  • @avusligatus More likely chromatic harmonica. I don't know if this is the same recording, but he made one of this piece with the harmonicist George Fields.

  • previous to his 1965 Grammy Award (see below), in 1959 his album "Duets with the Spanish Guitar" (with Salli Terri and Martin Ruderman, produced by Robert E Myers and engineered by Sherwood Hall III) won the 'Grammy Award for Best Engineered Record, Classical'

    and in 1961 he won the Grammy Award for 'Best Classical Performance, Vocal or Instrumental, Chamber Music' for the album "Conversations with the Guitar" (again together with Salli Terri and Martin Ruderman)

  • Laurindo Almeida (September 2, 1917, São Paulo, Brazil--July 26, 1995, Van Nuys, California) was a Brazilian classical guitarist.

    Prior to being invited to the United States in 1947 by Stan Kenton, Laurindo Almeida played guitar in Rio de Janeiro where he was known for his classical Spanish guitar playing.

    In 1965 he won Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Jazz Performance - Large Group or Soloist with Large Group. He died on July 26th 1995, aged 77.
