  • I know how to do everything but my very meticulous professor has to be precise about labeling our graphs.

  • @CiaoBello21 nothing wrong with that

  • Im confused. How do you which kind of pi fraction to put on the x-axis when plotting the points?

  • @CiaoBello21 you use whatever makes sine / cosine easy to evaluate.

  • @patrickJMT As long as the period is shown at the end?

  • math exam tomorrow..

  • thx u saved me:)

  • I wonder if my math teacher ever stepped on a bear trap...

  • my math teacher cant teach. But as students, it is still our responsibility to learn the material. So after every lesson my teacher gives, my friends are stuck looking confused, so i just simply tell my friends to youtube the lesson and look for patrickJMT. Keep up the Great videos man!!!

  • @CorporatePilot7 thanks for recommending me : )

  • Thanks for the help!! Math final tomorrow :-/ Perhaps your next video should be geared towards teaching other professors how to do their job effectively!!

  • oh! found my new tutor

  • you are a life saver! i wish you were my teacher...i'd actually be passing math! :p

  • hey Patrick how does the asymptote of the inverse of cos, sin, functions change with transformations?

  • This One Man taught 73,000 students in this video alone! Amazing... Shows how bad public teachers are these days!

  • @drxfart it probably just shows how nice it is to have a resource at home

  • @patrickJMT no, drxfart is right :)

  • do u know how to solve liike sinx=0 on a ti89?

  • Can you make a video relating the unit circle to the graphs of trig functions.

  • @ggmm117 i have somewhere

  • You left out the phase shift.

  • what happened to part 2 aka, sin transformations

  • What about sec csc tan and cot transformations?

  • You are saving my life right now. Thank youuu

  • This is really immature, but the graphs look like funny boobies. XD

  • patrick. i love you. i made a 97 on my mid terms because of you

  • This is really helpful man! Thanks!

  • I wish I would have found this a week ago...oh well. Exam on Wednesday, watching this will help me prepare.

  • @MicroSamgg good luck on the exam

  • thank you...this is very helpful..

  • Thank you so much, i was sick for this lesson in trig, and tried looking at a friends notes, but was still very confused. This helped me out soooo much

  • Thanks! This is helping me study for my placement test

  • muchisimas gracias por su ayuda! you're awesome. ;)

  • I love you, thanks for helping us noobs

  • thank you for this. its really helpful

  • im having trouble with asymptotes and asymptote shifting.

can you make a video about that?

  • I just realized how bad of a teacher I have.

  • where have you been all of my trigonometry life!!! 0_0

  • can you show me how to graph this function: y=(cosx)square

  • After like 3 years you would think I could do this but I don't get it

  • How about phase shift? I love this video! but it would be more complete if you covered all of them!!

  • You are a life-saver. THANK YOU!

  • is this gcse level?

  • Why did I not see this video before?

My exam is on Wednesday and this video is going to help. Thank you :)

  • 1:28 BOOBIES!

  • You can't draw too well lol, but you get the point across great! Thanks for the vid!

  • mmmmm pie

  • Best Youtube Mathematician :) You're alot better than my university lecturer

  • I have a test tomorrow and now I feel really confident about it. Ur a beast

  • Thank you !!!!

  • video helped but math is still gunna kick my ass

  • Thanks! :)

  • i am doing an independent study in trigonometry and have been struggling with these concepts for a week, you have fixed that. thank you

  • Comment removed

  • @thinkinman123 ok, i misspoke - it happens.

  • @patrickJMT ok

  • @thinkinman123

if your focus from a 8.22 minute video was a trivial mistake like 2pi over pi is pi you need to grow up.

    @patrickJMT you are the best!

  • @patrickJMTfan ok dude whatever makes you happy

  • the -1 in this case is what the median is (in other words, the horizontal line), and instead of keeping that line at zero like you did (thus making you put the mid-height of the wave one unit below the x axis line), it is easier to just change that x-axis value to -1, so that mid-height point stays on the line.

  • you help soooo much :)

  • Wow, now I feel stupid for not getting this while in class haha thank you

  • YOU ARE THE BOMB!!!!!!! the mistake i was making was so simple i wish you were my professor for class!

