"Probably since Bierce isn't funny, at all." Honestly? Between being one of the better satirist in journalism, and the irony commingled with horror he was one of the more humorous figures in literature.
As a true relative of Ambrose I can't thank people enough for at least trying to spread the word about him; This culture tends to forget what it can't understand... The English language has been butchered terribly by the very people who have spread the use of it. I think it's the lack of vocabulary skill & patience that allows people to forget great TRUE Americans like him.
I just read an article written by someone who dislikes my last name because he finds it hard to pronounce....Stupid....
What the hell does any of this have to with Ambrose Bierce? A soldier in a World War II looking uniform, a few captions about Bierce does not make a documentary. Also, if you think Bierce wasn't funny then you didn't read much of his work. He was a social critic that was more well known in his time than his contemporary Mark Twain. His writing was scathing but done with wit and humor. You guys really missed the point, nice effort but you really missed out on a lot about Bierce and his impact.
The assignment was a one paragraph summary of his life. Since there were not cameras in the Civil War, I went for the imagery of the battlefield with the dead soldiers all around instead. His LIFE is what was not funny, I meant. Compared to my other movies, this one isn't meant as a comedy. I appreciate the comment (amazing to find someone who can type complete sentences on youtube...) but there's only so much you can mention in 3 minutes.
Ah OK, perhaps a better explanation in the title might have helped. Also, there are tons if pictures from that era, maybe a montage would be better.I just couldn't believe that someone could read Bierce's work and then think that he wasn't funny. It's really amazing that much of it is still both amusing and topical these days, sadly the same issues abound. Sorry if I was too harsh, again the above reasons are why I was confused about this. Later dude. THE ORIGINAL, ONE AND ONLY, JOE DESTRUCTION!
"Since there were not cameras in the Civil War..." Wrong. There were cameras in the Civil War. The Civil War was the first war that was extensively photographed. Maybe you mean there were no motion picture cameras then. True, but a series of shots of still Civil War photos, especially of the battlerield dead, would have been a lot better than this really lame video.
