Wow, just saw some of the comments and I think people are quite harsh. Whatever happened to treating people like the way you like to be treated?
I don't get all the flaming that goes on on youtube. Sometimes it's best to keep your nasty comments to yourself, well at least that's what my mother taught me as a child. Have some manners.
I am looking to build a similar stone wall but was wondering whether to use steel reinforcing round bars to make sure the wall doesn't crack? How is the wall holding up? I like the idea of the timber retainer, I want to use a similar idea but I will remove the timber once the concrete sets.
I was also curious if you dug a small trench under the wall first?
Looks great for a do it yourselfer, good on you bro. That tip about the backfilling has solved a problem I had. To you anal critics you'd be lucky to last five minutes doing anything in America with your screwed up economy.
And guess what its stood the test of time. The people bought the place because of it. He built a retaining wall thats even bigger in a hilly section that has known for heavy rainfall. And guess what that too has stood the test of time and all weather conditions. So who cares what you think in America. We can do things our way that works for us on a budget? You obviously got no sense of humour in Yank Land lol?

Hello fellow NZ friend,
I am looking to build a similar stone wall but was wondering whether to use steel reinforcing round bars to make sure the wall doesn't crack? How is the wall holding up? I like the idea of the timber retainer, I want to use a similar idea but I will remove the timber once the concrete sets.

This is great. Simple, straightforward, do-able. Thanks much. I've got a ton of river rock and I'm going to get busy. Thanks.

You're Wrong! A blind drunk man with no hands, arms or feet could do a better job than that slopped together mess.
