It's 3 years old and the antivirus that came with it has expired and so no scans have been done. And you kids love to download all that music etc. he has to go into safe mode and run some spyware. i went to watch a movie online and had to install some program it was unknown and it screwed it up (15 minutes ago)

so i got to avg8 and click scan whole computer, i go to the virus vault 10 minutes ago and clicked empty vault.

first with any infection you should turn off system restore boot to safe mode scan then go fron there if that doesnt work reformat also try dissableing it in services.msc

I had a calender.. I think it depends on when you attempt the system-restore. I tried it about half an hour after infection and I can't see any problems now! But if you can't do a restore, then I think everyone-else has posted a solution..

Go to task manger, kill whatever process it uses, go to program files if it's there, remove the program to the recycle bin. if that doesn't work disable system restore boot in safe mode and remove using above steps OR remove using any antivirus you have.

Here's what i did i hope it helps you

1.Download avast 4.8 home edition form download(dot)com

2.got to program files and delete the folder called rch71hj0ep6e this is the folder antivirus xp has created.

3.unceck antivirus xp from the startup items in msconfig. it will be called rch71hj0ep6e.

4.remove antivirus from add/remove progs and from start menu.

5.end it process in task manager again it will be called rch71hj0ep6e
