Actually, if memory serves me, in the original there was a whole part dedicated to Religion and how the "Jesus theory" was a myth that could be compared to several earlier stories. Yet in this version, religion is barely touched upon and they left out those facts concerning Jesus all together. In the 163 minutes less than 5 minutes were dedicated to Religion or Jesus.

For most people, awakening will entail abandonment of long held beliefs, often to the despair of family members. It's difficult. Almost no one can be dragged into it. I think people need space to awaken or shift. There's likely great guilt and trepidation involved. It's tricky because losing your religion takes place in the context of religion.

I don't think there will ever be a one-stop solution for problems as big as he outlines, and I think he is aware of the fact that it is one small step of many in the right direction. @manycuppps Nah, I disagree. I think it will start with decentralized energy. People will start to generate solar power at home. When people are less dependant on the system they will see things differently. Hey, I can grow my own food with hydroponics. I can free up my time by automating. They will adopt more and more technologies and displace the very corporations that develop those technologies until a resource based society emerges. Something like that is a possibility (in 500 characters).

This man is enlightened. He understands and so succinctly explains our interconnectedness with all things and eachother. I have known and felt this all my life. Dude take a breath. I truly love these types, they love the sound of their own voice. What I espcially enjoyed was how so many of the religous facts in Zeitgeist were proven to be false and some just out and out lies, yet he doesn't address that here. Don't get me wrong, Zeitgeist mad some valid points concerning the fractional reserve system and it did a service to explain it to MANY who have never had even the slightest understanding of who it works. All in all, I am unimpressed with Peter.

Actually, if memory serves me, in the original there was a whole part dedicated to Religion and how the "Jesus theory" was a myth that could be compared to several earlier stories. Yet in this version, religion is barely touched upon and they left out those facts concerning Jesus all together. In the 163 minutes less than 5 minutes were dedicated to Religion or Jesus.

For most people, awakening will entail abandonment of long held beliefs, often to the despair of family members. It's difficult. Almost no one can be dragged into it. I think people need space to awaken or shift. There's likely great guilt and trepidation involved. It's tricky because losing your religion takes place in the context of religion.

@teamsiems I think when he says that essentially the Zeitgeist project is a philosophical offering which he would like other people to pick up on and run with / expand. I don't think there will ever be a one-stop solution for problems as big as he outlines, and I think he is aware of the fact that it is one small step of many in the right direction. Still, props to him for taking that first step and attempting to educate people.

However I would advocate that we move to dismantle institutionalized religion, as it only serves to create profit motivated power structures that politicize and distort core religious values. Jesus would not be down with profit based religion and all the horrible shit done in its name. I'm an atheist but I find an affinity with many of the values that religion advocates. Do unto others etc.

Peoples' perceptions are so capitalistic now. It's amazing how much we become a part of the system. We all have the potential for it but the way our societies are structured pretty much pits us in a very tight corner where we have to be selfish. If people could ever get rid of their individualistic values of freedom and instead think in terms of unifying communities and taking care of one another, life would be very different. Try it sometime.

@wreckless4485 .We would be motivated because we still need food to eat and water to hydrate ourselves, so the basic foundations of life in order to survive will be our continuing motivation to progress. The small inventions of luxury that fascinate us today like technology and everything else could still be achieved once we find motivation to just do it because you we love it.

when we stop focusing on our differences (most of which are created by our societies/religions) we can concentrate on making earth a good place to live for all. tolerance is all we need first.

The gap might be smaller in this utopian society we all want, but not all people are equal. There's always variations among people...and that includes motivation and work ethic. Some people are more motivated and have better work ethic than others. You may want to eradicate these differences, but thats not being realistic. In real life, variation will always exist.

once we are all widely educated, the gaps will all but disappear.
