Such a song, I haven't heard this version before. I have a slower version by Henry Grimes (bass) who was thought dead for many years. Finally he was found in a dumpy apt in downtown LA. He didn't have a proper bass, so Christian McBride bought him one. Great story though
David Murray is just phenomenal. I first heard him in 1975 when he sat in with the Cecil Taylor Unit at the Five Spot. He was a powerful player even at that young age. It's been a thrill to watch him develop over the years into one of the all-time greats. He's like Charles Mingus, a marvelous composer and instrumentalist.
