my grandmother's prosthetic eye was like an entire eye. She had a plunger type thing for removal. It never bother me or my siblings when she cleaned it...I guess we were use to it.

about the detached retina, i think it was due to the blood pressure in your eyes at the point when u were giving birth. (one reason why u should not keep the eyes shut when u're pushing/lifting weights, or w/e)
