  • i hate these stupid things, all they do is swim, eat, and make babies and what do they eat? game fish, lots of em to, my dad and i are commercial spearfishermen, if even just one of these gets on a spot they rape the land of everything. to all of you who say"o h i hope we keep this resource" think about the people who literally lose their way of life from these things

  • i dive the florida keys every year and yes they are becoming common again. this is a very rare sight here. they dont impact the other fish species like popular belief. everyone should do some research before seeing one video and thinking they must be taking over. and on spearfishing, there is nothing wrong with going and getting your limit on fish once in a while. as long as your not breaking the law everyone has a right to partake of this food source.

  • thats awesome

  • this is crazy. Thanks for sharing

  • eliwoohoo i think your retarted dont matter how many are mating, theres already too many

  • @6michaelpalmer9 too many? fuck off.

  • are these fish edible?

  • when tha hell are the damn things goin in harvest.... theyre OBVIOSLY not endangered

  • Comment removed

  • @6michaelpalmer9 "Obviously not endangered," because you see a video of ONE breeding aggregation right? Are you mentally retarded?

  • you see something pretty to look i see a fish fry waiting to happen

  • Its like a shit load of magicarp.

  • GET THE NET!

  • @INOAHBRADY There is nothing wrong with SCUBA, it;'s just as much fun as freediving. I do both and sometimes I prefer staying down with a tank, instead of going up and down and having to rest

  • be glad they arnt in pissy moods.

  • @INOAHBRADY

Funny. That was 140ft. I can only hang around a little at 70ft.

  • Why are people overreacting about the speargun? These groupers will be legal to shoot soon. Trust me.

  • haha, I was like, aww little groupers.. untill I saw that diver @ 0:09 and was like... wait.. o_0

  • thats so amazing. love the quality and the shot.

    thank you.

  • Thats flat out amazing, never seen anything like that in my life.

  • Damn, so tasty.

  • with the jewfish stocks in such high numbers i dont understand why they wont open a season on them

  • POWERHEAD

  • time to start harvesting them bitch's been to long.......you cant even go fishing in tampa bay without hooking them all day long so yea open them back up.......lets eat

  • An absolutely phenomenal moment underwater. Hope someday I can see this in-person. This is a mating congregation, not a normal moment on a reef. If these fish were opened up to hunting or fishing again, congregations like this would serve as easy pickens.

  • Open themup ???, so they are illegal to catch? If so can any anyone tell me why.

They are impressive buggers, i saw Jewfish, is that a slang thing ?

  • i would drown a basket of kittens for 1 of these in a tank...

  • @iwimp1994 hahaha dude you are strange but that was flipping hilarious

    !!!!

  • They need to open these up again..

  • nahh give em some more time if they do theyll just be overran agian :/ besides arent they slow reproducers anyways?

  • that would be some damn good fishin. to bad its illegal to keep them.

  • must be a bitch if you are fishing n they happen to smash the shit out of ur baits non stop

  • wher is this

  • omg.

It's forbiden to take one fo those home???

    dead of course!

  • amazing video. Hopefully we take care of these giant fish for generations to come.

  • I shot this a year ago. The Goliaths are starting to group up again. Hope to get even better video in the next few weeks.

  • @BillfromJupiter2 harpoon :D

  • goliath grouper are a real problem around boynton beach florida.

there protected so all they do is eat and make more grouper

  • and they say there endangered

  • cool video. I've never seen so many at once! I dunno about trying to shoot anything around those things, they'll eat your fish right off your spear. ha.

happened to me and one of my dive buddy's,luckily we got it on video, check it out.

    keep the videos coming

  • what an amazing site! I Dive with my local giant Queensland groper nearly every day, but to see this quantity of gloiaths would be spectacular! nice to see them protected!

  • This looks like a breeding colony. And you're spear fishing? Ever heard of the Physteria bacteria that's present in large groupers? I wouldn't be eating those if I were you...

  • This is an annual breeding aggregation off Jupiter, FL. >80 BIG goliaths at 120ft. Don't see that many places.

Spearfishing? Goliaths are protected. Randy Jordan was carrying a spear gun in the video but he would never shoot one. I think you can find a video of him pulling a spear from a Goliath a few years ago when we had some idiot shooting them.

I has been a popular video with interesting comments.

    Bill

  • Glad to hear it Bill. I'm a diver too, and I cringe when I see spearguns in vids. I just got back from the Keys, and everything disappears when divers show up. Sad. In my S. Pacific vids, you'll see curious fish, not scared ones.

  • I work as a scub guide, and I also spearfish (APNEA) for pelagic species mainly. It's a shame that uneducated and reckless spearfisherman in the past gave such a bad name for the activity as it has the potential to be the most environmentally friendly form of meat aquisition. The target can be selected (size and species) with no bycatch... sure beats land clearing for beef or trawling. I don't eat red meat, only fish I catch and in this way it could be seen as 'green'... just need education

  • @brenkeller you cant kill goilath groupers. no spearfishing or catching and keeping them with poles

  • I wonder if these magnificent groupers (and, indeed, for that matter, the entire non-human inhabitants of this planet) perceive humans as being a pest as much as some humans seem inclined to regard the groupers such... it is amazing to think that sights as tremendous as this are still with us this first decade into the 21st century. May it continue to be protected! Thanks for posting this great video.

  • Beautiful sight. Hopefully common sense will prevail and laws will continue to protect them from the virtual extinction nearly caused by overfishing.

  • and they still won't open a season on these things...... they're becoming pests

  • never saw something like that,

    impressive

  • how deep is that an what is the average weigth of those grouper
