i totally agree with her on this. i dont let internet people dictate what shows i see. i see what i want (and what i have $ for) i find what i like and spread the word, literally i speak to people about the show.
I don't agree with her comments about the internet being the death of musical theatre. Was she condemning places like YouTube for having videos up? If it hadn't been for those, I'd never have even heard of Wicked, and now I've seen it twice. Also, I don't have the money to see the shows on Broadway - I live 2000 miles away. What am I supposed to do? She doesn't propose any good solutions to people who don't actually live in NY or NJ.
Good points. I think the problem with avid Broadway goers is that many of them live a reasonable distance from NYC. Their own little world only spans 10 blocks or so, and they fail to realize that there is actually a world outside of the theatre district.
I too am broke and only see shows when my parents pay for them, which is about once a year. So I totally feel your pain.
Aw, I'm sorry. :( I totally love this video because I hate it when people criticize and insult shows/musicals/actresses on the internet when they've never even seen them live! And usually, when those people actually go to see the show that they said they hated, they end up loving it! Stop insulting amazing actresses on the internet, people! Especially women who have played a role in Wicked!
Wicked is the only major musical that celebrates women: their friendships, relationships, and their overall lives. So it truly has changed anyone whos been in the show or seen it.(er...I don't think I'm making much sense)
Oh,no! You're making perfect sense! And I totally agree! It probably sounds weird to those who haven't seen it live, but this is one of those rare shows that truly changes the audience. I was absolutely blown away the first time I saw it. The story is amazing, and the strength and personalities of Glinda and Elphaba are just wonderful to watch.
Haha! Yeah, the saddest thing ever is when the curtain closes for the final time, and you're like, "Darn, now I have to go home where there aren't any Glindas or Elphies to sing to me." :( Haha, although, my sister and I often sing the songs together: me as Glinda and my sister as Elphie. :D I love doing Popular. I make my sister laugh every time with my spastic, jumping pirouette "La la"s. :D
I want to go to the Wicked Day celebration thingy this year! From what I've heard/read, they play Wicked music over and over again and everyone's dressed up in Wicked stuff and singing and dancing along. If you're a Wicked fanatic, you might as well find all the other people in your city who are Wicked fanatics too!
WOOHOO! That sounds like fun! :D I rarely meet people in person who are Wicked fans or musical theatre fans! :D Would you dress up as Elphie or Glinda? I think I'd go as Glinda so my sister could go as Elphie. :D
For halloween my friend and I were Elphie and Glinda! I was Elphie and she was Glinda. Our costumes were really good, but I didn't paint my face green for school. And she's short, so we were sort of like Idina and Kristin cuz Kristin is so tiny, and my friend is really little too!
that is why the Pirate Queen got cut from broadway. it was an amazing show, but the critics HATED it so that's why it got cut. and the critics dont know what's good anymore, they dont like good, classic muscials anymore and like things like high school musical *shutters*
just a point, were you wanting to "shutter" or "shudder". the latter is something you do when your mildly disgusted, and the first has something to do with cameras.
@elphaba08457332233 Have you seen the Pirate Queen? Some of the music was amazing, but most of it was pretty bad. The ending was one of the worst I've seen. The only people I've heard talk good about it are Wicked fanatics who were just backing up Stephanie J. Block. And just because the composer and lyricist made Les Miserables, doesn't mean everything they do is good. If critics actually did like The Pirate Queen, then I would say what you said about them. But they didn't.
@STUPIDxxSITE yes, i did see the pirate queen. twice. i personally liked it and yes, i have to agree some of the songs kind of sucked if you actually listened to them. i posted that a while back and have actually gotten smarter when it comes to choosing my music. but i still enjoy some of the songs from the pirate queen and i must agree the ending was out of place...
the death of musical theater?!?!?! noooooo it cant happen!!!! lol and someone WAS diggin brooklyn. ME! well i never saw it but i still love it to pieces. lol and i love julia!

I partially disagree though, had it not been for the internet, I never would have known how awesome she was.

Exactly! I just wasn't sure if people would understand 'cause it was 1am in the morning when I posted that comment.
Who can say if we've been changed for the better but, Wicked has changed us for good!
GreenGrl095 3 years ago
Haha, I sympathize, I'm often on youtube at 1AM. :D Woohoo! I love that quote! And you're an awesome Wicked fan! :D
SunDevilGirl11 3 years ago
Thank you! And thanks for subscribing to my channel/videos/whatever it is people subscribe to.
Who needs drugs? I've got Wicked! Elphaba is my anti-drug.

Yay! :D Julia Murney rocks! Wicked rocks! And Elphaba is just freaking amazing! :D
SunDevilGirl11 3 years ago
And Eden and Idina and Willemijn and Kerry and Caissie and Carmen and Kristy and...all the other Elphabas whose names escape me at this time.
I've already been to the mall. It sucked.
I've already been to heaven. After five minutes I was like 'let's go.'
I've already been to OZ. I wished to remain there for my entire life, but sadly, I had to return to my sorry excuse for a life.
(Hey. I can think of going 'over the rainbow' too ya know.)
