  • You have a good voice, but what I want to comment on is your physicality. Make sure that when you are on stage (or in film, for that matter) your movements look natural and not planned, because the audience can spot that. Other than that, good job.

  • I wish people understood the difference between a performance during dress & a full-out show. Especially for a dress, your vocal was amazing. The tonal quality of your voice is perfect for a large production number like this. I disagree with others on the comments about both voice and annunciation, it was quite clear. I do think the physical movements in acting out the part were a bit over the top. But as you said, this was a dress.

All I can say is that I am glad you posted this; well done.

  • This is one of my favourite songs - I quite liked your performance. :o) @Arielle92B made some good comments.

  • You have a great voice, but you need to work on your acting for a professional presentation, voice is not enough, and I tell you this as a pro. Watch Cuccioli do this tune. He is outstanding, and it could be argued that you have a better voice, but see how organic his acting is, and how relaxed he is. Nothing seems planned, because through training, it comes to you as you perform and does not need to be planned. You want it to seem new and immediate. Good luck brother.

  • Couldn't agree more with @mikegregmike

Your speech impediment can't be helped and it doesn't seem to effect your singing that much.

  • Very good stage lighting.

  • Very nice, man. Vocally you did wonderful. Go back and watch how Bob C. uses few

hand gestures. The lyrics make the emphasis.

  • Impressive vocals - keep up the good work there. Just enunciate a tiny bit more in the future since the mike can only pick up so much and everything tends to get a little fuzzy in the back of the theater. You also don't need to try to act out all of the emotional swells of the song - just let the song speak for itself. Fantastic effort, really. Don't quit the theater! :)

  • The lyrics speak for themselves. Very little stage dramatics are needed. Cuccioli knew this.

  • Maybe English isn't his first language? I think he has nice tone and he was on pitch throughout the song. If you listen to Keith Jack who is from Scotland there are words that are not perfect, but I think it's great to hear others take of the song. I just love this song so I don't really listen to inflections but rather the message of the song, but I will defend your right to comment because you did it with taste. They're constructive feedback and yours was

  • alright Josh, well sung mate, stumbled across this whilst looking for this song on youtube.

    Dave from VOT x

  • great voice, your hand actions look abit too staged though, but wow nice voice :)

  • I recorded this song too! Hope you also like it!

  • this is really good. You do have to work on annunciation, but it sounded great even without belting. I think it needed to be a bit more forceful in gesture and in purpose. He's angry at everyone he's going to prove wrong. And watch your singer's hands, Sometimes when you reach for your high notes you put your hand on you tummy.

But it was great. One of the best i've seen that wasn't Anthony Marlow.

  • Well done that was a fantastic performance :) There are always things to improve upon but you have a beautiful voice. Keep it up!! :)

  • some of the notes were a bit under and your phasing was a bit stop start but otherwise it was great, remember to use your support especially on the high notes, visualise that you are comeing down to the note instead of reaching up to it and try to make some of the phrasing a little more legato unless of course that is what the MD wanted. Great Performance Though

  • Ditto Markman

  • @MGZuniga ;) markman had some good comments

  • you have a beautiful voice!!!

this is acting, man. you're a beast! kudos, man. kudos.

  • well done mate just great a real west end performance

  • agreed markman

  • contrary to what u say markman, i believe that he did a great job. i think that tho he does stop movement when his phrases end, it somewhat suits it. some actions did seem awkward/uncomfortable. its really just a case of focusing to much on his actions and not on his voice. but still a great performance!!!

  • i think he did pretty well starting off... and then i realized that his acting is a bit sketchy... awkward really and a lot of his phrases stop when he is singing and his movements stop with them... this just makes it uncomfortable for the audience when they are listening to it also it sounds as though u have a speech impediment at the end saying... "mis is the moment... mis is day or never....moment for moment... miss was da moment"... just work on that bud itll be better

  • Thanks for your comment! Always nice to have constructive feedback, its the only way to improve. I just wish some people would understand the difference between feedback and slander.

  • @Aracind nah dude he is right ... i dont know why you have frickin 55,000 views hahah thats gayyy.... check out other versions ;)

  • OMG Your like the best Hyde i have ever seen!!! Wonderful Job...totally subbing NOW!

  • wow not bad!!! i'm impressed. you have lovely voice mr man.

  • i was in this as nellie! i had so much fun with it

  • hey!!! i did this play when i was 14, its sooo fun to sing .. ill try and get it up

  • Impressive.

  • this is by a clear mile better than david hasselhoff's version....

  • This is alot better than just a mile. this guy has an incredible voice on him. just watch all of his other videos.

  • agreed!

