Resident Evil 4 and 5 both took 5 years to make, with RE4 going through many versions, one of which became Devil May Cry, the difference is that in the case of 5, there was no Shinji Mikami in charge. The series has become much more conservative since Mikami left. Mikami's RE5 would likely have been hugely different from RE4.

Auto save in a Resident Evil game is just wrong, it takes away one of RE's most genius elements, the typewriters. RE0 had a much better partner system, imagine RE0 with co-op. You'd really have to co-operate with each other to get through sections of the game and manage inventory.

Mikami was bold with RE4 in doing something new, and without his presence Capcom played safe. RE4 is very different to its predecessors but still feels like RE, whereas RE5 feels like a generic action shooter.

I still prefer Outbreak for co-op Resident Evil. I had problems with lag and unresponsive controls, but the concept is great. It was basically Left 4 Dead before L4D was ever conceived. A party of four people fighting a zombie outbreak with limited weaponry. It forced players to cooperate. You could board up doors, swap items. I think it needs a re-release on XBL Arcade or PSN with some touch-ups here and there. I'd buy it right away.

Auto save sucks royal ass not only on this game but in every game I have played.

Something that really bothered me about RE5 is how they completely bombed the storyline. It's like they went from RE1-RE5 when in actuality that's not what happened at all. The events of RE3 are unmentioned and Code Veronica which bothers me the most because that's where they find out Wesker's still alive. This game's storyline blows. They should get Mikami back for RE6.

I really hope when they mention making resident evil series a reboot. They didn't mean that they are going to make it so Alice could be the main character of the games and completely make the games based of that stupid ass movie that Paul Fucking Anderson did. Sort of how Silent Hill games are now based off of the movie.

I think they really did put a lot of effort in the game, but it had so much potential to be better. The story kept me there, which was better than RE4's and the most involving plot of any RE game. My sentence review would be: "Great game, but could have been more".

Uh guys, you ever think of a time where a game that felt like RE should be here by now, something like oh I don't know what Capcom could... Resident Evil 4 early version!

Granted there wasn't any zombies and it was a bit Silent Hill-ish in production but my god the whole concept of that game was amazing and if it was a bit of Zombies here and there then Capcom wouldn't be a bunch of dicks in the first place. Nougie, next time listen to ThatEnglishDude more cause hes awesome.

btw i agree with you guys. resident evil is NOT survival horror anymore. Capcom needs to make sure their fans of olde get a decent addition to the series. i didnt even bother to buy resident evil 5, which is a shame because i can beat all the first 3 in under 2 hours (on a good day). In fact, if the next ones anything like 4 and 5 im just going to write off the series as a whole and move on.its a shame people dont get to see the same resident evil that we grew up with.

Personally I liked RE 5 as a game, but I didn't like how it fit in with the whole series. It just really didn't feel like a RE game to me which was disappointing. Hopefully in the future I'd like to see HORROR get brought back to the series and maybe even bring back the camera angles like of the classics. And of course they gotta bring back the ZOMBIES! Thats a must!!!!

I laughed at the Uncharted 2 disscusion when Jack(T.E.D) wanted to talk but Nougie disrupted him. That happened like 3 times and I laughed a little. Other than that, RE5 was no great of a game for the RE series. I mean, it toke some elements from the 4th one, where the enemies aren't zombies, their diseased monsters. Also that their both third-person shooters, which RE5 took from RE4. RE4 was a great game(played it on the Wii, awsome), but RE5...well...was no good of a game. Nougie and TED ROCK!

i think the main problem is that both games have seriously changed from horror. sure there are cheap scares in both games, but in my opinion both games are more run and gun, and i say this because i've managed to beat 4 and 5 on professional doing this. i'll admit that i may be wrong, but opinions of friends and you guys suggest this could be the case.

i feel that RE4 was scarier than RE5 and more like a Resident Evil game but I still like RE5 but it does feel more like action than horror.

no they prob have infinite ammo guns and dont carry ammo so they wouldnt have any ammo for their guns

making it alot harder and you'd be carrying them through the game till they found ammo or got rid of one of their weapons to carry ammo
