I agree with everything you've expressed. I wasn't raised old school and because of that I was put in a lot of "not cool for kids" situations. Thank God never molested or anything but still... I raised my kids (4) VERY OLD SCHOOL. No sleep overs...I had no bfs hanging around...no T.V in the home...no dating for them ..nothing.
I've never had problems with my kids apart from reminding them of chores.
Now their young adults on their own and doing very well. I encourage parents 2 stay FOCUSED.
I agree Shanda. I'm only 18 and I was raised old school too lol. And I agree that an old school ass whoopin isn't that bad lol I survived and I agree it did make me a much better person then many people my age.
I gave shanda says a shot and I'm not regretting it one bit love the topics and love the hair lol I'm getting married to my best friend and she the best thing that ever happened to me but how can I keep it this way through out my marriage
I love this video so much! I am brand new to both channels and I have already learned so much and identified!
Everything you just spoke on parenting and taking care of children is GOSPEL. I wish more parents had this kind of mentality, really. The world is harsh. As grown folk, we know it, we've been through it. And when you have children, it's your DUTY to protect them from the harsh realities, but keeping it real, and teaching them how to protect themselves as they grow.
That's so true. Ima mother. My son will be one soon. Never have I left him wit someone who isn't family. One allow 1 person to watch my son. Never brought no guy around him that isn't his daddy. That isn't da thing to do. Girls now ah days dnt understand. They put guys before there own kids and get to caught up n love that wjen the guy is hurting there kids there to blind to see !
mom was and still is like your mother my first sleep over at another person house didn't happen till i was 13 or so and i had to call every hour and all the hour and everything you say is indeed true true my mom still wants to meet my friends and know who i'm hanging out with and i'm 22 but it kept me out of trouble
Sorry to be all off topic you guys but Shanda, can you or Scoop plz inform us about yals daytime talk show... Comment or next show plz because I dont watch much television but if I miss THIS show I am going to be highly upset because I am really looking foward... *Keep up the good work* :D
I totally agree wit every thing Shanda said... She is so smart N looks absolutely beautiful... I actually think she looks better wit straight hair... Its just so hard to believe her age...
Thanks for this video Shanda! I hope you don't mind I shared it with my Facebook Family. You had some very good things to say and I wanted to spread the word. There are quite a few parents today who lack in the skill of actually being a responsible parent and I'm glad you spoke on it. By the way I love the hair its fierce!
I agree! I'm so tired of hearing about children murdered or missing because of the mother's boyfriend. And that man always has a past history..Please please please women and men...be careful whom you have your child around..
Me too..my parents never let me really sleep over people's house. Alot of parents nowadays just seen to comfortable..or maybe they are just too busy..smh
Looking beautiful as usual..I noticed since your weight vid..you face is looking slimmer! I need to take notes!!
I agree with not letting new guys into kids life for example myself and my ex became parents very young i was 16 she was 19 and alot of stuff happened and we broke up on good terms but a few weeks or a month after connor (my son) was born she gt with a new fella now i didnt like him i dnt knw if it was male ego or what bt i thought she shouldnt b introducing this guy 2 my son right away and as a result of this she moved away with him and now i've missed my sons 1st xmas and now his 2nd..
I would be absolutely terrified to leave my kids with someone I do not know, someone I do not trust ... My family relies mostly on my parents, and the in-laws. It really all depends.
I'm gonna need some advice soon beautiful, because you know what you're talking about. Love ya girl.
She has been more of a friend to me than any the "fake friends" I've encountered in my life.
With all that said, I just want to make a point that to be good mother you have to be JUST RIGHT. Sounds wierd.. but what you can't be very strict and not be a friend.. because your child ends up rebelling, and hiding things from you. I've seen my peers do it time and time again. You can't be too much of a friend.. because your child will end up running over you. Try to be in the middle.
I have to disagree with you on moms being their child's friend, because my mom is my bestfriend. I am 18 years old and I have always been comfortable in confiding into my mom. Which is rare between mother/daughter relationships. I have talked to her about sex. relationships, and my health. Most girls don't do that... they would rather talk to their "friends."
Because of my mom I didn't get mixed up with some of the things, girls my age do. She kept my head on straight pretty much.
Hi Shanda! This is Monica from M & W (Shanda4president) I subscribed to you blog a while ago, but this video actually made me come and comment....lol! What you said about not being able to spend the night at just anyone's house...wow! Preach. My parents were the exact same way, and they didn't care if I liked it or not. Now, I thank them for their vigilance and protection. That is how a parent truly shows their love. Keep it up! I'll be watching these blogs even if NO ONE else does...lol! Muah!
