i prefer the xbox 360 over the ps3 because of the larger online community and the fact that xbox has more experience with online multiplayer. some people complain about red rings of death and paying for multiplayer but i have had only 1 red ring in 3-4 years and it was fixed for free in a week.

i would say ps3 if you dont want to pay for extra stuff and dont mind the quality of the online play, xbox 360 if you want a better online play and you have a bit of extra paper. its only 40 $ a year.
