There's a very cool iPhone app called Satellite Augmented Reality. It has a database of over 370 geo sats and lets you view where they are in the sky. It also calculates the azimuth and elevation angles for you based on your location. In addition, it lets you enter a virtual location in order to see what the satellite view would be in, say China, if you are in the US.
Wondering if you have any tips on the new Direct TV Slim Line SWM (single wire multi-switch)? I would like to do an install myself but not sure if its going to be too difficult or need a meter. Thanks
when is for sat 119 & 110 you need to point south west. always pick from 119 on transponder 14,15,16,21. Depending on your location settings and transponder will be different. For 1000.4 also know as Easter Arc setting in Houston,Texas is SKEw: 56 . ELevation : 47. Pick from 61.5 look for transponder 29.. minimun RQ are 25% signal strench.
For Dish 500.. minimun RQ in Houston Texas should be sat 119* tr 16 = 68% to 70%. Remember the Higher the better.
ya thanks. i was injured on the job and they started doing those 1000.4 dished after. but if you are on the 119 sat you can point any dish. and your right about signal streangth the higher the better. and its different in all locations on where you point but thanks for the input i am sure it will help anybody needing help. its sad how many people that needed help to peak there dish. but if you tighten all the bolts you shouldnt have any problems. do you work for dish or a sub contractor?
i never have installed direct dish but i know they point at the same sat. so i am glad it helped you. i have done thousands of trouble calls from people who just cant or want to point there dish,
that zip code you called out is in Oregon. R' you an installer in Oregon?
