  • DR. Smith, leave that little boy alone, you pedophile bastard!!!!!

  • I agree Mr. BlakesLiberator, the person Mr. Harris was bringing us was an awful pain in everyones, not just the Jupiter 2,s crew,s butt. Sort of like the "Frank Burns" of his day albeit in a totally different setting. I was a bit let down in those days when they turned a good idea into a kiddie show. It might have turned out like another trekkie type show if they had stayed serious. But maybe the sillier story lines were easier to do.

  • @galaxybeing101 The same thing happened with Filmation's Flash Gordon in the early 80's. It was a good scifi cartoon but they became silly in the end.

  • Jonathan Harris deserves acclaim for his work on Lost In Space. Jerry Sandusky needs a "firing squad" , hung by a certain area of his body or used as lunch for "Jaws" offspring. kudos for Mr. Harris, a long walk off a short pier for Jerry.

  • @galaxybeing101

I'm inclined to agree, re Harris.

Whilst I didn't much like the character (although, there were a few times you could just about manage to), Jonathon Harris was, in my opinion, by far the best actor in the series and well chosen for the part.

    "The pain...The pain..."

  • Awesome theme music

  • Dr. Smith WAS a bad guy like in the movie....not just snively....this was turned from a serious attempt at Sci-Fi into a campy kid's show...Just so happens I was a kid then.....

  • I like this show (got the DVD box set)

  • @boosterjonesable

I've only got he whole series in VHS.

But, I wish they would colorize the first season, like they did with 'Bewitched'.

  • That's funny...the robot replica at :25 is mine. I built it in 1998 and that picture was taken at MacWorld San Francisco in 1999.

  • I still have a crush on Billy Mumy and I'm getting there, age-wise.

  • Jonathan Harris......

    Jerry Sandusky.....

    hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  • Loved this when I was a kid back in the 60's

    Thanks!

  • Nice. miss The Sahow so bed- Check out Boomerang On Tv. the only Channel i Know That Has It.

  • The brass, bouncing time signature, along with the early use of the synthesizer, makes this one of the best--often overlooked--opening themes of that period.

  • One of the greatest shows of all time. It has brought joy, humor and mystery into my life since I was young. I honestly hope the universe will be like the series--semi-campy--whenever we make it out there (Irwin Allen was a cheap skate, but we overlook this). It's be BIG disapointment if it wasn't. Dr. Smith is one of the most masterful characters in TV History. Half villain/half drama queen. Jonathan Smith was a genius--he drew comic/villian nuance from every word.

  • I can't believe that this was one of my favorite shows! I was in 1st grade at the time.

  • Thumbs up if you wanted to shoot Dr. Smith back then.

  • @Wellch YEA they should have shot Dr Smith or done something with him.. I was 9 yrs old when this 1st came out

  • The best space show ever created.

  • You bubble headed booby.

  • oh the pain

  • "...spare me you cackling coward of a robot!!"

  • you mechanical miscreant...!!!!......oh the pain the pain...!!

  • this is the best tv show ever.........thumbs up if you agree

  • I can't believe the actual opening sequence isn't on Youtube. Fuckin' Youtube wasters. I'm downloading a 4-day torrent to show this to the new digital generation the way it was meant to be seen!

  • Was my favorite it's first season. Then the story had the same plot for every episodes and the aliens became so dumb.

  • At the :38 mark, It looks like June Lockark left hand is on Bill Mumy penis.

  • I wouldn't have wanted to be Will Robinson and gone on any nature hikes with Dr. Smith. It would have been like being a space age Alter Boy. Ouch!

  • where is the other theme?

  • They should have shot Doctor Smith dead during the series. Ratings could have go up higher if that happened.

  • @Wellch Dr. Smith was one of the finest villains in Sunday morning TV between 1960 and 1995 when they stopped showing it.

  • @Oobervice It would have been difficult for Dr Smith to be around in 1960. Lost in Space first went to air in the USA in September 1965 :-)

  • I like this better than the John Williams version used in later seasons.

  • help will , help ! we have 12 dislikes .

    12 persons don't fear , smith is here ☺

  • lost in space premier episode was the best hour of sci-fi ever made. The theme song for the first season was much more out of this world than what replaced it. Yeah after the first 4-5 episodes it went down hill fast as did the theme.

