He should have stuck with the original outfit. Fresh my ass, that thing was way scarier... a spray-painted Captain Kirk mask with the eye holes cut out of it? Terrifying.

Also, the other things he changed weakened the story. Dr. Loomis worked much better as a sincere, concerned character, not someone who wanted deep-down to sell books. And we never should have seen Michael as a child, and/or heard him speak at any age, it demystified the character too much, making him way less scary.
