The Roxy show was a trip because my tape was confiscated and I had to buy it back for $50. So glad I did because even though it isn't A+ quality, it captured a very rare momen in time.

I think its cool how, after doing this(and dont critisize me if my timing is off), and the blend with tony forking crimson, you notice alot of King Crimson elements in DT's Falling into infinity. but then again, that might have been somthing that Derek Sherani brought to the band.

after 3:20 somthing he messes up the wahwah BIG TIME, making the next few bars completely out of sync.
he does deserve som praise for improvising pretty much everything though, that's something i'd want more from in petrucci.

dont forget petrucci amazing guitar playing in this song. Jordan Rudess is also spectacular. LTE is one of the few packages that can make this combination work.

i think the audio on this recording doesn't pick up Portnoy as well as the other band members. he's good if you listen to the studio version.

Actually, he really isn't. really. He's really mediocre as far as pro players go. Try John blackwell, Jojo Mayer, Jimmy Chamberlin. Portnoy is just kinda.... Meh.

People use dreamtheater as their flagship band, they act all pompous like they know what they're talking about just cuz they know the names Portnoy and Petruci. fact of the matter is, I can easily think of at least 100 drummers I'd put before him. And thats just because thats probably waht I could remember off the top of my head.

well neither are them are in any good bands, they are just the show off drummers who do clinics, kinda of like what satriani and vai are. There damn brilliant just not in good bands, portnoy may not have the speed and coordination as those guys, but hes fucken good, hes techincal, pretty quick, extremly coordinated, and can contribute and make 20 minute songs. you dont need to be jo jo mayer good to be pro

Hahaha. that right, act all smart. you play right into my point. DT fans use them as their "look how much I know about music" band. They act all arrogant when what they are listening to is quite simply hair metal at 200BPM. I don't care if you think i'm narcissistic. The fact is this is a band of chop nazis that only take music backwards. Quite frankly, You smack of being a little full of yourself as well.

You obviously havent listened to any DT. They only have couple of pointless chopfest songs.. but they have dozens of songs that are beautiful, they have great lyrics and their slower songs really kick ass. but anyway.. it´s your problem if you don´t like them.
