"Pro-life" is killing a different unborn future person, & stealing life choices from the mom & dad. A woman is born with a finite egg set. That's it. She can only bring to life some of them. That's biology. If YOU chose which one, you deny potential life to the egg the couple could have chosen.That's a reality that "pro-life" people never admit. They are forcing death on a different egg. If I got pregnant and decided to keep the baby, I would have to kiss all of my dreams goodbye and drop out of college. I would hold a grudge against that baby. I could have been a doctor, but instead I would be waitress. I would tell that child every day that I hated it and probably abuse it. @zaleenaabdullah There are over 400,000 children in orphanages and foster homes in America alone and over 5000 are added to the system each day. Less than half of them get adopted. For the rest of the kids, less than 60% graduate high school, more than 30% become homeless, etc. Foster homes are already criticized for being overcrowded and abusive, why would you expect orphanages to be any better? You think every person who wants a baby will be a good parent? You need a real wake up call.

If you can draw an actual correlation between overpopulation and lack of education, I'll give a rebuttal. But all you're saying is "There aren't enough teachers, thus we are overpopulated". I will not be getting any presents this year. We don't have a tree. My dad only recently moved in to our house because for most of my life he was an alcoholic.

Actually, you might find a better argument in favor of abortion from the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution. Here, the goal was to prevent minority groups from being denied their rights as enumerated in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. The language chosen was that all rights apply to those "born" or naturalized - thus US citizens. If it isn't yet born, it isn't yet a citizen, it doesn't yet get any rights (inalienable or otherwise).
Not sure how much more you want to know. Considering that the word "born" would somehow need to be replaced in the Constitution to make abortion illegal (barring some strange judicial interpretation), an amendment would need to happen.
This is not very likely as it would need to be passed by both houses of Congress (it could depending on who all has recently been elected), but then would need to be approved by 3/4 of the states, and there are at least 13 that would never do so. Choice will stay

On the tourists; they could leave and get an abortion elsewhere. Wealthy Americans could do the same - others would have to get by without or by dangerous methods performed illegally.
Also, conception can't be dated absolutely perfectly, so any attempt to prosecute someone under this change would have to determine the mother was in the US over an extended time period.

I appreciate that you are pro-life, but just so that you are no longer confused, it was the women that fought to legalize abortion. Most of the people opposing it are men.

If I got pregnant and decided to keep the baby, I would have to kiss all of my dreams goodbye and drop out of college. I would hold a grudge against that baby. I could have been a doctor, but instead I would be waitress. I would tell that child every day that I hated it and probably abuse it. As a result, that kid would get heavily involved in drugs and gangs.

For the rest of the kids, less than 60% graduate high school, more than 30% become homeless, etc. Foster homes are already criticized for being overcrowded and abusive, why would you expect orphanages to be any better? You think every person who wants a baby will be a good parent? You need a real wake up call.

-c There is already a shortage in proper education, at least in America, as well as a shortage in proper discipline- have you been to schools recently and seen how students act/are treated, and how little most care for their education? That can lead to nothing but ruin or poverty-level work for the majority of those uneducated. Just one example- we have too many kids, and not enough teachers and resources to focus on our children properly AND/OR to enforce discipline. Just 1 ex.

If you can draw an actual correlation between overpopulation and lack of education, I'll give a rebuttal. But all you're saying is "There aren't enough teachers, thus we are overpopulated". @ryddelwearsahat I sympathize with your story, and apologize for assuming you grew up in rich. But I'm a bit like you. I grew up with a family that lived in debt. I will not be getting any presents this year. We don't have a tree. My dad only recently moved in to our house because for most of my life he was an alcoholic.
Not trying to one-up you or anything, obviously my story doesn't one-up you at all, my point is I'm not some rich christian with a fancy car telling everyone how to live etc.

@ryddelwearsahat The World Food Programme says that there is actually enough food to feed everyone, the problem is essentially distribution isn't happening for a lists of reasons unrelated to overpopulation.
Not to mention our global fertility rate is decreasing. Right now it's at 2.45. It was 2.5 something like 4 months ago. 2.1 is enough to replenish the previous population.

Shall we investigate them for murder? If these pro-life women knew anything about pregnancies, they'd know that by the time they finished their own brood of children, they'd probably had a dozen spontaneous first-trimester abortions by then. Actually, you might find a better argument in favor of abortion from the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution. Here, the goal was to prevent minority groups from being denied their rights as enumerated in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. The language chosen was that all rights apply to those "born" or naturalized - thus US citizens. If it isn't yet born, it isn't yet a citizen, it doesn't yet get any rights (inalienable or otherwise).

Not sure how much more you want to know. Considering that the word "born" would somehow need to be replaced in the Constitution to make abortion illegal (barring some strange judicial interpretation), an amendment would need to happen.
This is not very likely as it would need to be passed by both houses of Congress (it could depending on who all has recently been elected), but then would need to be approved by 3/4 of the states, and there are at least 13 that would never do so. Choice will stay

They could indeed, though the same process to get a change that is exceptionally unlikely to happen would still need to be used.
On the tourists; they could leave and get an abortion elsewhere. Wealthy Americans could do the same - others would have to get by without or by dangerous methods performed illegally.
Also, conception can't be dated absolutely perfectly, so any attempt to prosecute someone under this change would have to determine the mother was in the US over an extended time period.
