  • Dude it's like you're talking to yourself.

  • I cannot hear you.

  • I learned Python first , and now I can't get too much into Java. Not that Java is worst, but Python is so dynamic that when you have to start declaring variables you nearly fall asleep. But I won't give up.

  • java vs monkey

  • i though it was photoshopped but it is real omg

  • Go learn Python all the way.

It's very easy, good learning experience and generally a very good language.

And interfaces further to c/c++ (libboost etc) fortran etc with ease.

You will get a good knowledge of programming without having to jump the hoops of Java. Java might be more used, and it's a miracle how a JVM can have any speed with the gazillion abstractions / complexities they use.

But Python will make you a better programmer.

  • I cannot hear anything, learn how to edit sound in videos

  • @dennisonicc Its very hard to get a decent level when everyone has different speakers. My newer videos should have a decent sound level and many of my older ones where recorded at night, so I had to be quiet to not wake my room mate.

  • I cannot hear anything

  • python is really great for working with data and what not, java is better for actually creating something. python is easier, but if you dont mind working hard to learn a more difficult language, java might be better. i would recommend however, that you choose between C++ and Python or even D and Python. there are plenty of great alternatives to java if you dont choose python. please don't learn java. it needs to die already

  • i wish i looked like an goriilla!!1

  • Python is easier (for the most part),

but Java is more widely used.

Depends on how much you're up to the task, i guess.

  • prolog! ;)

  • My favourite thing about python is the syntax is very clean and concise. This makes it more convenient when you're trying to learn fairly abstract things (like ADT's). I think it would be a good idea to start with Python; and with Python you could learn all the abstract concepts that are common when programming with any language.

  • Python... Python... Python....

  • WTF...IS IT ME OR DOES THIS GUY LOOK LIKE AN APE....I mean wtf is going on, im not drunk, high, or on anything...am i seeing this lol..

  • @fthis12345 LMAO... man dam-it ...i'm trying to get some info on python but i can't get jack off this vid because i'm laughing to hard at this comment!! LOL

  • Don't start with a language you don't like just because someone tells you it's easier to start with. Do what you like. If you want to program in C++ then go pick up a book. If It's Java, then do Java. Don't go to try and learn a different programming language because you think it'll make it easier for you. That's my opinion anyway. I started learning with Actionscript 3.0 and I can compare it to so many languages. It was hard for me because I was a beginner but I was really motivated.

  • Ruby is better

  • For God Shakes you are really look like a Gorrilaa lol!

  • LOL was thinking the same thing..then saw ur comment..lol.....it was funny

  • Sounds like you have no charactor which is worse than a guy with an ordinary look, by the way this video is for people who want to learn NOT loser who have no life but judging people based on thier looks.

  • there is also a python version that unites python with Java called Jython. Its basically python but with the abilities to call all java libraries and use any java code as well python code. It also supports some of the python libraries but not all of them.

google "jython" for more info , its a perfect compromise for those that love both java and python.

  • Hey just wanted to let you know that there's another program much like Greenfoot. It's called Alice and works much the same but is based in 3d rather than 2d.

  • Start with Python like me,is easy and powerful and you can make all do you want, java is good but is difficult

    Peace

  • Can you tell me what object oriented programming is?

  • Object Orientated programming is way to organize your code and dat , in groups and subgroups (Called objects). Those groups can copy each other partly or in the whole.

It all about keeping code and data organized and reusing code and much more.

  • bro i am 17 years old, and i am gettign trained in university for computer programming, but i keep gettign the feeling that i am really week in programming and it makes me sad, cuz i really love programming. I am doigna graphic calculator but i am stuck at calculations, but my prof told me he will help on Monday, am so sad i got stuck and i feel i wotn succeed in programming :S

  • man if you start with this attitude you will fail your whole life :) programming it`s a hard thing especially when you are learning more than 1 codding language ....you need to be very optimist and work alot ( stop playn` wow and lineage 12 from 24 ...:)) just kidding) . Dont worry you will succeed !

  • chee thanks man actually made me feel good, btw.. i just finished Calculator using Eclipse (java), OOP

  • @danny3man

keep in mind that very few people who are good in programming are also good teachers, you need to move step by step, keep in mind to advance every time and soon you will reallize how everything falls in place and what was really hard is having the doubt, programming is not hard, learning it the right way

  • Learn Ruby.

In my opinion there's nothing special about python at all, it's just an ordinary language.

Ruby on the other hand has all sorts of neat tricks up its sleeve.

  • Java

  • Java is more powerful.

  • java ffs

  • Yep python is great and easy to lern.

    nice vid

  • XD lol

  • im learning python. i say u should learn python before java

  • I'm really glad you made this video. Right now I'm just scratching the surface of PHP and it's my first language of any sort, so I'm not at that fork in the road - but if I find myself between Java and Python this will help.

  • Gorilla :\

  • java in college? i did computer science 1 & 2 in high school with java. currently taking computer science 1 in college with cpp :)

  • thanks I clear my monitor

  • Can you make your videos a bit louder? I only have internal speakers on my laptop that are not very loud. Keep up the good work.

  • I'm currently going to college and we are using java from scratch. Its been hell but I consider it a nice language.

  • man your vid's are really cool, keep it up!!!

  • I'm learning Java and it's really hard but i love the language and i like to give more time learning java, i hope to learn python as well.....

  • hmm, in my thoughts, i would start out with batch files, just to get an understanding of code, then move on to vb2008, then once you are intermediate at that, start java. i have really never liked python whatsoever..

  • I'm more into python, The interpreter is really cool for testing bits of code, you can actually start to use powerful framework django without any python knowledge, and if you want to go further, you can use google app. Also, I have to admit, it is very pleasurable to code in python.

Still, I consider, if someone starts IT, he should start with lower level language than java or python. Something such as C where you have more contact with memory and data structure.

  • Jave Mate

  • And yeah.. Java it is!

  • Man im barely hear you :)

  • I love you Joey.

P.s. your sound is not working.
