I have had two of these great airplanes and I have to tell you that you were just inches away from a tip stall on that takeoff. The Beaver has long wings and a short tail moment and WILL tip stall if you try to turn her at low speed. Also, why were you taking off with full flaps? This bird takes off with no, or half flaps and lands with full flaps and a bit of throttle. Be careful my friend or your will be swimming to bring her home.
one question...you mounted the float mount braces not acc. the manual, or?
I think you changed the rear and front support. Acc. the manual the rear support has a higher "altitude" and the front support a lower position.
May be you had some bad experience like me today that the front part of the plane is too low during floating or starting phase and catches too much water...
hey just getting started on my new Beaver!! what size motor spacer did you use? the plane comes with 2 ..half inch or 3/8..im using the power 32 and floats..any help would be GREAT!! Thanks
Not sure beacuse I don't have the plane to reference , but from what I recall you can pre-fit the motor and spacers using the cowling to get an idea what you use.. also depends on if you are using the power 25 or Power 32... and check the manual as well.. good luck and hope this helps..Tim
I love that prop!! I ordered the power 32 motor and the 60 amp pro..what 3 bladed prop should I get? or should I stick with the 2 bladed prop. Im not worried about speed..just power..short take off.. I pick-up my beaver in a couple of days..after watching your video my brother and I both bought one! I fly the E-flite Stearman, can I handle the Beaver? THANKS.. GREAT FLYING
@curt2e Hi Great question and thanks for commenting.. Its the Master Airscrew 12X8 3 blade the 3 blade will give you great power to pull you out of the water.. Yes the Beaver flies like a cub. Just cant do much with the floats on you will be fine. LOL, that's fantastic you got one, good luck keep me posted..Tim

Great vid! I was wondering how FAST this plane goes. I intend to use it for FPV flying. I plan on using a 25 motor and 3s battery. Also, would you say the 32 motor is to much if the plane has no floats? Lastly, how long are the flights?
All great questions She flys about 50 to 60 mph with out the floats and yes u could use a motor less then the power 32 if u are not using floats...Flight times I was getiing easy 7 min.. good luck and thanks for commenting..Tim
Hey great video! Im just finally getting mine put together. This is my first plane that has flaps, so I am curious, how do you get the flaps to drop down slow like that? Thanks!
@pyrokylehatch Hi Thanks fantastic that you have this plane you will like it,, To get the servos to slow its in the radio. The radio has a feature to slow the servos in programing mode. its a 9 channel JR 9503.. thanks for the comment .. Tim
@TinkerManRC I wondered if that was the case. I have the Spektrum DX6 which I thought was a fairly advanced radio but I haven't found anything about programming servo speed. I'll keep playing with the radio and see what I find out about that! Thanks!
Hi, I'm picking up my DHC-2 Beaver next week and am wondering if you still stand by your recommendation for the Parkzone 1090 servos. Some are pointing me towards the Hitec 225 or the servo that E-Flite recommends which is the JR Sport MN-48. I have several Parkzones planes and have yet to have an issue with any of their servos.
Aside from performance, is the PKZ 1090 a perfect fit or did you have to make some minor modifications to get them to fit?
As you may know there are very many servos to choice from as for me I do like the metal gear Park Zone digital 1090 1091 servos you can beat them for price and strength I have used them is many planes and they are awesome. The other servos will work as well. no mods to get them to fit from what I can remember. Just make sure that if you add the floats you need a good servo to power the rubber on the floats and the rudder on the plane.. Good luck .Tim
@TinkerManRC Thanks Tim. Works for me. I'll go with the Parkzone 1090's. In a worst case scenario, I'll have some spares for my Parkzone planes. Thanks for responding. Cheers
hi, im new to RC flying and im wondering whether i should get a e-flite beaver, e-flite apprentice or a park zone super cub. I want a good beginer plane to start out with and those are my choices
@Icywolf44 Hi The Park Zone Super Cub would be a great plane to start out with for a beginner. get the flying down with that bird and then move up..Good luck..Tim
How do you find the 3 bladed MAS props? I've noticed that you run them on several aircraft including your hobbyzone super cub. I've tried them on several aircraft including the supercub and the e-flite sukhoi and I've found them to perform no where near as good as an equivalent 2 bladed prop. My dad has the same beaver and he's considering a 3 bladed prop for it so I was just curious what kind of experience you've had with them. Thanks.
I find that they work well, for instance with DHC Beaver using the 3 bladed prop it makes a ton of thrust and gets me out of the water quicker but it does not have the speed. With that plane you need power to get you out of the water. I’m running the E-flite Power 32 on a 4 cell. With these’s props the trick is make sure you have a strong motor to turn them keep the rpm’s up and they make a ton of thrust, and they look scale on some models.Thanks..Tim
Great, thanks. He's running the power 32 with a castle 75amp datalogging ESC so he should be producing the same power. I found in the past that the few 3 bladed props that i've tried were not tracking properly so I was getting vibrations but looking back on it I may not have had a good prop reamer at the time so it's possible that the hole was elongated or something?
We're defiantly looking for the scale look with that plane so a 3 bladed prop and a nice tru-turn spinner would be ideal. I'm also looking to run a similar setup on my electrifly edge 540. I saw your videos on that bird as well and I enjoyed them.
She's gorgeous! That seems like a lot of flap for takeoff, have you tried less flap still for lift but less drag? I might get the Beaver and use the E-flite 25 motor and would love a 3 blade prop it looks so scale and black instead of that grey APC 2 blade, do you have a 3 blade to recommend for the 25? Wonderful video thanks...
@dessertjeff Yes I have tried various flap positions and I go about have flaps now since I have flown it for a while. Depends what size battery you use as far as 3 cell 4 cell I would say recommend a 12X8 Master AirScrew.. Good luck on your choices.Tim
Nice video at a nice location. Do you protect the electronics in case of a water mishap? I'm trying to choose between the Beaver or the Taylorcraft 450. Thanks for the video.
@vistastang Did not really have to protect the electronics she sits nice and high off the water and the model is closed up real well. Good luck on your choice and thanks for the comments