  • Hey thanks for the lovely comment... only noticed it now =D

  • hey! would you consider coming to my highschool and being Sky Masterson for Guys and Dolls. My Sky is a dick head.

  • Really nice mate. Fantastic vocals.

  • You have this detailed version of THIS IS THE MOMENT so do you have a close up version of TRANSFORMATION as well?

  • Mate that was quality. Seriously. Fucking impressive. Well done!

  • Better than Hasselhoff [which is not saying much. lol.] Still very good.

But don't copy his bad acting!

  • Cheers for that! This was the dress and the place was empty so perhaps it did effect it, hopefully my other videos will satisfy you.

  • You have a nice voice, but this was a very square interpretation. Rather than phrasing and emotion, it sounded like you were focusing on your vowels. All in all, good performance. You'll get better and better as you get older.

  • God. I mean /God/ you can sing.

  • Mate, this was actually amazing... Well enjoyed it :D Keep 'em coming.

  • oh and i forgot to mention:

i fucking hate your wigs, man.

    :)

  • yo josh it's fran again lol. just checking you;re still alert to your comments;)

    ok well here's my bit:

you're just too good!!! get back to guildford and stop smoking:P

    little shitbag you.

    awesome song.

    ps.s i;m drunk.

    xxx

  • move around more!

  • kind of boring. Just stood there

  • Would you rather me do a handstand next time?

  • Really enjoyed this!!!

  • Well done! Thank you! Keep up the great work.

  • Very nicely done! I am a huge fan of the show and this just made my fandom bigger. Is that a word? fandom? well too bad. it is now. But anyways, very well done. This is one of my favorite songs, I'm actually performing it at my hs graduation party in a couple months. I have been working with a vocal coach, dang. not and easy song. Very good. Bravo!

  • its fanness i think

    o btw dude luv it

o and u kinda make weard faces when u sing

but that's better that my friend... when he sings this, the vein in his neck bulges out! weerd right

    kthnxbai!

  • I see you are delivering the performance in a way in which the character finally comes to a point where he is starting to believe in his self and that HE in fact could be brilliant!!! I was not thinking and please accept my sincere and genuine apologies!!!!

  • Give the man a chance, he is a true performer , but you are a true arrogant, insensitive ,, eh shit bag

  • ya totally!

  • Dear Aracind, Please forgive the disgusting manner in which I spoke to you last. I know it is no excuse but i had a bad day and took it out on youtube. You were right I should have been more constructive in my criticsm. You have a very attractive voice, but i just found I was loosing some vowel sounds. I found the acting was a little too dramatic for me but I can understand your approach as it is a very dramatic piece. With regards to you thinking you are brilliant I was wrong.........

  • I disagree with everyone. I think his vowel sounds are extremely off! He looks very uncomfortable in the character. OH I THINK I'LL THROW MY ARMS AROUND BECAUSE I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. He also thinks he's brilliant or else he would be drawing me in. He is too much for himself and not offering the audience anything. I can tell you from a professional point of view. HE IS NOT BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!

  • Well that was a rather rude and also self-indulgent comment. I am the actor in the video, so I think I have the right to express my feelings over your harsh comment.

#1 I'm really sorry my VOWELS are not up to your standard. I will try harder in the future.

#2 I was emailing Robert Cuccioli at the time and he gave me help with the character. So I'll just email him back and say that you disagree with his advice.

  • #3 I do NOT think I'm brilliant, I am however stable in working in a professional environment. Also I am studying at The Guildford School of Acting, which is one of the top conservatoires in the country.

#4 You are entitled to your opinion but perhaps next time you should hold back your vile manner and offer some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.

#5 I'd like to see your performance of the song and character.

  • I agree with you! you did an awsome job! and i would also like to see that guy sing and act Dr. Jekyll. I bet he can't! but constructive criticism is a very good way to improve! i think you did awsome! and don't pay any attention to him, you were awsome!!! i love your voice!!! :)

  • Despite the fact that his mouth is nice and open, and very well rounded. This is one of the best versions on youtube DEFINITELY, if you don't think so than you don't know what you're talking about.

  • I get the feeling his arms have Tourettes Syndrome :p kick-ass voice though :D

  • hey!!! your really good!!! im amazed!!! well done!!! im glad u put this on here!!! its sooooooooo good!!! well done leah for forcing heim to put it on here!!!

  • Your voice is amazing!!! I'm speechless! There's nothing else to say!

  • This sounds transposed down.

  • Probably is. I sing this and have to take it down a key to make the end singable... Oh well lovely voice and good facial expression.

  • PLEASE CHECKOUT MY VERSION OF THIS SONG.