At the time the budget was what they were putting into films at least initially.

Second best hour of sci-fi was The Time Tunnel. Then came episodes of Outer Limits, twilight zone and star trek.

  • every Wednesday night on cbs 8:30 never missed it

  • NOT the greatest SCi-Fi ever, it was a cheap attempt at Sci fi and got worse each season.

  • This is the first, "quirky" theme of the series. The later "groovy" theme was by John(ny) Williams, whom you may have heard in a few other movies.

  • @RaineStudio Yes, his name is familiar....

  • @RaineStudio Both themes were by John Williams. He was known as Johnny Williams for at least series one

  • 音楽はあのジョンウィリアムズで以降のアーウィンアレン政策のシリーズもほとんど彼です

  • You can get them from hulu. They also have the series at borders. It's hulu.com It 's still free in usa. I think. Lost in Space Rocks!

  • I liked the show. Though it was a bit wacky. But the second theme song on this show was much better.

  • Gees, guys, this was a stupid show. I watched it every week, yes, but that was probably because Bill Mumy is a good actor. And I liked the robot.

  • Robot: Doctor Smith...you are a lazy, greedy schemer.

Smith: Go away, you Clattering Contraption!

  • Makes me happy x

  • A complete list of all the insults that Dr. Smith dumped on Robot B9

    doubleyoudoubleyoudoubleyou.bellaonlinedotcom/articles/art3316.asp

had to use the "doubleyou" and "dotcom" in the link to get it to post

  • @jrocco36 LIES! This is nothing but a link to some sort of website for WOMEN! No Lost in Space content what so ever! SPAMMER!

  • @Berus7777 LIES???? Spammer???? you dont even know me... dude its just an old crappy tv show no need to get all fired up over it..and at the time i posted it, it was ligit.. I do not spam. I guess the page has gone but thats where it was.. Sorry for any inconvenience..

  • "Now come along with me, you bumbling booby!"

  • @visor109

Hi I forgot about sarcastic Dr. Smith. I'm gonna start using that line w/my hubby now. (smile)

  • @visor109 : What else would you hear from a homosexual allowed to mind children !

  • @MusicPredominates What are you saying?, my god, surely you are not suggesting Dr Smith likes entry through the back door.

  • @jibjab351 : Please do not blaspheme ! But Yes. Dr. Smith / the actor playing Dr. Smith was and is a homosexual !

  • @jibjab351 : Hey Boss. Look at the comments below.

  • @visor109 Shit ! , I haven`t heard THAT in YEARS,lol.

  • Trippy and freaky lol!

  • I'm sorry, but I have to:

    DANGER, WILL ROBINSON, DANGER!

  • I loved Lost in Space.Oh what brilliant memories this brings back

  • Well, hello! My mechanical friend!!!! Never fear! Smith - is here!

  • @spndxboi No...it's John Williams...he was credited as Johnny however.

  • Mr Moon Alien Like this!

  • I like the other intro better! this was the second one!

  • @georgesorosisgay Actually this was the first one, used in seasons one and two.

  • I liked when Dr. Smith reacted in concern when he had programmed the robot to execute the Robinsons one by one, and then learned the robot was in the vicinity of Will. That was the moment he snapped being the total villain.

  • I liked the Season 3 theme better.

  • Mi programa favorita de niña. Inolvidable

  • THis is the theme I remember...love it. x

  • Sorry about that last post, My computer hates me!

  • lOST IN sPACE ROCKS! i NEED MORE STUFF FROM THE SERIES111

  • When I was a little girl I played the trumpet. I always wanted to learn how to play this song and I still do. Before I die I will

  • LMAO just looked this up because of family guy xD

  • @HappyCaddy OMG i just did too! LOL

  • @HappyCaddy hahahaha me too!

  • @HappyCaddy YAY!! And me!

  • @Darryl ...disgusting

  • DR..SMITH...loved to play with wills dick...

  • I grew up with this show, Dr Smith is one of my all time fave TV characters

  • Best Lost in space intro..very underrated show!

  • @prausch65 I use to watch this everyday as a kid, and it was old back then.

  • Season 1 of Lost in Space should be Colorized. It would be Mint in Color.

