Just a thought about snow being an issue. I believe manufacturers offer turret extensions from 2 to 48 inches to raise it above roof snow. I'm designing my small house now and will require a 36" extension due to a north-facing roof slope.

In my house, top flood is too hot in summer and loss most heat in winter. If there is a thin lightweight PVC tube water bed laid on the roof similar to this, it can take back lost heat and absorb heat energy from the sun. But the winter is cold here; can salt or antifreeze water work in it?
