  • checkout this ebay name they have nice items for sale. the name is blckhwk83.

  • just wondering not saying anything bad about ANY of the motors but why did they chose the 2.0 for the turbocharged cobalt?? why not the 2.2 or the 2.4?

    thanx!

  • @darthjerky The 2.0 block is stronger from what I've read. People have converted the 2.0 to a 2.2 though.

  • rx-8 is a great car... really. amazing car, except the looks. but againts the TC cobbalt, unfortunatly, there is no match for it rx8. maybe the mazdaspeed3 would be able to take the SS/TC, but since the SS has nurburing tuned suspension, the SS will pass him on the turns

  • does anyone know how much horses or torque a stock cobalt tc clutch can handle?

  • @ssTOBEssCOBALTss stuff like clutches are rated for torque... power is irelevant...same for gearboxes and beyond...

  • @ssTOBEssCOBALTss from what ive heard a stock clutch can withstand anywhere from 400-475hp and same with tq

  • he sucks

  • my buddy has one they are nice, but only have to say one thing and don't mean to sound like an ass but why the ugly LT wing?

  • @KingofStage1 thats the ''new'' SS wing. it comes off the SS and then its put on the LT as an up-grade.

  • @darthjerky totally agree haha i have seen so many of those where i live...I have a SS/TC

  • @KingofStage1 You ever looked out the back window of a Balt with the highrise? Nearly impossible. Bad for track racing and worse for interstate traffic. I had the lowrise on my turbo.

  • @americansmark

I have the lowrise as well. Besides visibility it also makes the car stand out less :). Only downside is that the highwing does give more downforce at higher speeds.

  • @chris13426 Yea. I get that. I do mostly autoX with my new car, so I went completely wingless. Its attracts MUCH less attention and there isn't enough of a difference to care at highways speeds.

  • @Dettengines Evo X is not by far the quickest. do your research man. Evo IX and VIII are the only one who beat the cobalt ss with a 2.0 turbo. cobalt ss is quick

  • racepark's road course is a joke and is dangerous bc if you screw up your in the wall. never going there again.

  • WOW THAT ENGINE BAY LOOKS LIKE SOME 1 JUST TOSSED SHIT INSIDE

  • Gotta say, For the price of a Car with a turbocharged engine, and the sleek design like the cobalt, It's Got to be hard to find something like this for around $12,000. Have a good time. Chevy will always be a dependable Manufacture. Peace, Love my 2010 Cobalt.

  • since when is chevy an import. And take some driving lessons.

  • omg Double Intakes!! what does that mean?? wow Double doors! double SS omg thats like quad SS wow thats so intense

  • I have the same O2 sensor connector on my G6 family car - it looks terribly out of place.

  • That's not a road course, that's Englishtown's overgrown autocross course!

  • nice whip.....you tuned?

  • I don't blame him for missing the apexs, this car torque stears like crazy being front wheel drive. Infact, thats the only thing I don't like about mine.

  • he cant drive!!!

  • and im sure youre so much better

  • Damn, it must be hard as hell putting the charge piping on the turbo :-\

  • proud owner of a ss 06 but I have to admit this has been my favorite cobalt so far.....

  • how much does it cost to run a car on the track at race way ?

  • i thought raceway park was only 1/4 mile i might have to hit this up with my ss/tc

  • all the haters can keep on hatin, you know your only hatin when your losin... I love this car I drive an ss myself with about 400 hp..

great vid car has a lot more potential than what its givin here just needs to be drivin better

  • what mods you puttin out?

  • 400 BHP maybe, but I highly doubt you pushing 400 wheel without any less then 7000 in the car.

  • @ZachEffinIrick there is a 4k bolt on turbo kit that hit 390whp with stock intake box, stock catback, stock motor, stock trans......

  • Source?

  • so far for that price range you can either go with the synapse kit (380whp 370wtq the car sounds amazing, they have a video for it on there website) or the kit that zzp is making right now (sidenote the zzp kit is already on a cobalt...... the cobalt ran 11.43@126mph....) you could always go with hahn to hit 400whp but hahn is a little pricey i think 5000-6000 but that is everything you would possibly need, and they work with you on prices for instal to be cheaper....

  • @widowedeight there is no hahn kit yet, and this is 8 months later. lol zzp kit can net u north of 500whp

  • @tomjw7 well hahn has sold the parts, but your right it isn't a "KIT" if you call them they can give you a price, and where is the link to the zzp kit :) i haven't been on the forums in a long time, i'm assuming all you need for the motor is pistons?

