Nice... The top comments are about Rodney's pronunciation... What? You people have never heard a Canadian accent before? Keep up the great videos, Rodney!
@lohgrim me too! I've watched all of the WiP videos now and have purchased 3 new games because of it and am starting a weekly gaming night with a few pals next week. Rodney has started a new obsession for me here. I'm even planning on changing the spare room into a gaming room lol.
Just wanted to add a quick "thank you" for this series. I got this game for Christmas, read the rules and then played it... poorly. I didn't understand the rules well, and I kept getting things wrong and had to look up rules constantly, even though I had also watched the official FFG videos. So, I watched your series and by the end I understood how to play and picked up some strategies as well. Thanks a lot. Now if you could just do series about how to get my wife to play the game with me.... :)
Score! "Your order of Lord of the Rings: The Card Game has been shipped". I can't wait for it to get here. BTW I hear arrrr when you say card but your "aboots" crack me up lol.
Arg...you are going to cost me a diaper load of money here! Every game I watch I absolutely MUST have. So far I'm in for Small World (that game looks totally awesome) I just got done watching Mansions of Madness and I have my fingers crossed in hopes I win the 7 Wonders game and not have to buy that one. I need to quit watching these because this game looks great too and I have enough friends to play this one lol.
@niceteam5675 That's great to hear! There are a lot of great board games out there - we only show a few, so be sure to go to your local game store and check them out! Then come back here and maybe we can help you learn some of them.
You took the words out of my mouth. So much more value out of seeing a game played than just a review. Glad you took the initiative to do this. Wondering if you would consider guest videos. If we were to follow your format of explanation/overview then game play through, would that be something you'd be interested in posting? I've wanted to do something similar but don't want to make a channel that is repetitive to yours.
I wasn't convinced at first by LOTR : LCG, but after seeing your series, I think I'll buy it soon. It was a very fun series, and I hope there'll be a part 2 with one of the new extensions :)
I also would like to see gameplay with deck build from different spheres. But solo gameplay is interesting and it gives a fealin of traveling throw the Mirkwood. Main question is how random this game are after some few games, if I don't have any expansion packs?
@Bormindin LOTS of randomness just in the core set. You could easily play that for quite awhile without getting the expansions, although the expansions are fun to get too.
I actually just got this game the other day. After reading the rule book and watching the tutorial videos from Fantasy Flight Games website, I was still a little confused. So thank you for covering how this game is played. I really, really appreciate it.
Also, I watched the "Let's Play Mansions of Madness" videos in your other channel. It made me want to get the game...badly. :D
I wasn't excited about a card game all that much, but this looks like it could be fun. Not at all what I expected! Now I'm looking forward to seeing it -- ahem -- WATCHING it played.
@Ironsyndicate continuing ...attachments and events on play 4- yeah you can build a deck with mixed spheres , after you play for some time , you will be doing that a lot . Sorry about my English and I hope that I helped a bit.
@Ironsyndicate 1- the core set has 3 scenarios ( easy, medium and a hard one) , the expansions I don't own but I was told that it has one big scenario each expansion and we have already 5 expansions announced 2-FFG announced the deluxe expansion Khazad Dum , it will have 170 cards and few scenarios and it will be on the dark tunnels of the dwarves city ( Moria yeah!!) 3- player must choose 3 heroes but you can have as many allies as you can pay to have , you spend resource tokens to put allies
@Erni1313 that tree means that it uses the encounter deck from the "Passage through Mirkwood" , the Orc symbol is the "Dol Gudur Orcs" encounter deck and the spider is the "Spiders of Mirkwood" encounter deck , as it was explained at the video , the first scenario (Passage through Mirkwood) uses the encounter decks from those 3 symbols ( spider, orc , tree)
Have a question. The mission cards has symbols in the "A" side telling you which cars you must use in the encounter deck, "tree", "spider", "orc" in this case, but... what is the symbol of the tree in the "B" side of the mission card for?
How about a link to your sponsor's "cart page" of whichever game you happen to be showcasing in your video in your description?
That way if a subscriber decides to purchase the game while watching your video, you have the link ready for them. affiliate tags would be nice for you in the background, but still your sponsor's pages should be able to detect whence their shopper/purchaser came from. that way sponsor could track your referral..AND give you swag for future anticipated sales
@JChalant I can't help myself! I haven't gone to the stage of sleeving cards in more traditional styled board games... but I'll probabaly get there someday :)
@JChalant This would be a great idea. My sponsor is a very new store, which is aprt of the reason I am excited to me supporting him as well. It's new, but it's a really good place. However, because they are a smaller venue, they haven't set up online retailing yet. Hopefully in the near future!
Hi there. This, again, was a super session. Thank you very much. Gamers all over the globe appreciate your efforts. Like with Nike: Just Awesome!
I very much like that you introduced the idea of "Watch It Played" in the beginning of this video for new visitors and spectators. How about telling people how they may support you besides submitting considerations and proposals on game turns. I'd like to fund some EURos ... er ... USDs; but how would this (small amount of) money reach you???
@antonausallerwelt Nope that's not me. Are you sure you typed it in right? It should be associated with Rodney Smith. I have gotten a few donations so far, so I know my Paypal account is working. Could you try again and let me know what happens?
Great presentation of the basic elements of the game. Now that the presence of Andrea or Luke isn't required in LotR, will you release videos more often?
Hm, almost 200 views after a few hours. Looks this series will be even more successful than Wrath of Ashardalon.
@watchitplayed, Cool overview, love the artwork. Don't think I'll be adding this one to my collection in the near future though, as I've recently started to collect the Call of Cthulhu LCG. There's a small spelling error in the end credits, where youy spelled "porducer". ;)
Awesome overview. I think you really covered all the bases here. As much as I love the Tactics deck, I hope you don't choose it for this solo adventure, hehe. It can be brutally difficult without a 2nd player helping out, as I'm sure you know! Also, it looks like you assembled your Threat Tracker upside-down! Those two dials simply need to be switched, hehe.
@GeckoTH Brutally difficult you say? Sounds perfect! My gosh... you're right about the Threat Tracker. For crying out loud! This was going to be my first "error free" series :)

Am I the only one that noticed the magic wardrobe change? :P
I do have a few questions on the game:
1. How many scenarios come with the core set? And each expansion?
2. Are there big-box expansions available for this, like the Call of Cthulhu LCG?
3. Are you limited to the number of Heroes in your party?
4. Can you mix and match spheres of influence (taking one hero from each sphere, for instance), or can you only have one per deck?
