Its more luck than judgment that he didn't rip the wings off and kill himself.
Ultralights are not rated for aerobatics so are just not designed or built to handle the stresses (especially negative G wing loading) when performing aerobatics. Anybody that takes risks like this is worse than a moron.
I don't mind them killing themselves as theyr'e just improving the gene pool, but when (not if) they crash it gives the rest of us in the sport a bad name and higher insurance bills.
Bob Hoover would be proud!!!!! This guy knows what he is doing. As one remembers the laws of physics one can do what would seem by be dangerous and undoable! Jolly well done say's I!
Looks like a Beaver RX550 at King George airfield in Surrey, BC. Nice to know that the Canadian designed and built Beaver is so structurally sound. Not I would attempt multiple snap rolls in one. Impressive design.
@wcresponder Actually, the pilot did forget everything. He was supposed to be getting groceries, returning some library books and having the oil changed on his car. This video proves that he completely forgot all of these things.
I see many things that suggust this was not a first solo flight, I think it not wise to push an ultra light airframe in such a manner , one thing interesting is how many new pilots know how to do a tail slide on approuch to lose alt for a proper landing humm. just sayin
@mightymouse1204 It is not a "tail slide." The maneuver is called a slip. Glider and ultralight pilots do this a lot to lose excess altitude on final approach. You are right however, about stressing the airframe. Many ultralights were promoted as aerobatic in the early 1980's, which led to quite a few fatalities, not the least of which was structural failure. Take, for example the Rally 2B with the inverted control stick. The pilot moved the stick left to bank to the right.
I didn't think the engine could keep running due to fuel starvation. Guess I was wrong. Maybe he keeps it in the positve g's all the time in those manouvers?
should trick those afraid of flying on that plane, with that pilot, and force them to face their fears... or give them a legitimate reason to be afraid lol. great flying though a little too risky for my taste.
A lot of these aircraft are tested to +10 -6. I doubt that at the speed he was doing he ever reached +4 and -2. It's only the overly safety conscious powers that be telling us that ultralights are dangerous and must only be flown slowly in straight and level.
Having said that, this guy has more experience than all the pilots posting here put together times infinity.
Nice job. very clean. But you really shouldn't encourage them. They all think they're a Maverick in the making...
hes a highly profesional pilot who knows how to fly if he was a student hi would have lost it by now and that thing is tricked up with a very powerfull motor to pull its self out of trouble . good flying well done
Biggest problem he seemed to have was inconsistent power and failure to engage down elevator. Finally towards the end he found the appropriate elevator and power combination which gave him level forward flight. On the job training in the air is a bad idea.
Lots of people under estimate the strength of these craft.
A friend of mind got caught up in a bad storm in a Quicksilver. He thought he would die. Once on the ground, he inspected the frame to find nothing wrong.
He began doing mild areobatics soon after knowing how strong they are built.
Ok this is a credible comment, that ultra lite is not rated for those loads, this person is luck the the wing didn't fold 20 times over and the altitude much of this was at was even too low for a chute!! Very bad judgment!!!
A PROFESSIONAL pilot would have more altitude in his pocket. This looks like a young flight instructor, starving .......for attention. I expect him to get LAID......to REST ~!
We used to ask our new clients if they would like to go for a flight we called "the one-thousand foot surprise." When they asked what it was, we would reply "If we told you, it would not be a surprise!"
It's called 3D flying. there are R/C pilots who's doing this kind of flying using R/C airplane, in order to do this kind of stuff you must have lot's of skills and simulator (time), did he flown R/C airplane before he flown the ultralight? looks like he knows what he is doing. Passenger : Excuse me mister pilot.. Can we please try to fly on a straight line preferably toward our destination without rolling all the time? I have a meeting set up and I dont want to be late, plus my coffee and little sandwich are now in my pants. Yes.. IN my pants not just on them..
Pilot : Please sir get back to your seat.. (mumbling:) Now where did I that beer...
