You'd think they could supply a cheaper, regular video of the landing. I realize their instruments are more important, but it seems they often neglect to put a typical camera for viewing after the fact. They have this tendency to always use weird technical cameras, or ones with odd fields of view, or piece images together, etc. This one looks like it's blowing up in the center. At least it was still fun to watch.
Personally I think it's an awsome bit of technolgy. The reason it looks like it's blowing up is because it's falling and spinining which makes it act like a fish-eye lense and gives the widest view possible.
A typical camera wouldn't see a thing because there is a lot less light on Titan than a moonlit night on Earth and an artificial light source wouldn't work over that distance.
It's also about minus 170 degC so a typical camera wouldn't last long before it's moving parts froze solid.
Ìt is a nice video. I think this would make people all over the world especially the world leaders to change the way in which they generate electricity so as to drastically reduce the CO2 emmision
Thats not a artistic concept. Its a edited compressed vid of the 4h descent on Titan.
There is a compass at lower right which shows how the probe did rotate during landing and its position to Cassini and Sun.
Every color and sound represents a diffrent scientific instrument and the backround sound is the signal strenght(next to compass/green line). (red and blue arrow) On the left you see the flightpath and phases of the chutes.
Nobody gave major importance to this event from what I remember. But I personally think that this mission is even better than the Mars Rovers, I mean, we are talking about Titan, a real far away place, no lander had been there before.
The video is great, and yes it is very poetic. I would like to get more videos of this kind.I know that there were landers on Venus, does anybody knows if there are similar videos?
the foot print is a picture of a moon landing to use as a distance comparison. What is intresting is there is a giant mountain and it looks as though its called mount everest. I thought that was pretty cool
it's a video of the decent to the surface of one of saturns moons, titan. i remember hearing about this 5 years ago in a library and was psyked when it landed. and we got our first pics.

Hey, this is NOT a NASA video!!
It's a ESA video, and Huygens is a French probe, Cassini is American.

Hee hee. It's great as an art project, but it would be better if everything was explained. I'm not sure I understand how it's operating.

Pretty funny. The video is making fun of NASA because in the last 25 years Challenger and Discovery exploded and other mistakes occurred.

Actually I think that's a snapshot from the moon mission. Notice the flag and the very astronaut-like foot-mark?

Noticed that the vid is a bunch of random pictures and sounds thrown together for some artistic concept?

I believe it was more of a overview rather a complete computer they were working off of. and I think the information was sped up
