  • @lozer13

Agreed. It's probably an attention thing.

Your candle burned out long before

    Your legend NEVER did

    ???

  • @Art13bg "your candle burned out long before" isnt a complete sentence. its Your candle burned out before your legend ever did meaning that she died but her legend still lived on

  • I know this song is about Monroe, but my girlfriend who passed away on November 23, 2011 was named Norma Jean. Love you always!!!

  • RIP MARCO SIMMONCHELI THE ROAD WARRIOR

  • Música MARAVILHOSA!

  • I love Marilyn Monroe...

Bit how I feel sad for Norma Jeane...

  • This song was originally written for norma jean aka marilyn monroe but Elton and his lyricist, Bernie Taupin, rewrote the lyrics and played this at Princess Diana's funeral in 1997. They changed the first line from "Goodbye Norma Jean" to "Goodbye England's Rose." After the funeral, Elton released the version dedicated to Princess Diana as "Candle In The Wind '97." Within a month, it became a #1 UK hit and the biggest selling single ever. Proceeds went to charity.

  • Marilyn Monroe, Lady Diana, Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor... This songs fits with every Hollywood star... May them rest in peace, and their brighting souls shine forever.

  • LI+OL

  • This song fits perfectly with Marco Simoncelli s death:(

  • love this song! also love the other version which was written for Princess Diana<3 :')

  • @semkobenko lovely.....

  • I wished she could have heard this song in life, her soul would feel blessed to know that not everyone judged the same way. and elton jhon's talent is amazing to get 2 diferent song from the same melody.

  • I wished she could have heard this song in life, her soul would feel blessed to know that everyone judged the same way. and elton jhon's talent is amazing to get 2 diferent song from the same melody.

  • Please, don't fight about the sort of person Marilyn Monroe was. She was phenomenal at what she did, that's all that matters. This song is beautiful; just listen to it.

  • Britney Spears is the modern day Norma Jean

  • @greatestofalltime01 No. She Isn't.

  • @greatestofalltime01 yeeeaaahhhh i dont think so >__>

  • @greatestofalltime01 You clearly don't know who Norma Jeane/Marilyn Monroe was. People will have forgot Britney's name in 50 years. No-one has forgetten Norma Jeane!

  • Amazing song!!

  • Wonderfull!

  • WONDERFUL MARILYN

You will always live in our hearts.

  • You're an idiot if you've just watched this video and you still dont know who this song is about.

    Marilyn Monroe legend. <3

  • @BeginToWonder This song has always been about the one and only Marilyn to me.He should have made another song for Diana in my opinion. This one belongs to Marilyn as far as I'm concerned.

  • @BeginToWonder princess Diana u idiot , not marilyn monroe

  • @mahsaraha777 This one is about Monroe, he rewrote it for Diana...

  • @mahsaraha777 the lyrics are right in front of you, he specifically mentions Monroe

'who sees you as something more than sexual/ more than just our Marilyn Monroe

  • @mahsaraha777 IT WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN FOR MARILYN MONROE THAT'S WHY HE SAYS GOODBYE NORMA JEAN YOU PLONK!

  • @BeginToWonder Never heard of her

  • @Doctoratkins Sorry, you're just completely stupid.

  • @BeginToWonder Lol you trolled some people a lot ;D

  • may b intended for sum 1 else but the chorus reminds me of my little sister hu died as a baby

  • My name is Mary Jean...I had a dog named Tippy....I am a recovering addict /alcoholic...i understood her pain before my own.

  • That fact that this song was not only a hit once by twice with different lyrics shows just how amazing Elton and Bernie really are.

  • "Blonde" by Joyce Carol Oates was one of the best books i've read. Elton Johns perception of Marilyn (shown in this song) agrees with the book.

  • Marilyn Monroe is a tragic example of what happens when people see you for little more than your body and you can't get close to anyone because they don't see you, they see your rolls on the silver screen. Fame is a painful and harsh mistress and it destroys more than it benifits. Heath Letcher, Micheal Jackson(who was destroyed long before his candle went out. Which resulted in the infamy that haunted him later in life, up until his death.), and so many other have died thanks to fame.

  • @Karegador00 sad but true :(

  • @Karegador00 Sorry. But the truth is. She was a glaring example of what happens when people forget who they are and where they came from. Money and stardom doesn't mean you are above the masses. It just means you have to work harder to hold onto who you really are. Norma Jean lost her roots. She lost her way and she paid for it in blood. My hope will always be that she is remembered for the tragic end she met. Not the glitz and glamour that blinded her and so many others in her wake....

