Alternatively, you can put the Amaretto shot in a microwave for 4 seconds, it brings enough of the alcohol to the surface for it to light quite nicely. After 6 or 7 seconds it starts to boil and you lose alcohol content, so stick to 4 seconds exactly.

when you "drop" a flaming shot, or any shot for that matter, into a beer, don't drop it from above the level of the beer. lower the shot glass part way down the release, this will minimize splashing.