  • The only reason I know how to do my homework is because of your videos, so thank you :)

  • @EREX94 u r very welcome : )

  • what if the amplitude is negative

  • @infizzable |a| amplitude is in absolute value.

  • So I pretty much understood in 2 minutes what I couldn't understand in three class periods. You sir, are a wizard.

  • @TheMooee mathemagician

  • i love you

  • @kookiesncreamx u r one of my favorite ice creams

  • wow ..even like and dislikes in this video correspond..123 likes 4 dislikes T_T..math is magical :P

  • what happen if there is number in front of y ex)1/3y=cos(x=pi/2)

  • Thank you so much!

  • @SearchingF5 hahaha

  • Dude, you just saved my math grade. THANK YOU.

  • 4 people work at barnes and nobles

  • it's really hard to trace where these replies below belong to..

  • Why do you use the PI 'notation' when you use trigonometric things? :S

  • @mepicalagallina thanks for the offer but....no.

  • how do u do phase shifts?

  • Please ask to become a partner, you deserve to be making at least some money because of this!

Thanks so much for the lessons.

  • @NotAboveAverage He would have to be a partner to have ads on his videos.

  • @aaronlosing Really? Wouldn't he have a graphic over his name above the videos? Well, I hope he get's paid for this. I watched his entire Trig playlist, and got a 75 and 80 on my trig test.

  • @NotAboveAverage He's a partner. Nice job on the tests.

  • OK, i have a question for patrick, why is this so important in my life? i wish i could see only english and liteture in school, but i need to freeking learn this. just make me understand if i can feel more motivated to learn and participate in class.

    thanx!

  • @Zuripanto100 short answer: it is probably not going to be important in your life (this particular stuff). however, logic skills and quantitative skills and problem solving skills are very useful. i was not at all interested in math in high school (and even the beginning of college). at the end of the day though, you have to get a job (unless you have a trust fund). english majors get jobs at barnes and nobles.

  • you make so much sense, holy jesus. THANK YOUUU

  • what if its cos 1/3? for the period?

  • @linkinparknaruto5555 what do you mean? as in that 1/3 is B? or that 1/3 is x?

  • @linkinparknaruto5555 The graph will expand, rather than get smaller. So it will be 3 times as long (I believe)

  • what if it's y=cos4x. what pi points do I use on the graph?

  • @goufranxoxo the horizontal points are calculated using:

Period: (2Pi / B)/4, this will give you your interval

    so 2Pi/4 = pi/2 = period period(Pi/2) / 4 = (pi/8)

then, given there is no phase shift, start at 0, and add your interval(pi/8) until you complete a cycle

    points: 0, (Pi/8), (Pi/4), (3Pi/8), (pi/2) ETC

If your final interval (pi/2) is equal to your period, you did it right!

    Good Luck!

  • The only class i hate this year. I don't hate the math, I hate the teacher.

  • why are you so smart?

  • @creamforkream cause i work hard

  • ah Grade 11 math.

  • I fail :(

8th grade might be to early

  • @cardsmaster12 most people do not take trig that soon

  • Man my teacher wasn't even here for this today, thanks man

  • Can you make another video about trig functions? Please? With tan, cot, csc, and cot maybe? And phase shifts? =\

  • hey, great video, can you make a video of finding equation from looking at a graph of it? because i cant find the horizontal shifts. Also finding the equation from word problems!! THANKS!

  • how did you know the amplitude is 1? O_O

  • @Kniitte the amplitude is 1 because it is 1cos(x), the 1 is understood. just like with anything, say you have x, it is understood that x=1x. Hope that makes sense.

  • I don't get what phase shift does...And no one has been able to give me a clear and straight forward answer and example...help me :(

  • Man you teach great, but I just hate trigonometry :(((((( but I have to learn it

    Thanks much for the lesson

  • genius. thanks

  • You... are... UNBELIEVEABLE!

    ahhh x.x

  • yay lefties! ;)

  • you are so much better at teaching than my teacher... i learned what my teacher took 1 hour to in 8 minutes... THANK YOU!!!

  • Hey, pat i have a test tommorow. But i'm struggling on how to transform a function back to its original form. I'm not sure if i explained it properly, but if the graph is already transformed and shown how do i retrace the coordinates and see the translations?

  • @FuryChaosMS Just remember, when the transformation is like sinx + 1, the middle line will be y=+1 (along the x line ) forms the middle part (the amplitude).

