His ground game hasn't been seen at all, and I think Silva could dominate Le on the ground...but striking? not so much.
cung le is much shorter and gives up alot of reach to Anderson on the feet, he is only 5'10(1.78cm) when Anderson is 6'2 (1.88cm) and Silva competed in world class muay thai tournaments and has 10 times as many fights as cung and even has a boxing record, while holding a first degree black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu. On the feet, I think Silva would murder with his clinch, and cung only does take downs and throws, but he said himself he lacks submissions, Anderson definitely doesnt, no brainer

I know what k1 is, and san shou is not muay thai, or MMA, because I fight ameatuer MMA. I am a fan of his striking, but at a certain point you dont bite off more than you can chew, and Im sure people agree anderson is too much for him in MMA, it would be a better matchup if they fought kickboxing, but still silva's legs are longer and he has more fights, and im not a nuthugger man. I always like to see fighters challenge themselves. This fight makes sense for Cung Le. He is at his peak. He's carving out a legacy in MMA before he becomes a movie star after years of fans disrespecting his San Shou career. Anderson Silva is at the top of Cung's division and #1 p4p. People thought Cung was biting off more than he could chew with Shamrock. He was a 4 to 1 underdog. He proved them wrong. Silva is a whole other beast but Cung has the tools to make this a competitive fight.

Isn't San Shou basically Muay Thai with throws? (I might be ignorant about it, but that's always the way I looked at them.)
Machida is a LHW. Le is a natural MW. Silva is an incredible fighter, no doubt about it. The p4p best even. But Cung is also an excellent fighter. I look at fights from a stylistic standpoint. Cung and Silva match up fairly well. They are both dynamic, technical strikers. Cung has great wrestling while Silva has great Jiu-Jitsu. Both have good chins (neither has ever been KO'd). Because of Cung's takedown defense and Silva's mediocre wrestling I expect this to be a standup war.
As for San Shou it's basically Kung Fu in kickboxing format where you get points for throws. Kickboxers as well as Muay Thai and MMA fighters have participated in San Shou but against Cung they were pretty much lost. Cung's Pro San Shou competition wasn't spectacular but his own skills are. I think his standup style could give Silva a real challenge.

Silva has been one of the top strikers in MMA for a long time. His striking allows him to use his other skills on fighters, Dan Henderson is a good example. If you don't think that one of Silvas Kicks/Knees/Punches/Elbows etc wouldn't be able to knock Le to the ground you're not so smart. Great fight between two great strikers, but even if Silva breaks his arm he still wins in the 2nd round.

By the way, almost every top PRIDE fighter was foreign (Nog, Wandy, Cro Cop, Fedor, Rampage, Shogun and Hendo are not Asian) and ate Japanese guys for breakfast. There are great Asian fighters like Minowa, Saku, Kid and Machida but race is NOT a factor in MMA.

WHY? because most asians for example HRD warriors,etc and other great fighters focus more on manipulations, crankings, fatal points, pressure points, cumilations,etc. that can get them disqualified quickly. MMA and UFC has rules that doesn't allow those techniques. You possibly can't think UFC and MMA only has the best fighters. Just cuz u go to some tournament u think they are best fighters? Gtfo kid.

Ummm, Cung's never been on a PPV..and you've probably never seen him fight either. Cung is seriously one of the best strikers in the world. He hasn't lost in San Shou and he hasn't lost in K-1..which is all striking. He snapped Franks arm in two and KOed a guy with a livershot with his toe. His ground game hasn't been seen at all, and I think Silva could dominate Le on the ground...but striking? not so much.

cung le is much shorter and gives up alot of reach to Anderson on the feet, he is only 5'10(1.78cm) when Anderson is 6'2 (1.88cm) and Silva competed in world class muay thai tournaments and has 10 times as many fights as cung and even has a boxing record, while holding a first degree black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu. On the feet, I think Silva would murder with his clinch, and cung only does take downs and throws, but he said himself he lacks submissions, Anderson definitely doesnt, no brainer

Cung's fought guys in K-1 (kickboxing) and San Shou tournaments taller than him. I'm not saying Cung would beat Silva or anything like that (he would have to beat some UFC MWs before even taking on Silva), but you can't discredit his world class striking, which a lot of nuthuggers are ignorantly doing. Watch something other than his Strikeforce fights. I would honestly rather see Le fight Machida at a catch weight than seeing him fight Silva...much better matchup.

I know what k1 is, and san shou is not muay thai, or MMA, because I fight ameatuer MMA. I am a fan of his striking, but at a certain point you dont bite off more than you can chew, and Im sure people agree anderson is too much for him in MMA, it would be a better matchup if they fought kickboxing, but still silva's legs are longer and he has more fights, and im not a nuthugger man. I agree, him/machida would be much closer, more even but it would go to decision because they both so damn good.

I always like to see fighters challenge themselves. This fight makes sense for Cung Le. He is at his peak. He's carving out a legacy in MMA before he becomes a movie star after years of fans disrespecting his San Shou career. Anderson Silva is at the top of Cung's division and #1 p4p. People thought Cung was biting off more than he could chew with Shamrock. He was a 4 to 1 underdog. He proved them wrong. Silva is a whole other beast but Cung has the tools to make this a competitive fight.

Oh no, I totally agree that Silva would be too much for Le, especially at this point...he's the total package, where Le is great striking with some good throws and a lil wrestling. Yeah, if it were just a standup match, it would be a much better matchup and could even go to a decision, which is why a Le/Machida fight would be so great; I'd pay $50 for that. Isn't San Shou basically Muay Thai with throws? (I might be ignorant about it, but that's always the way I looked at them.)

Machida is a LHW. Le is a natural MW. Silva is an incredible fighter, no doubt about it. The p4p best even. But Cung is also an excellent fighter. I look at fights from a stylistic standpoint. Cung and Silva match up fairly well. They are both dynamic, technical strikers. Cung has great wrestling while Silva has great Jiu-Jitsu. Both have good chins (neither has ever been KO'd). Because of Cung's takedown defense and Silva's mediocre wrestling I expect this to be a standup war.

As for San Shou it's basically Kung Fu in kickboxing format where you get points for throws. Kickboxers as well as Muay Thai and MMA fighters have participated in San Shou but against Cung they were pretty much lost. Cung's Pro San Shou competition wasn't spectacular but his own skills are. I think his standup style could give Silva a real challenge.

Silva has been one of the top strikers in MMA for a long time. His striking allows him to use his other skills on fighters, Dan Henderson is a good example. If you don't think that one of Silvas Kicks/Knees/Punches/Elbows etc wouldn't be able to knock Le to the ground you're not so smart. Great fight between two great strikers, but even if Silva breaks his arm he still wins in the 2nd round.
