hey would you be interested in trading or selling that ??? my mom used to love this song when she was a child and this would be a good birthday present plus im not sure where else to get it lol
Technically that copy is a reissue there; the original has the Batwing design; this copy here was pressed in 1928 (the original catalog number is 18940.) But close enough to the real thing here!
@pannoni1 Thanks, but no, this is a completely new issue, electrically recorded on August 25, 1926, but not pressed until 1928. The batwing label was acoustically recorded and pressed in 1922. It is note for note the same arrangement as the 1922 recording. He even recorded an almost impossibly syrupy one on Coral in 1955!
@VictrolaJazz Are you a Gatsby fan? Have you heard that they're remaking it with Leo Dicaprio as Gatsby? I cant' wait for it. I just cant! haha. Oh,cool. thanks for looking at my channel.
@thelonelyslayer I certainly am! I remember reading the book while in college and also saw the movie when it first came out, along with other of Scott Fitzgerald's books about the jazz age. It's about time another Gatsby came out, too--I was not aware that one was in the offing.
@VictrolaJazz yeah, i've read Fitzgerald's first 3 books. love them. yeah, they're casting for it right now. it'll probably come out next year or 2012. Leonoardo Dicaprio as Gatsby and Tobey Maguire as Nick. I forgot who's playing Daisy though.
Amazing!

@urbanexplorer1996 No, I'm sorry I don't want to part with it. Look on eBay, there are many Whitemans listed always with reasonable Buy-it-Nows.

This is my favorite version.
It always reminds me of Daisy leaving Gatsby's mansion.