  • @Roadracer987654321 I disagree..the TV shows prior to '65 were mostly in black and white, which is part of television history...they were meant to be in B/w.

  • Ah, yes. John Williams at his finest.

  • 'That does not compute.'

This show thrilled my young imagination.

There was Robbie the Robot, but I especially loved the idea of a "force field".

  • Dr. Smith improved my vocabulary with all those names he called the robot.

I absolutely LOVED this show when I was 5 and 6 years old! One of the greatest of all time! Great music too!

  • Not the best, But pretty dam good

  • Man, this brings me back. One of the best television show intro songs ever. I missed the days when they used to make TV show music unique. Now everything sounds like something you'd hear on the Top 40 dance hits on the radio - TV intros are just not unique sounding anymore; that all ending in the 80's (perhaps, very early 90's). Shameful.

  • I loved this show when I was a kid the one that scared me the most I was about 9 yrs old was when they did the episode called the mask and John Robinson had the mask on and was leading Will to through him off the cliff or down a dark hole in a cave

  • they'e playing year 2, but showing year 3

  • Who's John Williams??

  • @oozd He composed the film scores of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jaws, Jurassic Park, plus others. An impressive resume.

  • @oozd John Williams is the genius behind the Jaws theme and the Indiana Jones them as well as The Imperial March theme in Star Wars. Have a listen you will Immediately recognize all of them.

  • So Alexander Courage wrote this, but did John Williams conduct out there at Fox for what we're hearing right now?

  • that does not compute

  • I used to LOVE this in reruns when I was little. My favorite person was Will and the Robot.

  • Ahh! More pictures of Angela Cartwright please!!

  • It was a one minute great thema that marked us for ever!

  • love lost in space I use to have it back home where I was born.We only had 2 or 3 channels so we could not pick what we had to watch.

  • No, I did not know that John Williams composed this theme. Thanks for sharing

  • Actually - it's credited to "Johnny Williams" ;-)

  • When I first started seeing Lost in Space(at age 10/11)my favorite female cast member was Angela Cartwright(Penny),but the older I got the more I liked Marta Kristen(Judy).

There was definite character development in Lost in Space.Unfortunately,Dr.Smith developed from a villain to a jerk.

  • I´ve always loved this TV show! We miss it in Brazil!

  • I am the robot

  • I was born in...well the name says all

  • I was born in the 1990's but I loved this show! the movie sucks! I'm goanna make a remake of and bring back the popluation of Lost In Space. They'll see!

  • Oh! the pain, the pain

  • ha ha ha! dr. smith must've been the first gay man on television.

  • @26Deacon

Yes, you are right - Jonathan Harris played Dr Smith as a very camp man in this role, but in real life Harris was married with a son.

  • They had the best TV shows back then. That is why we call them classics.

  • Danger! Danger! Danger! Will Robinson!

  • I never realized that the Star Trek theme song was based on this. This in turn seems to be based on the original Doctor Who theme song (from 1961).

  • What made the addams family better then the munsters was the addams family was about a bunch of people who were crazy but the munsters come on

  • it brings back the old days

  • Any tv show that started in black and white, and then changed to color, was cool. Too bad the Munsters weren't able to make the leap.

  • bite your toung bitch! black and white is what made munsters cool! i would have made the movie in black and white in the 90's .the adams family too

  • Watch TVShows like Lost in Space Theme at W W W . TV-Vide . NET

  • never missed it every wendsday 830 on cbs 2

  • This is a notable tune, but I liked the later version better.

  • At the time of this series..Couldnt they have made Dr.Smith any more evil than the coward he turned out to be>>>

  • this was my number one favorite program as a kid.

  • did they ever get back to earth?

  • @londoniran

    yes

  • Why cant I find any episodes of this show on youtube? It would bring back some memories.

  • Great whimsical theme using tubas, I think?

  • you might be right there, the prophet20. i always thought it was double basses played with a bow (especially that little run down at 0:35) but it could well be tubas

  • Had a major crush on Penny )

  • I gotta say, I prefer the other version.

  • This was my favorite version of this theme.

  • Didn't the theme get revised later?

  • the old mans eyes use to scare the shit outta me

  • One of the great TV themes , & the fact that it's by John Williams is insanely great.

  • The little guy playing Will Robinson is now playing Nelix in Star Trek - Voyager.

