You can say that again. My sister bought a new Excel in '94. Hyundais were still cheap, crappy cars. Her Excel was no exception. I thought it was a nice car, but I was 12, what did I know. LOL Cut to present day, I have an '06 Optima (same as Sonata) and it's actually a really nice car. If you took all the Kia badges off of it and had no previous knowledge who made it, then took it for a drive, you'd swear you are driving something with a higher reputation than a Kia/Hyundai. I love it!
Yup. I had a 2006 Elantra which I beat the balls off of for a year and never had a problem. My buddy just bought an '06 Sonata V6 and let me drive it the other day. Sporty enough to make you grin, soft enough to keep you comfortable. Much nicer car than my '07 Chrysler Sebring sedan.
The 2.4L 4cyl. used in the Sebring is a variation of the same 4cyl. used in the Sonata/Optima. Supposedly, Hyundai did a better job than Chrysler with their variation though. I love my 2.4L. It's great on gas, plenty enough power, and sounds nice for a 4 banger.
Yeah the 2.4 in my Sebring is not the problem. The power to weight ratio is shot. The steering is completely without feeling and lane changes at anything above 50 MPH are scary at best... but enough about that. Go Hyundai. LOL.
Power to weight ratio is shot? I think my Optima is heavier and it's got good power with the 4. Not sure what the hp is with Chryslers version, but in my '06 Optima it's 161hp. Feels plenty quick. Buy a Hyundai next go around and maybe you'll be happier.
These cars are sales flops, Merc, BMW and Lexus are laughing their asses off.
