Well you can't teach the entire NT in 10 minutes! :) I find this to be very complete and logical. It really helps make sense out of some difficult NT passages. But, if you are under the influence of modern Christian thought, which is highly influenced by a future return of Jesus Christ, it will take a shift in your thinking. Challenge yourself. Take a new look at the bible without preconceived notions. You will find a gold mine.
Luke 17:22 also says "The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it."
This verse in combination with Luke 8:18 pretty much explains that He will come again after the life span of His disciples back then. Luke 8:18 "I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"
This teaching is not incorrect, but very incomplete!
Can you tell me if there is a different understanding of generation then what you assume it to be?
What is the etymology of the term generation.?
Why do you assume it to mean 40 yrs?
Scripture tells us a day to us is like a 1,000 yrs to God.
There are three generations.
From Adam to Jacob (birth of Israel) 2,000 yrs.
From the birth of the nation of Israel to Christ another generation of 2,000 yrs.
From Christ and the birth of the church to 2nd coming another generation of 2,000 yrs.