  • no he`s not that`s not billy mumy

  • no, but he played Lenier in Babylon 5

  • No that's some guy named Ethan Phillips,I think. : )

  • Ah yes! You're right! My chap said i was wrong and will be very pleased with you! Looks like I lost another argument...sheesh!

  • It's ok, we all learn something new everyday! ; )

  • THAT DOES NOT COM-

  • -PUTE

  • I like both themes. The 3rd season theme was exciting, but this theme was amusing and quirky. Apples and oranges.

  • @CaptGage True, I've come to prefer this original one over the years. At its core is dramatic music being mocked by the arrangement, as if the fates themselves were having sport with the Robinsons' predicament. I know, too deep, but at any rate, it gives a quasi-serious, comic-bookish atmosphere to the show, rather unlike any TV theme I've ever heard.

  • Anyone notice the similarities between this and the prokofiev tocatta? Is it a subjective illusion of similarity, or real?

  • Bill Mumy (Will Robinson) is half of the band "Barnes and Barnes", and starred as Lenier in "Babylon 5"

  • Fish heads Fish heads...roly poly fish heads....fish heads ...fish heads..eat them up YUM!

  • @doctor1962 'they don't go bowling..." Wasn't a very young Sissy Spacek shown in that for a second - on the beach?

  • @gwennire ya know...I really don't know?

  • General Hospital??

  • I liked the second season music much better than this.

  • John Williams is a great music composer. His music in Lost in Space was wonderful!

  • That does not compute!

  • SILENCE, you nickle-plated ninny! ;)

  • I'll always like the 2nd season theme far better. It's neat that in the movie remake that same theme, though rocked up, was used as well.

  • Ohhh...young WILLIAM!

  • Skip the movie starring William Hurt and Mimi Rogers, the TV series is better.

  • I don't believe John Williams wrote this boring piece of music, He DID write the later intro to the show, which was fast paced and exciting, but I don't he wrote this. Will somebody correct me if I'm wrong?

  • WRONG - I've got the soundtrack album He did indeed write BOTH theme tunes.

  • @agreatclip He wrote them both....

  • OH THE PAIN!!!

  • Danger Will Robinson Danger!!!!

  • Hey Namtitti... the monsters aren't real...it's a story !!!

  • I watch this show a week at a time. The first season is the best. For the other two I turn down the color. It really helps the newer episodes out alot if you do this. The monsters look too fake in color

  • Excellent! I remember this from when I was a kid. Can anyone tell me some info about the sample at the end of this clip?? It started to sound interesting but it gets cut short, starts at 57.00

  • 'IT DOES NOT COMPUTE' SAYS THE ROBOT- "MARTA"--" MARTA""-MARTA "-says Angella cartwright

  • @jwilde106 lol what are u like 100 years old? lol

  • When u think how early this theme was composed....you realize that the "simpson's " & countless other themes, that sound similar, were inspired by this classic.

  • nonsense you bubble-headed boobie! oh earth....

  • Parts of that theme song sound a little like the theme song for The Simpsons

  • DANGER! DANGER! WILL ROBINSON!oh the pain! the pain! WARNING! WARNING! WILL ROBINSON!

  • John(ny) Williams wrote the theme and the score for the pilot and several early episodes. Irwin Allen had considered using a different theme, by Warren Barker, for season two (it accurately reflected where the series was headed), but decided to continue using Williams' theme. Then, he commissioned John to write a new one for season three....

  • "Oh the pain the pain!" "Danger Danger Will Robbinson" absolute classic thanks for posting.

  • That's my robot at 0:25. Ha ha!

  • there is a great remake on ITUNES of the tv show music

  • Terrarium of Terror theme is better.

  • If you watch the opening credit... or maybe the closing credit you will see the Music composed by "Johnny Williams"

he also wrote "Land of the Giants" And I think "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea."

  • Paul Sawtell was the very capable composer of the "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea " theme. Jerry Goldsmith also composed a great alternate theme for "VTTBOTS" that was used briefly in the beginning of the second season.

John Williams composed the theme to Irwin Allen's other sci-fi series, "Time Tunnel."

  • Every time I hear stacatto trumpet runs in a piece of music, I think instantly of this theme music.
