Beck's constant repetition of "ACORN" is supposed to be a "scary reference" that induces cringing, but in reality ACORN is a community action group to get low income people registered to vote. Since when are workers rights and shifting to a sustainable energy economy radical ideas. I think the vast majority of Americans support these ideas. Glenn Beck is the minority here. A sustainable energy would be a noble thing to accomplish and provide a significant advantage to our country if it can become economically viable and in my mind is certainly not a radical idea. The suggestion that workers in the US suffer is a radical suggestion. It baffles me how a labor org, after leeching from a Co for decades, can help contribute to the demise of a Co. and then walk out of bankruptcy owning part of the Co. at the expense of folks who have made honest investments.
I disagree. Since 1980, there has been massive violations of federal labor rights laws, that included illegal firings of members and violating contracts. Of course workers don't suffer the same conditions they did 90 years ago, but the average wage of the middle man has stagnated in the last 30 years, while the CEO's has proliferated. This has contributed to the lack of consumer confidence and spending power in our country, and was one of the many fuels of the current recession.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong but if you are blaming GM's downfall on the worker's demanding their benefits, then please don't repeat a ridiculous conservative talking point. My response to that would simply be that GM failed because they produced obsolete cars that no one in the world wanted to buy anymore. Workers that especially work on the assembly line need all the bonuses and coverages they can get, since they are susceptible to chronic illnesses (from debris or what have you).

I think you make a strong claim that can be argued. However, if you look historically, the rights of labor unions and members have been suppressed since 1980, and have continued that way ever since. I am no one to judge that all CEOs are bad and all labor unions are good. Theres nothing wrong with pointing out some greed of the unions, but be careful when attacking them that you are not listening to conservative propaganda that aims to hurt the rights of American workers.

This has really hurt the standard of living in the US, and was one of the fuels of the recession. Such a phenomenon pursued because of the suppression of labor rights.

We are supposed to be a nation of laws with a justice system. Practitioners of "Social Justice" should be forced to cite the body of "social law" and leave enforcement to "Social Law Officers." Can you see why the words "social justice" sound particularly stupid and dangerous coming from the President, who is supposed to be well acquainted with "real" law? It is an attempt to skirt the justice system. A president should know better. You should know better. Since when are workers rights and shifting to a sustainable energy economy radical ideas. I think the vast majority of Americans support these ideas. Glenn Beck is the minority here. A sustainable energy would be a noble thing to accomplish and provide a significant advantage to our country if it can become economically viable and in my mind is certainly not a radical idea. The suggestion that workers in the US suffer is a radical suggestion. It baffles me how a labor org, after leeching from a Co for decades, can help contribute to the demise of a Co. and then walk out of bankruptcy owning part of the Co. at the expense of folks who have made honest investments.

I disagree. Since 1980, there has been massive violations of federal labor rights laws, that included illegal firings of members and violating contracts. Of course workers don't suffer the same conditions they did 90 years ago, but the average wage of the middle man has stagnated in the last 30 years, while the CEO's has proliferated. This has contributed to the lack of consumer confidence and spending power in our country, and was one of the many fuels of the current recession.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but if you are blaming GM's downfall on the worker's demanding their benefits, then please don't repeat a ridiculous conservative talking point. My response to that would simply be that GM failed because they produced obsolete cars that no one in the world wanted to buy anymore. Workers that especially work on the assembly line need all the bonuses and coverages they can get, since they are susceptible to chronic illnesses (from debris or what have you).

1st point is an exc point and I agree completely, too much focus on profits and not enough focus on product and ppl. 2nd, the labor unions are feeding off the paranoia of the populous and they are getting rich off of it. It is just as important to be aware of that as it is to be aware of Co. greed. I don't feel that they are solely responsible, GM board and decision making certainly bears some respnsblty but the fact of the matter remains that labor org played a role and was shockingly rewarded.

I think you make a strong claim that can be argued. However, if you look historically, the rights of labor unions and members have been suppressed since 1980, and have continued that way ever since. I am no one to judge that all CEOs are bad and all labor unions are good. Theres nothing wrong with pointing out some greed of the unions, but be careful when attacking them that you are not listening to conservative propaganda that aims to hurt the rights of American workers.

If you read up on many intellect opinions, such as Noam Chomsky, one of the biggest problems with the American economy is that consumer spending continues to rise (due to mass advertising and delusion) while wages have maintained stagnated during the past 30 years, especially compared to corporate salaries. This has really hurt the standard of living in the US, and was one of the fuels of the recession. Such a phenomenon pursued because of the suppression of labor rights.

Perhaps China is surpassing the world economically because globalization allows businesses to exploit their cheap labor, and they benefit from their mass exportation of goods. Socialism has absolutely nothing to do with that. The US's rise to power was nothing special either. By entering WWII late, and therefore not being heavily battered, we were the only stable economy post-WWII, and exploited this for the past 50 years.

The businesses do not need sympathy. I just want people to understand that for every dollar in increased taxes, the businesses must cut a dollar from wages & benefits to offset the expense. Jones has many awards and honors and attended Yale law school. So as you can see some good can come from ill informed people like Glen Beck. I agree this all sounds crazy, but if you go back to when Glenn had only a radio show he was warning about things people were laughing at. He was on his soap box about this recession we are in (a recession if you are employed, depression if you are unemployed). People have always thought of him as crazy, he was right about too much. Do a little research, you'll wonder too!!!