  • @kencrump Are you actually blaming a person for "Forgetting" a life of mental and emotional abuse and abandonment by her insane mother, topped off with sexual abuse all through her young adulthood? Her problems were manifestations of trauma. Ever notice how many people in the Biz have similar stories? "Glitz" and Glamour" of public life is, for them, a sort of coping device so that they feel loved.

  • good job

  • The pressure of fame has killed many. Marilyn died of drugs because people put too much pressure on her.... I love her, always have since I was little.....

  • i really love this song, the music is so beautiful

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL Monroe was her grandmothers last name! they were going to originally call her Marilyn Miller but she wanted to have something to do with her family!

  • This song should never have been changed for Princess Diana. I think only one woman deserves the rite to be called a Princess and that was the one and only gorgeous, caring, lovely Marilyn Monroe xx

  • @madamebiLLy82281 BUT Lady Diana was still an AMAZING person!

  • 'Marilyne was found in the nude' ....... Obviously the marilyn monroe version!!!

  • who can dislike this song!?!?!?

  • i have this song on my keyboard piano. :) its so good. i sing it a lot :3

  • this song gives me goosebumps.

  • i cant belive this is the most sucessfull song of all time

  • Respond to this video...

  • @WasWasLo Why can't you believe* it?

  • @madamebiLLy82281 because its a good song very good but doesn't deserves to be the most sucessfull at all time. but i guess it is because of princess diana or w-e and its too hyped but respect!~

  • @WasWasLo It was actually after Marilyn Monroe. But its the passion in the song. Someone is singing this amazing song for someone he never met. It was seeing the other side of someone, not just the superstar everyone saw.

  • Norma Jeane/Marilyn Monroe -- forever a legend

  • This song should of stayed this song not twisted into something else. This is Marilyn's song sorry Princess Diana.

  • @ShnapkrakklePop OHMIGOD THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!! i agree a hundred percent!

  • Just to get things straight with everyone, Elton wrote this first for Marilyn Monroe. THIS is the original. Later on, however, when Princess Dianna passed away, Elton re-used this song for Dianna, but instead of 'Goodbye Norma Jean' , it was 'Goodbye English Rose'.

  • how cant you know :S it says "who sees you as somethin more than sexual, more than just our marilyn monroe" but whatever :)

  • Marilyn's former name was spelt with an 'E' at the end of it, 'Norma Jeane'. Beautiful song.

  • Just a wonderful music. I love it.

  • how dumb can you lot get??!!! "goodbye norma jean" ??

  • I like both versions, but I feel like this one was much sweeter. I mean, he's writing for someone, who probably would never have had anyone write about her. It's so touching and sweet, that he would write for her, I mean, I'm sure everyone would be writing about Princess Diana. They were both very wonderful people, but I'm just saying, that this is unique.

  • Elton John has two versions. One for Marilyn Monroe and then he remade another one for when Princess Diana died.

r.i.p to the both of them :( Both very beautiful people !

  • finalmente quello che cercavo..canzone con testo..cmq era una grande diana e elton john ank se è gay resta sempre bravo

  • just o stop the arguments. This song is for MARILYN MONROE!! ok there its settled!

  • to much for that...for whom...we better ask elton john

    -black heart-

  • my aunty had this played at her funeral :( i love you aunty joanne xoxo

  • this video is to Marylin Monroe but after it was edited special to princess Diana

  • Norma Jean AKA Marilyn Monroe is a beautiful amazing wonderful women that ever hit the Earth. People wanted to be her. But now that she is gone people dress up and dye their hair blond and smile like the angel but they could never compare.I would have like to known her but i wasn't even born. I'm just 11 and i love her

  • @unicornheart99 you are really weird

  • @unicornheart99 "Norma Jean AKA Marilyn Monroe is a beautiful amazing wonderful women that ever hit the Earth" Biggest understatement I have ever heard!

  • IS FOR MARILYN MONROE!!!! HELOOO HE SAY NORMA JEAN

  • rest in peace norma jean!

  • I can't believe that some people are even asking whether this one is for Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana. Marilyn Monroe's name is IN THE LYRICS. This video HAS ALL OF THE LYRICS WRITTEN ON THE SCREEN.

Or you can google Norma Jean if you can't figure it out after that...

  • @Cloudface Well, I guess we can say that there are some really unintelligent people out there on the internet! :p

  • This shows Norma Jean not Marilyn. The real her.(:

  • Marylin Monroe, then re done for Princess Diana when she was killed :) x

  • Goodbye Elizabeth Taylor

  • much different than rihanna and J-Z, because this is called music

  • I get to do a lyrical dance to this!! Love it! So sad though
