There are granite blocks which make up the ceiling of the "King's Chamber" (about halfway up) which weigh in excess of 70 tonnes. You can assume that mortar was "hauled up the sides" of these once remarkably accurate pieces of architecture, but I put this reasoning down to pretty much complete lack of knowledge about the structures.

That's some great info you posted. I think the key wording is when he stated, "lift and Put them Into POSITION" refering to the stones being placed in their proper resting place.

Just because we have a few land based cranes that can lift these stones doesn't mean it has the ability to reach and place the stone in it's proper place since the area of the pyramid is pretty large.

Again, i'm just guessing here that is why he mentioned only TWO cranes have the ability.

Even counting helicopters, some of the heaviest stones within the great pyramid can weigh between 50-80 tons such as the stones used to roof and support the king's chamber area.

So, perhaps that's why he doesn't even mention helicopters since on 6 August 1969, the V-12 lifted 44,205 kg (88,636 lb) to a height of 2,255m (7,398 feet), a world record. But, that's only what, 44 tons or so.

And the supporting stones you speak of (50-80 ton range) could have been placed with some difficulty by using some math, creative pre-construction for placement, and using the six simple machines which the Egyptians clearly knew about some them.

Yes! I'm quite aware that ancient Egypt didn't have heli tech nor adv crane systems. There is evidence that they understood the basic wheel, pulley, wedge (ramp) and the fulcrum (lever). They also understood the uses for sand, as most exp'd masons do past or present. The right kind of sand when properly packed can support huge amounts of weight easily. Maybe 80 ton stones where lowered down from half finished pyramid via use a sand elevator. Would explain all the extra shafts (aka airshafts).

Jenny, There are many challenges in construction even in modern times. Interestingly, many building methods we use today have very ancient origins going back thousands of years. The Pyramids we do know have a foundation placed on actual sandstone bedrock (makes a kind of basement). So no sinking, sorry. The cardinal directions east, west, etc by using plumbs for leveling and sticks for line of sight, can line up anything via the rising/setting sun.

Well, there won't be too much settling for the pyramids that are located on the Giza Plateau as they are literally tied into the bedrock. Unfortunately not all of Egyptian tombs were so lucky. Jenny, As far as I know there really isn't too many ways to predict settling buildings but there there are ways to repair and ways to strengthen against it. The reproduced stone dimensions are possible but just tedious and labor intensive to do. A metal blade, some sand, some water, time, and alot of elbow grease and you too can cut stone just like the ancients. Also, the pyramid is the most stable shape for structures. Very difficult to topple over.

Also, rope existed during those times because we know that they had basic rigging for their boats. They used flax, papyrus (such a handy little plant), leather, animal hair and many other materials. Cardinal directiosn can be found by watching the sun, exactly by lining up sticks during the early morning hours. I'm no geologists but I do know that many types of stone have properties that naturally cut very cleanly for precision.

Why is area such a factor? or placing such a stone seem so magical to you? In modern construction, it seems less cost effective and probably ridiculous to use materials in such a size when you can use smaller, lighter, more durable product to build with. So no need for super sized cranes. Ask any experiened engineer, it can be done. Placement of the stones is no factor, you do it in sections. Crane systems can be placed in key areas and moved as things progress. Its modern constuct 101

Even if he's off by a couple cranes, his main point is that our "modern" technology would still have a very difficult time if possible to recreate such a monument. But yet this ancient culture with primitive methods and tools were able to. It's also hard to explain how they knew the exact center of all the earth's land mass and true north, south, etc.

Science and Philosophy have long known that there are things that elude the mortal senses. Much of which can be detected by scientific method, instrumentation, mathematics, or flat out theory. Cayce was supposedly struck with severe laryngitis and cured by an entertainer by the name of "Hart the Laugh king". Suddenly, Cayce is cured and has magical powers to see things while he is a sleep. My information is based on actual historical references as I Am a Historian By Trade. These people you talk about shiow up often on Art Bell, tabloids, and pseudo-science shows. Jenny, many of those from anthropology to mechanical engineering have all come up with their own version to explaining how the pyramids were built. It is safe to assume that humans can do this feat because the evidence stands before us. The problem is, there are many possible solutions on how this was done. There are no detailed records about this from ancient times because it was considered sacred knowledge, reserved for the privelaged, the deities, and deitfied.

The Mayan Astronomers had the most accurate of all the calenders. The Egyptian mummies were discovered to have cocain in their tissues which had to come from their blood stream. The Mayan's also learned to build pyramids and had knowledge of mummyfication. The cocain plant was not know in Egypt post the Pyramid age.