Totally 100% agree! I love the way you think, this is incredible what you're doing and more people especially teens need to hear this. Both men and women! Great video, keep them coming Shanda!
That's right beat that ass.. I have boys and I see were sorry ass men come from.. As A morther. Woman rise sorry men from brith, So stay in your kids ass.
I LOVE the straight hair! You look great rocking any hairdo!
Also, I like the separation of the man & wife show vlogs and the Shanda says vlogs. I love getting to know you more! I'm not a parent, but I feel like I learned so much about it.
I freaking love the hair. You are so gorgeous with either the straight or curly.
Women are being to lose with their kids. Loneliness doesnt mean that you need to have some stranger around your children. I dont trust nobody with my kids, They dont leave my site until they can talk. I am my daughter's fun but I am also her mother. I dont care if she likes me. I have to raise her with morals, values and responsiblity. She's not always going to like what I say but it is for the best.
I agree with you blog. I have an issue with moms who friend their children. My mother was my MOM and I understood that. Now we are more open but I am 23. A parent's role is to guide you and direct you, not be your friend. Parents need to stand up and be that role model that their kids need.
Also I LOVE the new look. I loved the fro as well but it took away from how pretty your face was. I thought that you were pretty before but I can really see you now!! Gorgeous!
That is exactly how we were raised (Haitians don't play!!) We weren't even allowed to sleep over cousins homes. You can't trust anyone these days. Its sad and scary at the same time. You spoke the truth Shanda! Good luck with ShandaSayz I love it so far!
First of all I LOVE your hair.Second I totally agree with this blog. As a single mom myself and a child that grew up in a abusive home I know that damage that can be done to a child in an abusive situation. I will admit that there are times when I want to be my adopted daughters best friend but this has opened my eyes to the potential dangers of that. Thank you Shanda
It's important to separate ourselves from our partners. I like Man and Wife but I understand your need to vblog too.
I have been to a funeral of a child that was beaten to death by a paramour. It is very important to educate women on correct discipline. In general paramours should not dispense physical punishment. Punishment should not be abusive if used. There are some punishments, burning, shaking violently, cutting, hitting with fists that are inappropriate for young developing kids
Amen girl, AMEN!! I loved this video! I watch all your vids, but I don't comment much on YT...however I HAD to speak on this. I couldn't agree with you more about (some) single mothers not taking parenting seriously enough. I was yelling PREACH throughout this ENTIRE blog. I love that you did this and I want to say thank you.
And for the record, I am a single mother so I'm not trying to talk down to single mothers. But ladies we have to do better by our babies, we OWE them that!
Hi Shanda, much love to both you and Scoop but ya know what I enjoy you not get interrupted errytime yall have topic discussions it like you cant get a word in edge wise, but I know yall said scoop got ADD and we still love yall both.
I wish they would bring the "old-school" way of discipline back. These kids today have no respect for themselves,so they respect no one. Plus, a lot of these parents are not more than 20 years older than their kids and weren't given the right guidance themselves, so they act juvenile also. I know of females who dress like their daughters, hang out with them, even date the daughters' 18 year-old friends!
But this is a sign of the times....The Word says that.
As always Diva great insight ! My Grandmommie raised me and trust she was Not my friend lol i thought she was the devil growing up lololol but you know what ? I have morals treat my elders very kindly and understand that every thing she did was with love . She used to say " whats out there today will be there tomorrow " . Or" theres nothing new under the sun " - Deff. not my friend and im proud of it !
I'm a first time mom of a 18 months old .some people think i'm over protective , i don't play that crap either . i rather be over protective. i was raise by my parents like that too . i remember going over a friends house for lunch when i was at school (about 6 years old )My aunt saw me told my mother and oh boy i got it that night . lol i wasn't allowed to go over people home without my parents knowing who they are . i thought they was just too strict but now as a mom i so understand .
Looking beautiful, Shanda! I'm nowhere near ready to have children but I've seen this take place soooo many times ---> woman dates a guy for less than a month and the man is moving in with her and her child! Drives me crazy. I so agree with you on this one!

From a psychological perspective there are three main types of parenting:
authoritarian-very strict, lots of rules
permissive-lets the child do what they want, little rules and punishment
authoritative-a balance between the first two, some rules and permissive exceptions with concrete reasoning backing them up
just thought you should know, LOVE your blogs, keep em coming!

Looking beautiful, Shanda! I'm nowhere near ready to have children but I've seen this take place soooo many times ---> woman dates a guy for less than a month and the man is moving in with her and her child! Drives me crazy. I so agree with you on this one!
