order for their hair to grow and that's an outright lie! As Youtips says, hair doesn't grow from the end, it's dead once it shoots out of the scalp so logically how can cutting off dead hair cause it to grow? It's just a myth to get clients in a beauty salon chair. Hair stylist cut too many clients hair unecessarily all in the name of 'trimming ends' split ends aren't that bad.

  • @nancydrew5 I have NEVER told a client to cut their hair to make it grow faster... I've always known that blood circulation IS the ONLY thing that stimulates hair growth. Just like retards that believe shaving will cause their hair to grow back thicker. NOT TRUE- Hair grows according to your health- & your family genes. The only reason to trim your ends is to maintain the style you have & to keep it from looking destroyed after use of styling tools. -

  • @akamissrubytuesday "I have NEVER told a client to cut their hair to make it grow faster..."

That's great the you don't tell your clients that lie. I've had many stylist who spout that nonsense ad nauseum like you won't believe. They repeat it like it's the unvarnished truth. Or worse, they'll just start cutting the hair without even asking the client's permission. They don't know if the client is trying to grow the hair out or anything. They just start 'trimming' but really 'cutting'.

  • @akamissrubytuesday ""trim your ends every 6 weeks to keep your hair healthy.""

In an earlier statement on this very thread, you said this which perpetuates that myth of hair's health is dependent upon keeping the ends trimmed when it really isn't. This is what I'm talking about. Trimming ends merely makes hair look neater and maintains a style it has nothing to do with making hair healthy. It's only for appearance.I really wish stylist would clarify this and stop telling this lie.

  • I appreciate you making this video. You sound like a doctor. Great job!

  • great tips .thanks again. do you an idea how to hide a thinning hair especailly on crown area!!

  • Hi, you want to create some volume to cover up the thinning. You can do this first by getting a cut that layers your hair in the crown area as with layered bangs or you can have long bangs. Also, blow dry your hair upside down to enhance volume. You may also want to consider getting highlights. Highlights create volume because they cause the hair shaft to swell. Speak to your stylist and tell him/her what you are trying to achieve. They can be very effectively placed for enhanced volume.

  • ur nice and pleasant to watch. pretty pretty... :)

  • Hi!

My viewers from Poland asked me to make a video about hair loss because I have beautiful hair and frankly speaking I had no idea how to make this video - I have the same knowledge as you have but this topis is SO HUGE that it's hard to close a subject in one video or two.

Anyways, thats for this video, great tips and you are a professional - as always! ;))

    Have a great weekend!;)

  • A+

  • Thank you so much :)

  • Thank you so much for this video. It was very concise and covered everything well. I've been losing hair for 2 years and is more pronounced thinning at the front and also now some at the crown. I'm still in my early 20's and I think it is stress but I think my shampoo may be responsible, namely sodium laureth sulfate in shampoos. What do you think about this? Is SLS harmful and a cause of hair loss? Also, could you give us some tips on how to boost hair growth naturally? Thank you so much!!

  • Hi, you are right on target. Your hair loss can most definitely be caused by stress, as well as an allergic reaction to SLS. SLS is a strong detergent used to produce lather. A certain percentage is allowed to be used in shampoos, soaps and toothpaste, however, many people cannot tolerate and can be allergic it. My suggestion is that you purchase a shampoo that does not contain it and see how your hair reacts. You will have to give it a bit of time to see the results.

  • As I said in the video, healthy hair comes from the inside, so examine your diet and make sure you are getting proper nutrition. Very often if you are stressed, you may also be dieting or missing meals or not eating the proper food groups. Please see my YouTips Forum Video on Growing Hair faster and my video on Scalp Massage. Scalp massage can help stimulate your hair follicles to grow hair, and please remember your health comes first, so be kind to yourself, practice relaxation, and exercise.

  • @msmistreat Use organic extra virgin coconut oil. Bought at Vitamin Shoppe. I lose alot of hair due to the gardasil shot. Never got the 3rd. Thank God. Its been 4 and a half years since, and it has grown back about 95%. I still have 3 inch hairs all over my head so It is still growing. But yes Diet is key. Excersice as well. Take your vitamins!!! Biotin 5mg and folic acid and a multi daily. I believe there are always answers. Im 27 and I know how u feel!!

  • @msmistreat: There is a naturopathic approach for hair loss.

  • @4chango I've never heard of that...I assumed the above suggestions were natural.

  • Hey great videos!

This is a bit of a weird question but what about eyebrow hairs? my eyebrow hair seems to fall out really easily nowadays I dread to touch them or wash my face with a wash cloth, my head hair is falling out excessively also.

  • Hi, not a weird question at all. Eyebrows to have phases just like hair does. You lose eyebrows regularly as well. However, if you notice that you are losing them excessively and much quicker than normal and you are not contributing to the cause with excessive rubbing or any type of chemical treatment, then I would consult a doctor. Your doctor will be able to tell if something is out of balance.

  • Sometimes people lose hair excessively due to thyroid disorder. This is true of scalp hair as well as eyebrow hairs. I am not a doctor, as you know, but I do think what you are experiencing is definitely something to see the doctor about. Hopefully the doctor will tell you all is well and you are just experiencing a temporary situation. Take care :o)

  • @xxxalefxxx Check your thyroid. Eyebrows fall out due to a thyroid issue. My cousin has the same problem.

  • Great video! I have a question off topic here, when are you making a new relaxation video again? :)

  • Hi, I'm so glad you like my relaxation videos. I do have one coming soon :o)

  • Wonderful video!! I have a question-I don't wash my hair everyday (maybe every 2-3 days) and on the off days I don't wash my hair I don't notice many hairs falling out but when I do wash my hair I have a lot of hair that falls out into my hands. Could it just be a buildup of hairs from the past few days? Thanks so much!! :)

  • Hi, absolutely. When you wash your hair you loosen hairs that are already in the resting phase and ready to fall out as you shampoo your scalp. You could have lost them when combing or brushing as well, Massaging your scalp daily is another great way to loosen dead hairs that you can then brush away on those days that you don't shampoo.. I too lose most of my hairs during my shampooing.

  • @YouTips4U Oh wonderful, that is relieving! I'm glad it happens to others too! Thank you so much for your reply! I really appreciate it :)

  • Low iron is hugely responsible for hair loss. So many women do not get enough if they are dieting or are vegetarian.

  • thank you <3