Example, y=sinx is sinx+0 right? So the line zero splits the sine graph into two, the upper curve and the sownward curve.(the amplitude)

  • This is just great. I have a chance of passing my exam tomorrow. Big thanks! :)

  • @cruiserai good luck!!

  • you saved my life

  • thanks so much. this thing has been taught by my teachers since middle school and it's the first time i actually understood it. thanks!

  • i simply respect u man :) u should be proud of urself :) cheers

  • thank you soo much for this its REALLY HELPFUL ! =)

  • THANK YOU !!!

  • Thank you for this video. :).

  • u should be a teacher

  • @x6xk1LLx9x he is

  • why did you have to write period in red >_< nasty thoughts distract from maths

  • can you also explain what makes the graph shift? I think my teacher mentioned something about that as well...

  • I got my first C ever this year in Pre-Calculus and it brought my 3.8 gpa down. I'm so happy that I found your videos; I'm aiming for a B this quarter and these will help! Thank you so so much. My teacher never helps me because she is also involved in National Honor Society and sometimes that stupid club takes up our class time.

  • Hello, I was wondering if you have videos explaining how to do these types of problems with B as a fraction (ex. 5pi over 6, x over 2+3pi over 4, etc.) If you could make a video on those that would be great.

  • Thank you so much for making this video! You just saved me from getting a zero on my algebra homework due tomorrow!

  • Thank you so much, this video was great :-)

  • hey

thankz i thought it gud for my last min revesion, it was lot of help

  • thanks man!! finally becoming clear

  • i just wanted to say, that you're awesome. thank you muchooooo!

  • dude ty!!! omg i was lost and im its all clear!! =]!! ftw

  • you are pure genius

  • superrrbbbb!!!

  • SOO clear! thankyou x3498534!

  • YOU ARE SO HELPFUL. LOVE IT

  • Why the youtube teacher are so good and the school teachers are so bad?

    Why? Why? Why?

  • @PinkyFromPK der is no answer 4 it!hehe..

  • @PinkyFromPK because school teachers wants you to fail so that they can earn more money teaching you slower on summer break ,

  • @TheElmuro lol, ya, that's it. you probably believe that to be true

  • @PinkyFromPK cause i am on youtube and not in school.

  • @PinkyFromPK i freakin agree!!!!! ahahah

  • Thank you so much I have been trying to figure out what the period does to the function. My professor teaches at a PHD level it is so hard to figure it out and he makes so many mistakes too its so frustrating. Without these online youtube help I would never be able to get through Trigonometry and Pre Calculus.

  • Finally, someone who knows how to explain math! Thank you!

  • I finally understand transformations now. Thank you so much, Patrick! This is going to help me on my test tomorrow :)

  • GOD! Patrick! I just wanna hug you lol

    thanks alot!

  • isnt the equation

    y=Acos(Bx-C)+D

  • they're just variables, doesnt really matter

isnt that what the calculator says???

  • Is there a Part Two??? :-/

  • this is tight

  • THANK YOU!

  • VERY HELPFUL. Thanks so much!

  • I was spazzing out so bad about this stuff and then I watched your video and it helped me SOOO much.

    thank youuuu :D

  • You're wearing a wedding ring... :'-(

  • IAWTCSM

  • hahaha, yep!

  • Excellent video, I learned all the info in 1 day and got an A on my quiz! Thanks.

You might want to fix the title of the video, it says Grahing, not Graphing.

  • every month my period is 2pi LOL

  • Sorry, but i really didn't get this

  • i forgive you

  • LOL

  • Lmao.

  • is there one on tangent functions??

    please make one on these,

i really really suck at them ^^

    thanks!

  • good job mate

  • Thanks. Maths IB student in the UK. This was great thanks!

  • hey man, THank you so much... i got everything concerning graphing cosine, which i always had touble with.

Thanks again and keep it up :D

  • My teacher cant teach for shit, but I understood so muc watching this video. thanks

  • HEY! Help please! What if the AMPLITUDE is 1/2? Where should I put the dot thingy, and start the curvy lines? Thanks in advance!

  • nice work its helping me too

  • this really helped me understand vertical stretching, nice vid

  • You helped me big time, thanks.