    I WOULD LOVE YOUR OPINIONS.

    regards dave

  • Same here. Cant go too high or I loose pitch completly.

  • Well for some people it is pretty high at the end. Even the best have to transpose down (Michael Ball - Love Changes everything - down a tone in the recordings on cds :P)

  • your singings great, and yes the little criticism is over acting, like jmusicmanosu, but ure on stage expressing quite an emotional song, so you cant necessarily help but over act part of it, but its a good performance well done

  • your face looks so young that your voice startled me! Great. although not at all the make up job I would have done on you. But beautiful. strange flitty hand motions though... hmmm ;)

  • brilliant:)

altho, are your biceps sewn to your ribs?

    hehe.

    thats my ONLY critcism=]

you were great, and i'm sick to death of bloody saying it.

    x

  • I'm missing some passion in his play. He sings good, but he acts strange too quite.

Check out the video from Vienna with Thomas Borchert he puts more momentum in the songs. "Dies ist die Stunde" is the song in german.

  • Excellent performance! And I really like the key it's in, even though it's lower than the song is usually performed.

  • I liked it. Please post more!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!! its one of those songs were if you have an ounce of musicla talent you can sound like the most amasing thing sense canned cheese!! gorgeous!

  • well, it kicks hassehoff's ass anyday.

  • Great!!!!

in brazil we have a brilahnt singer that sing this music, Saulo Vasconcelos, he did make Phanton of the opera, beauty and the beast, Aida, and others musicals, but this version in very good

    you sung so much!!!

    thaks by post this

    bye

  • wow! I love listening to your voice!! I can't wait to see you on broadway someday!

  • Not that impressive. Kinda just standing there. Could do more.

  • well i thought he was great! well done dude!

  • that was the point in the musical

  • Actually during this song Jekyll moves, instead of just sitting there.

  • right, the whole moving around thing just never happened then?

maybe my eyes just played a trick on me when he moved across stage

  • Beautiful

  • hey, this is reli good- ur voice is very strong. u reli suit this style of song. further vocal work will help you improve so keep on going and u will b amasing

  • Not being critical, and not even a but. Just check-out Anthony Warlow and his version of This Is The Moment.

  • Yes I know - Anthony Warlow is god at this role. I was 17 when I did this role so obviously I don't have as much experience and training as him if thats what your referencing. This is my version of the song and not Warlow's.

  • Ara - Very good! As we all have done, keep working hard,,,it will work-out

    UBB

  • i think it sounds great ur ability to project is stunning and ur facial expressions really sold it for me

  • you do well with it...i dont like the baritone arrangement...but yes, u do well with it vocally...i agree with previous posters, u are rather stiff and you look down a lot, maybe at the conductor for cues? you do well with it, but i would consider your character's motives in this song more...

  • I was impressed by your voice. The baritone part fit your range perfectly. As a fellow bari, I applaud your vocal handle on this particular song. Only thing I would change is you're stiff movements. I thought maybe you were a little unsure what to do with your limbs. Don't worry, I have the same problem. My arms usually get in the way as well in these cases.

    in the end though? Awesome.

  • You did so good! I dont know what all thses faggots problems are. Im a bass and I sing this with the tenor part, but this is just as amazing

  • Chills my man! I would love to hear you do Dangerous Game!

  • correct me if iam wrong but is this role consider baritenor? still one of the greatest male roles in musical theater no matter what vocal part it is=]

  • you have a good voice for having the script you got having this song lowered to a baritone range, every other version has this song written as a tenor part. The sound quality when you walk down to the lab became awful because the orchestra begins to over power you. they were also not that great performance wise.

  • really good! we sang this song in choir last year for the seniors that were graduating!

  • was this brought down a few tones? .. it sounded low to me.. damn man, if you can't sing tenor don't fake it

  • No it was the score we were sent, this is a baritone role, not a tenor. Check Wikipedia. =] thanks for your no brainer comment.

  • Damn right. It is a baritone part...you did just fine.

  • OMIGOD! You're freakin' amazing!

  • This is very well done. As far as I can tell, your voice is superb. And yes if anything needs to be perfected it is your movements. They seemed too stiff. But other than that, great job. Thank you for sharing.

  • this is good, but i prefer when sebastian sings it

  • Bien cantado pero.... parece muñequito de cuerda, es muy frio no trasmite nada, actoralmente no me gusto.

  • pretty good! your movement could have been more organic at times (+the set was awesome; I would have liked to see you use it more!). Also, the energy seemed to plateau - the thought progression in this song can be a little elusive, since the lyrics are quite repetitive, but it is there - give each vocal swell a REASON.

    but overall quite nice.

  • VERY NICE!!! Love your voice!

