Mine was fixed under warranty as it happened with 12,000kms after less than a year of ownership. Not sure how much it would be from your part of the world, but I'd imagine in Canada the bill would have been close to $3000 or $4000. I think there was close to 16 hours of labour involved too.
I'd STRONGLY suggest fighting this with Subaru. This was a manufacturing issue and they should fix it for you even if you are a bit past warranty,
Hi, I had the same problem last weekend, 10/April/11 and the WRX waranty in Brazil is 2 years and ended on March/11. 23.900 Km, revised in a Subaru dealer with 21.000Km 2 months ago. How much is to fix it ?
Yeah, it was the rod knock issue. Dealership replaced the engine. I've been running on the new motor for 12,000kms now with no issues (keeping my fingers crossed)....
Hi, Did you find out what was going on, ive just started having the same problem brought it in and im being told i need whole new engine!! only have it 7months, im like a bull!!!
Im not trying to jinx myself or anything but i have an 09 WRX and i havent had any difficulties with it and i have over 30000 miles on it aleady...Hopefully he stays perfect
i live in saudia arabia and i have a 2008 wrx its doing now 12000km and its fine no strange sounds oures subarus imported from japan but now im scared from this and our dealer is fucked up but i didnt hear any 1 here complaining from anything i hope they fixe ur wrx
As far as I know it affected american models as well. I've seen other youtube videos with the same issue from the U.S.... My WRX has been running OK since the new motor. I've put 10k (6,000 miles) on it since the engine replacement and haven't had any issues...
I'm in toronto, so I have the canadian version of the WRX = "WRX265". Although I'm pretty sure that with the exception of the speedo being in kilometers it's identical to the american version...
LMAO!!! Its 1986 all over again. Well to the hard ass street fightin turbo owners out there. . . . Sell drugs and join a gang then rob to buy that new motor!! oil is sludgeing up in the oil line to the turbo. "line blockage" Should of learned from the X/T or the GL's from the 80's. Buy the dam 2.5! I pull 125 mph just fine and is 10 grand cheaper! Hollywood for yea!
Is this even in America? Why is everyone quoting kilometers instead of miles? Every time I see a video, you see them give you kilometers and the speedometer is showing km/h as primary and mph as secondary (smaller numbers). Has anyone caught onto this?
wat is the point of buying 09 wrx? this happen to 75 ppl so far(same exact engine failure)!! and one person out of 75.. he/she got a replacement and replaced engine fail after 5k miles... wtf?! i wanted to buy 09 by this winter... but im scared now. im not a risking type of person...
seems to be happening to the american spec/built ones only. australian WRXs are all made in Japan. there isnt one known issue like this yet anywhere in Australia
sounds like a boxer to me
