@drotis He played him as an obscure figure - excentric, yet mysterious and gentle, similiar to Schiele's self portrayals. I can't really figure out what role he plays in the movie, his existence is rather decorating, entwining.
This film has sumptious cinematography, Emilie Floge, Klimt look convincing but strange script. Makes out Klimt dies of a syphillitic fever in hospital instead of a stroke in his flat! Felt disaapointed that all his genius wasn't explored more...... I could go on!
He had a stroke, but died of pneumonia, and I suppose the hollywood moral of making out he had syphillis was to tell us all that decadence is bad for you!
Klimt was more than this film, just as Modigliani was not just Andy Garcia.
Movies of artists are always dissappointing in the life is more important.
Klimt said if you want to know me look closely at my paintings
@walkingbear56 the film was quite a disappointment. although the actors played well, although the shots were innovative and although women were beautiful, I believe that this film is a disgrace to Klimt's name. They present him as a lunatic womanizer in a circle of lunatics. They also mixed his paintings from different periods. I was expecting to see sth more of a documentary perhaps :( They didn't show the tenderness and the fear he showed and had for women, they didn't show his passion ...
anyone seen this, comments on kinski's performance? what role does he play in the film as schiele. what's the portrayal liker? thanks.

Look at the hairline!
Nikolai Kinski would make me laugh, 'cause he looks just like a carbon copy of Schiele!! Obrigado.