  • Mediocre at best.

  • But your performance of confrontation is really good :)

  • Nice voice but i dont like the performance

  • One of my favorites! Good job :D

  • Great job. Truly. I want to disagree with those that denegrate Hasselhoff. He is a slightly above average singer (not so godd as you, clearly), but with his version of Hyde, he has opened some otherwise closed eyes to the wonder of the stage musical. Great job! I only wish you had emoted more on "I stand forever with the gods" line. Did I mention you were great? Yeah, you were.

  • excellent

  • down from the stage with david hasselhoff and up with you ^^

  • lol thanks so much. I hate that damn Hasselhoff

  • fantastic, handsome lad

  • amazing job..i loved transformation

  • amazing!!!!!!! shivers!!!

  • go joshy fabtanbulos

  • My favorite song from the musical~~

I made a piano version of this song.

    Come to my box~~

  • your voice is amazing. but if you dont mind i have one constructive critique to give you. your voice is so powerful that your facial expressions and your gestures seem not as...emphatic i guess. but im not saying your not great. cause i think your performance was incredible.

  • Ah thanks for your criticsim. Will take that into mind next time. A bit more... facial expression? lol

  • You've got lovely, warm voice. I love that song, and you did it so well. Thank you for posting this.

  • One word - stunning!

  • Ah thanks Bob! Its always nice to have a friend see the stuff you do.

  • You have a pristine voice! I am more fond of hearing lead males sing deeper parts and not high tenor. You should take this proffesional, don't waste it, God has blessed you!

  • You do have a great voice. Great natural talent! Only one thing from me. Some work on supporting the higher notes, and opening up into your head voice may help with your high notes. :)

  • You are AMAZING! Where is this? I want to get into Musical Theatre but I don't know a teen Musical Theatre Company. I live in Chicago. But GREAT JOB... you are fantastic

  • Very very good! Sounds slightly hurried during the 3rd quater of the song though, but that's the only thing I can find to complain about. You're really great, man!

  • Sorry, last comment: you are very, very talented. great voice, great acting

  • Very good! Beautiful song.

  • Why can't my theatre company do shows like this?

you get Jekyll & Hyde and we Get High School the Muscial =D

  • I HATE High School Musical - with a passion!

  • I agree. Maybe there should be a club.

But you have a magnificent voice. I only wish that there were some actors like you in my theater company. I'm definately gonna watch your other videos.

  • ive been to nearly every show u lot have done this has to be the best one!!!!!!!!!!! well done man!!!!!!! ur awsome

  • Very nice job again. Your voice was seriously made for this role.

  • Wow, your good. *hugs* How long have you been in Jekyll and Hyde?! Lucky. Its my favorite show! um..... anyway, I was watching the Confrontation scene with Hyde in it. and it seems to me it looked tiring.

  • Oh yes it did indeedy! lol I did the show only for a week, my company do different shows throughout the year, normally a variety production then a major one. We're doing Sweeney Todd next.

  • Sweeney Todd? Wow. That's a difficult show to do. A lot of hard parts to cast, mainly the Beadle, Pirelli, and Johanna. And you need a good actor and deep voice for Sweeney of course.

  • we've just done sweeneytodd, was absolutely fantastic, one of the best productions we have done, good luck with it, it is fantastic, check out walmsleychurchAODS on google and search for sweeney of you wish to see, no films on there though im afraid, but proof of all our hard work and the awards we won. good luck with such a difficult, its hard to cover a sondheim show, but sweeney especially, cannot wait to see a vid of this! best wishes!

  • Gonna leave another...

In all your videos I can't help but wonder are you trying to throw in an accent when you sing? Your "e-r" turn into "a-h". Were you doing that on purpose. Another question... Did you learn from a cd, because I can't help but wondering if you are trying to mimic the singers you listen to. I have the same problem if that is what you are doing. But out of all the vids you have posted, I feel your best one was J&H Confrontation.

  • K, now I feel silly because you are british. Who would have thought...

  • Yes thats why, and as far as breathing goes, I've been trained how to breath well, how to take in breath and hold it for as long as much lungs can contain and use my diaphragm with it. But at the same time, its musical theatre... you breath anywhere you want lol (joke)

  • nice job:D

by the way, are you doing this with a band?

  • Yes orchestra. 14 piece I believe

  • dude......i keep watching you sing these difficult songs with a bit of hesitation, nervous you might say. And with every viewing of each video, I am completly blown away your performances.

If I had a note, it would be to hole your notes a bit longer sometimes...you've the voice!! Let It Ring!!

  • Agreed. How is your breathing technique?

  • ya got "dangerous game" mate? love that song!
