I got my dog from people who had too much work with him, and they told me they have him from a puppy mill. When we got him he was 8 weeks old and they got him with 4 weeks old. He didn't grow very well...
since we got him he got operated once and he's gonna be operated again beginning of next year... he cant breath properly and now he sometimes falls over because the oxygen doesn't travel properly through his whole body...
The American Kennel Club vigorously opposes any sterilization of animals. For every animal registered with the AKC, of which Puppy mills comprise 80% of the AKC's business, they charge $20 per dog and $25 per litter (plus $2 per puppy).
In 2006 the American Kennel Club registered 870,000 individual dogs and 416,000 litters, earning $30 million in revenues from registration of dogs born in puppy mills.
Puppy mills are a sickening business. There are over 6,000 federally licensed breeding kennels in the U.S. (and untold numbers of unlicensed) producing an estimated 2 - 4 million animals a year. Approximately 3,500 petstores in the United States sell 500,000 puppies a year from puppy mills.
Wholesale dog breeding and the shipment of live animals are regulated by the USDA under the Animal Welfare Act. The law, however, is poorly enforced. The USDA has few agents to inspect these facilities.
thanks for showing what most sane people are saying about puppy mills. I have a video posted on a puppy mill shut down. It's just to bad it doesn't get a lot of views. Most don't care about puppymills. I believe they need to be shut down and prosecuted for the horror they've put the dogs through.
hope you get all these evil places shut down i agree with the speakers adopt from a shelter not a puppy mill we in my country have very strict rules about dog breeders and are inspected on a regular basis if they do not come up to scratch they are closed down