  • @widowedeight actually i talked to hahn, their kits are in beta testing, there are 3, and they told me i will be surprised at how cheap they are. there is k04 upgrade, 20g kit and gt30-35 kit, and they told me the kits take into account that guys have aftermarket charge pipe and downpipe and intakes, so it will be much cheaper than the other kits that come with those things. and zzp kit made over 500whp on stock pistons, and rods, bent rods at 550whp. but to be on safe side, 400-450whp on stock.

  • @widowedeight zzp has their kit for sale on zzp website.

  • @tomjw7 yeah that is what the told me ( the suprisingly cheapness of them) and i was talking about more than 500whp on a mustang dyno, the dyno your talking about was a dynojet (if you look on there website they even say that dynojets read higher than their personnal mustang dyno

  • @widowedeight well i bought a talon upgrade kit once from them manifold, oil and water lines, big 16g turbo, gaskits and so forth for 800 bucks, so fingers crossed. lol

  • nice car buddy, my buddy has one except it is a 2005 so it has the supercharger in it in stead of the turbo

  • weak..

  • well never the less, the 08 cobalt ss turbo charged broke and set the new track record. bet if the cobalt had slicks it would beat out that car so it doesnt really even matter

  • Mostly all cobalt ss's are supercharged. They made a good number of turbocharged ones however. Turbos are better IMO.

  • the 08 ss are turbo they dont do super charged ones anymore

  • actually they're not. They were supercharged from 05 to 07 with factory rated 205hp (more like 230hp actually), then they switched it to a turbo for the 08 to present year model which boosted power to 260hp and 260torque. They also revised the steering knuckles, added a LSD, new wheels, revised suspension setup, and stickier tires for 08+.

  • nothing special...

  • yeah, but u gotta admit, Cobalt SS turbo's are really quick, even the Supercharged one's pull pretty hard.

  • umm no, they're not. the car is a piece of shit.

  • You would know from you're extensive knowledge about the car. Do us a favor and STFU.

  • fastest car (stock) under 25 k bud

  • lol, Rotary? Really? Come back here when you find an RX7 that doesn't need a rebuild after 50k.

  • there is plenty..look it up.

and not the dumbass white trash that builds them in their parents shed, real rotary heads.

  • I'll take my piston engine that actually has power below 6000 RPM, and doesn't need to be built up to last more then 50,000 without losing all its power, or blowing an apex seal.

  • ah throwing useless fake info at a rotor lover..apex seals last over 100k on average driver even more basic tuning decent boost running 300ish hp on a turbo 2 can last 70-100k with regular seal, but there are better ones, like from racing beat or the super seals from re amemiya that can last longer, yea we rebuild more often but its apart of tuning i dont mind it at all. you enjoy your piston engine and i like my rotor..i have no problems with anyones personal preference and neither should you.

  • Don't come back here then .........

Line up a new RX-8 against the SS piece of garbage lol........ Poor RX-8 gets smoked .

  • yea ok..

  • @rukkee22 how about you line up a 4g63t up against a ss then see who gets smoked....

  • @Dettengines

LOL Really????? ..... we could play the "one up " game all day long .

My response was directed at an RX-8 fanyboy who was calling the SS a piece of trash....

thats the only reason I said the RX-8 gets beat..... in most performance testing compared to the SS . There is always something better and faster .... It's all about money

  • @rukkee22 i wasn't really trying to one up you but giving a fair comparison between two forced induction 2.0l 4 cylinder engine. rather than a 2.0l turbo and 1.3l NA. while money is a large factor, engineering is also. there a many better 4 cylinder engines than a ecotech...quite a few actually. and the rotary is very well designed also. 228hp out of 1.3l naturally aspirated compared to a 2.0l turbo with 260 hp....i'd take the rotary any day.

  • @Dettengines 4g63t GOT smoked by the SS!

  • @gmracing15 your telling me a stock evo with 280hp and weighing just under 3000 pounds for the base model (with horse power increasing with different models) got smoke by a cobalt that has 260hp and weighs exactly 3000 pounds. physics tells me you are lying. thanks for playing though.

