I wonder if all those cigarette packs that now have "FSC" (Fire Safe Cigarette)printed on the pack is a nice way of saying BFRs???? now that second-hand smoke might really kill you.
I'm a fan of both of these guys but Glenn was just off in this interview. He seemed distracted or in a hurry. I put all the blame on Glenn for this one. It was just a bad interview. He didn't even say hi until Lee said it.
Ouch! Lee did a great job. Only I wish he would be more interrupting and just a tiny bit more aggressive in responding. Not too much to tarnish his polite demeanor. just enough to not allow Glenn to swallow up Lee's excellent points.
@zacwheaties He does. 1) They save 40,000 lives a year. 2) Without context, the word toxic is meaningless. What you need to take into account is the LD50, and how the chemical gets into your body (ingestion, inhalation, contact, etc). He brings up both of these points in the critique.
But the main point that he is trying to raise is that it is a trade off. Children aren't prepared to make that judgment. They hear neuro-toxin and that freaks them out.
Like I said in my other comment I'm a fan of both of these guys. I was just pointing out to the guy who complained about Glenn giving his opinion because he's a "journalist" Glenn himself says he's not a journalist. It's not a slam it's the truth.
Bush wanted to grow the bubble economy that's why he said to go and shop, America is consuming more than it's producing by going into debt and that's not a good thing, the debt is growing faster than the GDP which is why the economy recovery is phony and will be short lived. but the story of stuff wants to brainwash you that consumption is just outright bad because you don't pay for the stuff, this is a purely a Marxist argument, I can't believe anyone actually takes the SOS video seriously.
wow. anyone who wants to debunk the story of stuff, is obviously protecting some sort of identity or political ideology. we are obviously destroying the earth. and free market capitalism is obviously nothing but detrimental to life in general. can you disagree? please tell me how? WITHOUT being SUBJECTIVE
man oh man, some people are so tuck in their ideas. the truth is were fucking up earth. no way around it. and the truth is free market capitalism is not anything bu detrimental to life. and anyone who disagrees is protecting their image or their indoctrinations. become of aware of emergents
Lee Doren is a total idiot where it comes to discussing epidemiology and toxicology. But hell, tell him to keep spewing his stupidity, I look forward to the chance to trash him.
Lee Doren's critique of brominated flame retardants is stupid. BFR's are not "extremely toxic" as labelled in the film, but no halogenated compound that is stable and has bioaccumulation merits flippant acceptance as HTWW provides.
How Stuff Works is not being widely shown in schools either, more garbage from conservatives seeking a whipping boy.
Jeez, I've done a lot of Beck trashing, but I like what he says here (because he agrees with me, haha). GREED FAILED.
That's exactly what got us to our present condition: greed.
Congratulations to Lee Doren for moving up the ladder of success. One day when he's really big I'll say "I used you watch him on his little YouTube channel. NOW look at him."
To metyler: I HATE, HATE, HATE the delay! I guess they're afraid Glenn or Lee will SWEAR. It ruins the entire rhythm of a conversation. Awful!
Greed is a central part of the human condition. Therefore, greed cannot fail. With out greed, nothing worth while would ever happen. People won't accept, enjoy, or even just do something if there is no inheriant reward for doing so. Thats just how it is. People would never put themselves through the horrors of medical school, for instance, if a sports car and hot blonde trophy wife wasn't the reward. (continued)
I don't like to think of greed as just a "ho hum" part of the human condition. It's like saying "Well, lots of people have killed for money, love, power. etc. It's just part of the human condition!" I believe we're here to discover our higher self, not to get fat and happy on sex, drugs, rape, torture and whatever else is thrown into the mix.
I don't think greed is inherent. Steven Spielberg is a great film director. Yeah, he's SUPER wealthy, but he LOVES making films. Money is a by-product.
PART 2 -- If Steven Spielberg ONLY cared about making money, he'd have made two movies and said "Hey, I've got 20 million. Time to retire." He'll probably be making films into his late 70s, just like uber wealthy Clint Eastwood!
I believe it's a loser's attitude to "Work, make money, retire as soon as possible." Do what you love, the money will follow. Greed need not apply.
It's not just toxic -- it's SUPER TOXIC *fanfare plays*

What the hell? Since when a journalist is allowed to show his opinion o.0?
Starting at 3:35 this is just ridiculous, lol, especially during the forth minute

Neither one of these guys are Journalists. It's called The Glenn Beck Show, not the nightly news.

@fishblades oh yes and we all know the "nightly news" is fact based with no bias or injected political opinions. Glen does a far better job.

Somehow, I don't feel the need to argue with someone who defends the likes of Beck. It doesn't meet my standard of legitimacy nor deserving.
postsimianproduct 2 years ago
This is a complete failure of a defense of capitalism by two inconsistent and minarchist morons.
'Capitalism' is a legally equal catallactic & individualistic social pattern where people are rewarded for making wise decisions and cooperating!!
If a business does something stupid, don't defend it as if you were defending 'capitalism'!
You can't blame change on a constant. 'Greed' and 'Human Nature' are the scape-goats of the ignorant.
Please retract this video. This is a disservice to us.

because: 'This is a disservice to us.'