  • @Dettengines I know it's hard to believe but the SS was time attacked on laguna seca and posted (identical time to evo 8) and faster than the evo 10 and new sti. One more thing I do not bullshit! (don't forget SS's power output are underrated and 4WD has a greater drive line drag than 2wd)

  • @gmracing15 i honestly dont believe the evo x part. that is by far the quickest and best handling evo out to date. '10 sti i can believe that thing is a pig. also awd in turns will always be better than fwd, period. now in a straight line the drag on a awd will make a difference. can you post a link to the stats/data? id like to take a look at them.

  • @rukkee22 In what world could a front wheel drive cobalt ss beat an rx8?

  • @loganBentley

What world do you want me to start in ?

In Car and Drivers lightning lap

    2008 Cobalt SS : 3:13

    2010 Rx-8 with R3 package 3:16.7

Then there are quarter mile numbers but those also go in favor of the SS

  • @loganBentley rx8's are shit. /discussion

  • @loganBentley in todays world, at anytime pal

  • @rukkee22 Anyone with an RX8 should shut their face when it comes to talking trash against the turbo balt.

  • thats a nice ride!

  • lol slow balts? please. just FYI a COBALT SS set the new track record at the nuremberg. suck on that.

  • well the renault megane r26 r (with slicks) is actually the fastest round the ring. the nurburgring is the track, nuremberg is the place

  • with slicks...that means not completely stock. The cobalt SS turbo was totaly stock when it made the run with only summer performance tires.

  • They changed it back a forth for a while, I'm not sure what it is now. But I know it makes 260 HP stock.

  • yea the newer ones are turbo now.. the past few years of them are supercharged, so you are technically right.. I dunno why they have turbos now. they are still SLOW-balts.

  • soooo 5.4secs to 60 in a FWD coupe that holds the fastest lap record for FWD sports coupes is slow? I think not...lol

  • that record got broken watch top gear bu a ranald or w.e the fuck they are called

  • epic spelling RENAULT

  • that was the 2007 cobalt

  • Because the new ones come factory turbo'd

  • Are you really that retarded? he took the supercharger off because every 1 knows turbos are better than supers

  • yeah turbos are better. duh everyone knoos that. but it I asked why is it called SS when its turbo. I didnt know that they started changing SS into turbos. plus US cars suck anyways. I would rather drive an import any day that a muscle car.

  • are u really that stupid? lol

if you actually watch the video, the valve cover says "Ecotec TURBO".....meaning that it came with a turbo from the factory.

And as far as turbos being better than superchargers.....no. Its all in your setup and what ur using it for. If u have something setup for drag racing where ur always in the high rpms, then yes a turbo is better. But if ur doing short circuits with lots of turns, supercharger is the way to go with instant low end boost, no lag.

  • no the 2008 and ablove i believe are now turbo charged with 260hp

  • nope the cobalts are turboed now

  • umm are you dumb who said it was stock

  • wrong IU never said it was stock. the name of the video it self says "modified". I asked why id it turbo charged when the traditional SS vehicles had a super charger.

  • Comment removed

  • only 05-07 models were supercharged(205hp, 210torque). in 08 they switched to the turbo(260hp, 260torque).

  • SS stands for Super Sport. Nothing to do with forced induction really

  • yeah, but its part of the ss package. no real ss cars anymore....

  • actually, the only cars from Chevy that have SS are actually SS cars now. They stopped that SS badging on non-performance oriented vehicles back in '07 or '08. For instance, it takes the cobalt LS coupe like 9.1 seconds to get to 60mph and the the SS turbo takes 5.4 secs....definitely SS lol

  • Those look ugly, unless they got that big spoiler in the back

but still, good car i like it

  • I know right they are gay, what was that, crusing around the track. that wasn't driving. and whose the drivers? they past the driver test last week or what?.

  • these cars are gay... extremely cheap looking inside and out. and besides, who wants a car that took both bail outs and then moved out of the states. i say screw chevy and chrysler. id say ford to but at least they paid theirs back and didnt take the sec. (im not a ford fan either)

  • Totally agreed.

  • and they would definitly say screw u too. Everyone claims that these cars are gay, yet very few have ever driven or riden in one to actually know what they are talkin about, they say they are slow, but yet they have been destroying mustang gt's, SRT-4's, RX8's, 350z's, etc. They are made to be cheap, fast cars that are cheap to upgrade (ZZP and Synapse make a big turbo kit and a twin charged kit for it. Turbo=383whp, 373wtq and twin kit=440whp, 295wtq less than 3 grand). 5.4secs stock aint slow
